Nile vows to continue fight against the burqa

THE Reverend Fred Nile says he will continue his fight for a ban on the Islamic head and body veil after his private member’s bill foundered in Parliament yesterday.

The Christian Democrats MP wants NSW to follow a growing list of European countries which have moved to ban women from wearing the full head and body covering in public.

Rev Nile’s Full-face Coverings Prohibition Bill, which is modelled on legislation recently passed by the Belgium Parliament, would see any person wearing a a burqa or niqab while in public liable for a $550 fine.

Anyone who compels another person to wear such a covering could be fined $1100 and a person’s religious or cultural belief would not be a reasonable excuse.

“The time to act is now, the world is debating this issue right now,” Rev Nile said.

Well, we may as well start debating the benefits of Islamic immigration altogether. What say you?

New York politicians gathered Thursday afternoon to denounce Tea Party leader Mark Williams and support a mosque and community center planned near ground zero. The politicians were responding to Williams’ blog rant against the mosque Wednesday, in which he said Muslims worshipped a “monkey god.”

“His spewing of racial hatred reminds me … of Adolph Hitler,” Borough President Scott Stringer said at Thursday’s press conference. “We reject him. We reject his bigotry.”

Stringer and other politicians stood together outside the former Burlington Coat Factory building on Park Place, where the Cordoba Initiative hopes to build a $100 million, 13-story community centerwith Islamic, interfaith and secular programming, similar to the 92nd Street Y.

While the Cordoba House’s location just two blocks north of the World Trade Center has sparked protests from some 9/11 family members and many others, the local politicians said Thursday that the location was fitting. “This is precisely where this kind of center for peace and place of worship should rise up,” City Comptroller John Liu said.

In addition to Liu and Stringer, State Sen. Daniel Squadron, City Councilwoman Margaret Chin and Councilman Robert Jackson, the Council’s sole Muslim, all spoke in favor of the plans.

Australia: Islam spreads fear and hatred in the country

Unfortunately, that’s not how the cowardly, corrupt  elites see it.  For them truth is the the new hate speech, and telling the truth “spreads fear and hatred in the country.”

No. We can’t be seen doing something about Islam, child marriage, female genital mutilation, the burqa, polygamy, systematic  invasion, the crime, the attacks on freedom of speech, blackmail, subversion and infiltration. Doing something about  jihad might make Muslims angry. Therefore its much easier to prosecute and destroy  those who tell the truth.

Move to ban burqa in Australia fails

Just wondering: why do we have to read this in the Times of India?

MELBOURNE: A bill to ban burqa in Australia’s most populous state New South Wales on Thursday fell through as centrist and leftist lawmakers condemned it as racist.

The bill had been moved by the leader of the rightist Christian Democratic Party Fred Nile, who had called for banning burqa citing security reasons and to what he called “set women free from domination of males.”

The legislation had been moved apparently to keep up with the trend in Europe where nations like France and Belgium are heading to ban the burqa, full face covering dress.

Nile’s bill was defeated in the state’s upper house by 26 to 3 votes, with members opposing saying that such a step would spread fear and hatred in the country.

The dhimmies are running scared.  Good night, Australia!

The burqa is a war on women

A bizarre form of political correctness is preventing us from an open discussion about what is, in fact, female subjugation.

It would seem there are some things in Australia we are not allowed to discuss. A ban on the burqa is clearly one of them. But the time has come to get over our fears and cultural fragilities – and grow up. The call to ban the burqa is receiving serious consideration in European parliaments. And it should here, too.

Belgian legislators voted last month to outlaw the burqa in public places. On Wednesday, a bipartisan resolution passed by the French parliament deploring the burqa – on the grounds of “dignity” and “equality of men and women” – was presented to the French cabinet, and a ban is expected later this year. Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Canada are also grappling with the issue.

But in Australia, in a sign of cultural timidity and intellectual weakness, we seem intent on shunning any meaningful debate about the burqa and its place in a liberal democracy. At one level this is understandable, given the issue has become a confusing tussle between feminists and well-meaning liberals; nervous libertarians and right-wing ideologues; and the usual smattering of racists and dog-whistling shock-jocks.
