Two dead in Melbourne stabbing rampage

Police have revealed details about the man who killed two people and left another woman critically injured in a stabbing rampage in Melbourne overnight.

Victoria Police are not treating a horrific stabbing rampage as terrorism after a 34-year-old Roxburgh Park man killed two people and left another woman critically injured in Melbourne’s suburbs overnight.

The man, armed with kitchen knives and a switch blade, was shot dead by police after stabbing two women while they sat in their car, killing one, before stabbing another man on the street a short time later.

“This is a terrible event, this is something that’s just shocking,” Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Glen Weir told reporters this morning.

Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton told a news conference the offender had no criminal record but did have an intervention order protecting his former partner and a child, who are both safe and well.

Mr Ashton said the man was not known to counter-terrorism police but had a mental health flag in the database after he twice attended a Melbourne police station in 2018 saying ISIS operatives were after him.

Muslim armies have repeatedly attempted to conquer Europe. Charles Martel stopped them at Tours in 732. They were stopped at the gates of Vienna in 1529 and 1683. If any of these conflicts had turned out differently, the entire West would be a savage basket case like Syria now.
