A MUSLIM woman sentenced to six months’ jail for making a deliberately false statement that a racist policeman tried to forcibly remove her burka has been freed on appeal.

Judge Clive Jeffreys said he was not satisfied beyond reasonable doubt it was Carnita Matthews, a 47-year-old Muslim woman from Woodbine, NSW, who accused the police of racism because the person who handed in the complaint to police was wearing a burka at the time.

To reach the level of proof of identity to prove the case, it appears Mrs Matthews would have been required to identify herself by lifting her burka at the police station to prove her identity – which is what started the uproar in the first case.

More than a dozen Muslim supporters linked arms and began chanting “Allah Uh Ahkbar” as they stormed out of Downing Centre, Sydney, with Mrs Matthews concealed behind them.

Tempers soon rose and they began jostling with police after several members of the group began attacking TV cameramen.

Mrs Matthew’s lawyer Stephen Hopper defended them, saying: “They are obviously happy with the result and are expressing it in a way that is culturally appropriate to them”.

I did not know that taking in immigrants, including refugees, required us to accept “culturally appropriate” ways of expressing pleasure that involved fighting police and attacking journalists. If this deal had been explained front-up, I rather suspect Australians would have voted to slam shut the door. (Andrew Bolt)

All cops are racist,” she says.The magistrate rejected her lawyer’s argument that the prosecution could not prove it was Matthews herself who made the complaint and signed the declaration.But police prosecutor sergeant Lisa McEvoy said there was no doubt.”Her signature on that affidavit coupled with the signature on her driver’s licence is exactly the same,” she told the court.

A number of Tunisian women feel forced to adopt religious practices in attire and behaviour. Experts, however, question the legality and Islamic authenticity of the phenomena.

[Jamel Arfaoui] “The case with the veil in Tunisia is a matter of fashion and is the result of influence from certain groups; it’s the herd mentality,” writer Rach Tounsi says.

Rima, a student, breathed a sigh of relief when her mother allowed her to remove the hijab.

“I’ve been waiting for this day for six months,” she says, adding that the experience felt like “long decades”. “My mother forced me to abandon what she considered to be indecent clothes when I returned home at a late hour after attending a friend’s birthday party.”

Like many other Tunisian girls and married women, she was made to obey her family, while facing alienation at school.

“I’ve lived through difficult times at my college. I may be wrong about it, but I felt that my male and female colleagues’ looks were tearing me apart. This made me avoid going to the college for several days, and I could have failed that year if it hadn’t been for the assistance of a female colleague,” she adds.

Even though freedom of conscience is enshrined in Article 5 of the Tunisian constitution, which “protects the free exercise of beliefs with reservation that they do not disturb the public order”, a growing number of women experience coercion in religious practices.

Rabiaa, in her 30s, is one of them. She admits to wearing Islamic garments out of fear of her husband’s violence.

“He threatened to divorce me and to prevent me from seeing my kids if I insisted on my rejection of the veil and cloak,” she tells Magharebia.

In my New York Times interview here, I repeated what I have said and thought for some time, that the first country that will be Islamic in Europe will be the U.K.

This terrible story just validates my prediction. An Islamic supremacist with fundamentalist links will most likely be elected Executive Mayor of Tower Hamlet council, with control of over a billion dollar budget.

Tower Hamlets moved from a conventional leader system to a mayoralty this year as a result of a campaign spearheaded by the Muslim extremist group the IFE. IFE’s Abu Talha told an undercover reporter for The Sunday Telegraph and Channel 4’s Dispatches: “The mayor is going to have a lot more control. That’s why we need to get someone, one of our brothers, in there. Which we will do.”

The law says that if 5 per cent of the electorate petition a council, it must hold a referendum on changing to a mayoral system.

Earlier this year another prominent IFE activist, Abjol Miah, organised such a petition.

So what does the Koran say?

How can banning the burqa be such an affront to Islam if it isn’t required by the religion? How long can Muslims have it both ways?

There you go:  Allah commands, the believers have no choice. But at the same time they tell us ‘its their choice’ and we cannot tell people what to wear. To clear things up, I did check my Koran (King Fahd Academie translation) which is the most precise. Here’s what it says:

Sura 33, Al-azab, 59:

O prophet! Tell your wives (sic) and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils)all over their bodies (i.e. screen themselves completely except the eyes or one eye to see the way) that will be better……

So then: the only question that remains is why the lies and why the denials?

The answer should be easy: Western useful idiots are demanding that we respect ‘their right’  to wear what they want. Indeed, what could be worse than Westerners telling Muslim women what to wear?

However, where the soldiers of Allah  have the upper hand, Muslim women have to chose between the freedom sack or else:

The French Senate has voted to ban the burqa in public places.

Similar laws are being considered in Belgium, Spain and Italy.

President Sarkozy said in Parliament “We cannot accept that in our country some women will be imprisoned behind a fence cut off from all social life, deprived of identity. This is not a principle that the French republic has about women’s dignity.”

In Australia, a recent decision by a judge to have a witness remove her face veil has sparked controversy and recent polls show that the majority of Australians support a ban.

YOU CAN’T BAN THE BURKHA, SAY (unelected) EUROCRATS

EUROPE backed the burkha yesterday by ruling that the controversial Muslim veils should not be banned.

The Council of Europe also branded the Swiss “bigots” for their ban on the construction of Islamic minarets. Last year Switzerland banned the building of the minarets – towers used to call Muslims to prayer – after a nationwide referendum.

Please note that Switzerland is not a member of the EU.  That the unelected polit-commissars in Brussels have the cheek to condemn a country that is not even part of their assumed jurisdiction is beyond parody……

MPs from 47 countries voted unanimously that outlawing the full-face veils would deny women “who genuinely and freely desire to do so” the right to cover their faces.
The Council of Europe’s resolution is not binding on members of the group, which includes all European countries except Belarus, as well as Turkey.
But the vote by the human rights group threatens to torpedo bans planned in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain as it could open governments up to costly legal battles.
Last night the ruling was condemned as “out of touch”.

The Christian Democrats MP wants NSW to follow a growing number of European countries trying to ban women from wearing in public the burqa and the niqab, a veil with a narrow opening for the eyes.
