But why does this Muslim cleric seem to misunderstand Islam so comprehensively? He apparently thinks that jihad has something to do with armed struggle.

“Radical Sunni Takes Up Post In Iraqi Rebel Coalition,” from AFP, June 1 (thanks to JW):

BAGHDAD (AFP)–Sheikh Hareth al-Dhari, a leading radical cleric of the Sunni Arab opposition to the U.S. occupation of Iraq, will be the spokesman of a united front of Iraqi insurgents, the coalition said on Monday.”We, the Front of Jihad and Change Brigades, Jihadists of Iraq and the Army of Imam Ahmed Ben Hambel, put our faith in Hareth al-Dhari,” the Front of Jihad and Change, an Al-Qaeda ally, said in a statement on its Web site.

“We will allow Dahri to speak on our behalf on political issues and to represent us…to defend the blood of our martyrs.”

The Front of Jihad and Change unifies a dozen Iraqi, nationalist and Islamists rebel groups, including the Al-Rashedeen Army and the 1920s Revolution Brigades, made up of former Iraqi Baathist party members….

(IsraelNN.com) Members of the Egyptian Coptic diaspora urged American President Barack Obama to remember the Middle East’s oppressed non-Muslim minorities during his upcoming trip to Cairo. Several members of the U.S. Congress echoed the Copts’ concerns.

Christian Copts of California (CCC), an organization representing expatriate Egyptians of the ancient Coptic minority, has written an urgent letter to the American leader reminding him that “reconciliation cannot be separated from reciprocation. The Islamic World must not demand from us that which they are unwilling to retune to us and to extend to their own citizens of other religious. I hope you help them understand reconciliation is a two-way street.”

 Little Rock police chief Stuart Thomas identified the suspect as Abdul Hakim Mujahid Muhammad, 24, of Little Rock. Thomas says Muhammad also goes by the name Carlos Bledsoe.

Kevin Rudd’s media defenders claimed in April that the increase in boat people could not be blamed on Kevin Rudd’s softening of our laws against illegal immigrants. The ABC then claimed one asylum seeker told it Rudd’s “softening of asylum seeker policy . . . had no influence on his decision”. But a fuller transcript showed he’d denied nothing.

Again Rudd’s apologists tried. The ABC’s Jon Faine, The Monthly’s Sally Warhaft, and The Sydney Morning Herald’s David Marr agreed mere Afghans could never have known of Rudd’s changes

That argument was almost immediately challenged – by boat people themselves:

One (Iraqi) said he plans to attempt the boat journey even though his refugee status is already confirmed, because he has heard he is more likely to be accepted by Kevin Rudd’s Government than its predecessor….  ”Kevin Rudd – he’s changed everything about refugee. If I go to Australia now, different, different,” a second asylum seeker told the ABC.

And today the Herald Sun carried this interview with Iraqi asylum-seeker Yaser Mandalavi, in an Indonesian detention centre:

“Mr Howard made it very hard for refugees. He wouldn’t let me bring my family to Australia when I lived there. But I have been told (Rudd has) made it easier for people like me to come to Australia and to bring our families with us…”

After the Rudd Government scrapped TPVs, a people smuggler “mafia man” persuaded him to set sail.

”He told me the laws had been changed in Australia, and that Mr Rudd wanted refugees,” Mr Mandalavi said.

A California nonprofit dedicated to “teaching about Islam & Muslims” at U.S. high schools and college campuses features a board of advisors that is stacked with some of the most controversial activist professors in the field of Middle Eastern studies today. The imprimatur of these scholars may signal a troubling shift toward the support of proselytizing efforts and the further unraveling of Middle East Studies in America.  

The board of Islamic Networks Group (ING) is a veritable Who’s Who of Islamist apologists and activists. Leading the list is John Esposito, the founding director of the Saudi-funded Center for Muslim Christian Understanding at Georgetown University. He famously stated that the suicide-bombing Hamas organization engages in “honey, cheese-making, and home-based clothing manufacture.”

Joining Esposito on the ING board is Sherman Jackson of the University of Michigan, who was a trustee at the North American Islamic Trust and worked with the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), both un-indicted co-conspirators in the U.S. v. Holy Land Foundation.

It is laughable that such a guy is perceived as being somehow “liberal”- Zakaria is an Islamo agit prop who lies and denies the ultimate goal of the ummah Islamiyah, which defines itself as “The Ikhwan (Muslim Brothers) must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and sabotaging its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.” Why is it so difficult to understand? Why is it so difficult to accept the fact that Obama, a born Muslim who tends toward Marxism, is a fan of Zakaria and reads his books, finds himself in agreement with Zakaria, which means both men are totally opposed to the US constitution and will do everything to distroy America?
