Criticising Islam is not "racist"

Of course not. Because Islam is not a race, but a violent ideology in the guise of religion.

Ian McEwan has insisted that criticising Islam is not racist and blamed far- left stinkers for “closing down the debate”.

What race is this?

The Booker Prize winner said those who claimed judging Muslims was “de facto” racism were playing a “poisonous argument”.

McEwan, 61, the best-selling author of novels including Amsterdam, Atonement and Saturday, thought many in the left wrongly took this position because they had an anti-Americanism shared with Islamists.

In an interview with today’s Telegraph Magazine, McEwan said: “Chunks of left-of-centre opinion have tried to close down the debate by saying that if you were to criticise Islam as a thought system you are a de facto racist. That is a poisonous argument.

“They do it on the basis that they see an ally in their particular forms of anti-Americanism,” he said.

“So these radical Muslims are the shock-troops for the armchair Left who don’t want to examine too closely the rest of the package – the homophobia, the misogyny and so on.”

Liberal democracies depend on the premise that there are unalienable human rights that a government cannot violate and retain a legitimate right to rule. To want to defend that concept is far from the extreme, rabid, reactionary position that it is portrayed as here — even (horrors!) at the risk of being impolite. You don’t defend your values by… not defending them.

Mom accused of circumcising infant girl AJC

A 35-year-old mother was arrested for allegedly circumcising her 10-month-old daughter, police said.

The LaGrange woman is currently being held in the Troup County jail without bond, Sgt. Chad Mann told the AJC. She faces female genital mutilation and child cruelty charges, Mann said.

“A relative changing the baby noticed that she appeared to be circumcised,” Mann said.

The AJC is not publishing the mother’s name to avoid identifying the infant.

The metro Atlanta, Ga., woman, Melody Onyonyor, was taken in to custody following the results of an investigation by the Troup County Sheriff’s Office and the Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS). Apparently, a relative of the baby’s father had tipped off investigators, after they had changed the infant’s diaper and noticed that the child’s genitals had been severely cut.

The other day, a pediatric nurse in New York City refused to dance with Mbarek Lafrem, a Moroccan man, in a New York City bar. What did Lafrem do? He followed her into the women’s bathroom where he attempted to rape and savagely beat her. The woman was found unconscious and is now hospitalized. She required 50 stitches to close just one of her lacerations; she also suffered a broken eye socket, a broken nose, skull fractures, and a busted jaw.

The media pointedly refrain from telling us that he is a Muslim, but with a name like “Mbarek” or ‘Mubarak,” what religion are we talking about? Lafrem now claims that she started it, that the nurse “berated him when he barged into the women’s restroom shortly after she’d rebuffed him on the dance floor.”

Surely an 11 year-old girl cannot be expected to clean and cook for a 41 year-old husband.

Marriages involving underage girls may be common during the Malaya days 60 years ago but surely it is difficult to fathom in this modern age.

At the time, the shift by Tayyip Recep Erdogan, Turkey’s leader, from West to East was obvious, because Turkey announced it was cutting Israel out of annual military exercises involving NATO forces while it sought out military exercises with Syria.

Now Shoebat, the grandson of the Muslim Mukhtar of Beit Sahour-Bethlehem and a friend of Haj-Ameen Al-Husseini, the grand mufti of Jerusalem and notorious friend of Adolf Hitler, is worried about what Turkey is saying and doing.

As a young man, Shoebat was part of the Palestinian Liberation Organization and participated in acts of terror and violence against Israel. After moving to the U.S., he worked for the Arab Student Organization at Loop College in Chicago and continued his anti-Israel activities. In 1993, Walid studied the Tanach (Jewish Bible) in a challenge to convert his wife to Islam, finishing up by changing sides.

“Turkey is the biggest threat,” he told WND in an interview. “Turkey is the strongest military power in the region, and it’s the second largest army in NATO. The statements coming out of Turkey should be of great concern to Americans.”

The seven Moroccans charged with having set up a court of Sharia law in Valls (Catalonia) and of having passed a death sentence on a women accused of adultery, have today been released.

The committal judge at Tarragona Court was forced to overturn their imprisonment after the woman who had brought the charges failed to appear in court to identify them for the third time, say court sources, cited by the EP agency. The woman, of Moroccan citizenship, disappeared without trace last November and is thought to have returned to live in Morocco, although the police in that country have not been able to trace her. The charge brought against the seven men, who were facing the prospect of 23 years’ imprisonment for kidnapping, attempted murder and conspiracy to commit a crime, is entirely based on the inquiry conducted by the Catalan police force, the ‘Mossos d’Esquadrà, who had corroborated the ‘probable’ existence of a Sharia court at Valls. The court has, however, left the case open, as well as the accusations against the seven men, who are now free to leave custody.

A top media rights watchdog has listed Australia along with Iran and North Korea in a report on countries that pose a threat of internet censorship.

Paris-based media rights group Reporters Without Borders on Thursday put Australia and South Korea on its list of countries “under surveillance” in its “Internet Enemies” report.

But its not all bad news:

The ‘dirty’ excuses:

Australia was listed for the government’s plan to block access to websites featuring material such as rape, drug use, bestiality and child sex abuse.

Critics say the plan is a misguided measure that will harm civil liberties by blocking a broader range of content than just nasty material.

Communications Minister Stephen Conroy has said he plans to introduce legislation by the end of next week that would require ISPs to block a blacklist of “refused classification” websites for all Australians.
