Disputed Amsterdam Mosque El Tawheed wants to establish an Islamic state also in the Netherlands. The mosque apparently made that clear to the Amsterdam police after a row about hate-inciting literature.

Former commissioner Peter Slot, currently employed at the Dutch embassy in the US as liaisons officer for the police, revealed that in a conference in Washington on radical Islam. Slort spoke about a closed session he had with the mosque administration after a commotion about a book calling to throw homos off tall buildings.

The administration of El Tawheed refused to renounce it. Slot:

“they told me: ultimately our goal is an Islamic society, also in the Netherlands.”

Moroccans want Wilders prosecuted

Moroccan organisations in the Netherlands want Geert Wilders prosecuted for discrimination against Muslims.

THE HAGUE – Moroccan organisations in the Netherlands want the public prosecution department to prosecute Freedom party PVV leader Geert Wilders for discrimination against Muslims. If the justice department refuses, then the organisations will approach the court to force the prosecution department to take action.

Chairman of the National Moroccan Council (LBM) Mohamed Rabbae said this on Thursday, partly in response to the film on the Koran that Wilders is currently working on.

Rabbae says that the public prosecution department is hesitant to follow through on the many complaints filed against Wilders and that there is some fear of taking legal action against him. “We want to force that action,” says the former GroenLinks MP.

The public prosecution department received more than 40 complaints against Wilders after the MP called for the Koran to be banned. The justice department has not yet indicated whether the complaints will lead to prosecution.

The LBM, which claims to represent 200 organisations, says that Wilders is waging “racist politics” by constantly insulting Muslims and discriminating against them. “Wilders is a racist with regard to Islam. His comments are not aimed at a race, but at a religion and population group,” says Rabbae.

Jan 23 – US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says the US would be willing to start talking to Iran, provided Tehran gives up nuclear ambitions.

A similar offer was made in 2006 and Rice has often said she would be prepared to meet any time, any place with the Iranians to discuss any subject as long as they gave up nuclear work that the West believes is aimed at building an atomic bomb. Iran says it is for peaceful power generation.

Mosques in Britain are more extreme than in Iraq, according to the country’s deputy prime minister.

Dr Barham Salih claimed some mosques in Blackburn would be banned in Iraq for the extremist messages they preach.

He made his comments during a dinner party in Baghdad attended by Tory culture spokesman Tobias Ellwood.

The 41-year-old MP claimed Dr Salih said: “I am not surprised that you British are facing so many problems with extremists after what I saw in those mosques in Blackburn.

“What I saw would not be allowed here in Iraq. It would be illegal.”

Dr Salih, a Sunni Muslim, went to several mosques in Blackburn when he visited the town on the invitation of the then Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw, in 2005.

Muslims make up about a quarter of the population of Blackburn where Dr Salih campaigned for Mr Straw in the runup to the general election.

Mr Ellwood said the comments made by Dr Salih at November’s dinner in Baghdad shocked him.

“I do not believe these comments can be dismissed out of hand,” he said.

“I was absolutely shocked. He went inside the mosques and said literature he saw would be illegal. He was quite clear.”

Mr Ellwood, who made the claims during a Westminster debate about terrorism, said: “The comments are only directed at a very small proportion of mosques in the UK. The vast majority of Muslims wouldn’t want to be labelled.”

Last night Muslim groups reacted with fury with what they saw as an attempt to smear them.

Salim Mulla, chairman of the Lancashire Council of Mosques, said: “We are going out of our way to bring the community together.

“Nobody is working harder than us at breaking down barriers.

“For Dr Salih to make these sort of comments is not very helpful at all. I don’t know where he’s coming from.

“He was very co- operative when he visited, and took lots of photographs. How many incidents have we had in Blackburn? He is talking a load of rubbish.”

Canada: ‘Montreal Mosques  are Jihad Recruitment Centers’

MONTREAL – In a previously undisclosed interview with CSIS investigators, alleged al-Qaeda sleeper agent Adil Charkaoui described how members of Montreal’s Arab community were recruiting people for jihad before 9/11.

“Charkaoui explained that many are called but few are chosen. It’s a funnel effect,” according to a summary of the April, 2001, interview with the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, just added to the court record.

“The person responsible for recruitment attends certain nerve centres, such as mosques. Someone whom the recruiter considers to have potential will be invited to meetings where he will be exposed to certain activities having to do with jihad. The person is tested. If any flaw is detected related to the security that he must respect to participate in jihad activities, he will be expelled from the group immediately.”

Nowhere in the interview does Mr. Charkaoui admit to participatingin the recruitment effort, but his comments reveal a depth of knowledge about the goings-on within Montreal’s extremist community.

THE case of a taxi driver accused of raping three female passengers was really about a breach of contract because the women were prostitutes, the man’s lawyer has told a court.

Hassan Nagi, 36, of Bexley in Sydney has allegedly been linked by DNA to the attacks in Glebe, Kings Cross and Kogarah between July 2003 and June last year.

He appeared in Sydney’s Central Local Court today on 12 charges, including three counts of sexual intercourse without concent.

Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) prosecutor Kate Chater said the women were assaulted “multiple times and there was the very serious offence of penetration.

“The women were all vulnerable and the taxi driver was in a position of trust,” she said.

Mr Nagi’s barrister Clive Stern SC told the court the women were prostitutes and that the sex was consensual.

“What the case is really about is a breach of contract,” Mr Stern said.

“There was a dispute about the fees paid to the ladies at the time.”

Ms Chater said the women were not prostitutes.

Magistrate Brian Maloney granted Mr Nagi bail, saying it was not for him to make any judgment about the victims’ professions, nor the morality of engaging prostitutes.

Van Gogh murderer Bouyeri

Here we have a judge who seriously has his head up his ass:

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands: An appeals court in the Netherlands on Wednesday overturned the convictions of seven men on charges they belonged to a terrorist network.

The seven were associates of Mohammed Bouyeri, who is serving a life sentence for the 2004 murder of filmmaker Theo van Gogh. The killing — van Gogh was shot and his throat was slit on an Amsterdam street — was found to be an act of terrorism.

The court’s decision was a blow to prosecutors and the government, which praised the original convictions as evidence of the effectiveness of tough terror laws introduced after the Sept. 11 attacks in the United States.

Van Gogh collaborated on the movie “Submission” — a fictional study of abused Muslim women with scenes of near-naked women with Quranic texts engraved on their flesh.

The film angered some Muslims, including Bouyeri, who had hosted the men at meetings at his home in 2003 and 2004 under the guidance of a spiritual leader, Redouan al-Issar, who fled the country shortly before van Gogh’s murder.

In a summary of its ruling, the Hague Appeals Court said the group “could not be considered a criminal and terrorist organization, because no lasting and structured cooperation has been established, nor any shared ideology.”

“The suspects were not aiming, as a group, to commit or incite violent acts. All suspects are therefore acquitted of participating in a criminal and terrorist organization.”

The court conceded the men possessed and studied texts endorsing violence in the name of Islam, but said prosecutors had taken them out of context.

The court also said possession of radical texts “does not justify the conclusion that those that carry them — even if they do follow the philosophy they espouse — have the … goal of carrying out violent acts in order to introduce Sharia law into the Netherlands and make it an Islamic state,” as prosecutors had argued.

Prosecution spokeswoman Thea Tjeerdema said prosecutors were considering an appeal to the Supreme Court.

The court upheld a 15-year sentence on a separate charge for one of the seven, Jason Walters, who threw a hand grenade and injured several police officers in a standoff at a barricaded house in The Hague 10 days after van Gogh’s murder.

The court reduced the sentence for Ismail Aknikh, who was with Walters during the standoff, from 13 years to 15 months. He is to be released shortly because he has served that time.

Four of the remaining five men already had been freed, as they received sentences of less than two years because they were only seen to have played a supporting role in the network, called the “Hofstad” group by prosecutors.

The fifth, Nouredine el Fahtni, is serving a four-year sentence for a separate terrorism conviction.

Afghan ‘blasphemy’ death sentence

An Afghan journalist has been sentenced to death by a provincial court for distributing “blasphemous” material.
Sayed Perwiz Kambakhsh, 23, was arrested in 2007 after downloading material from the internet relating to the role of women in Islamic societies.

A primary court in Balkh province said that Kambakhsh had confessed to blasphemy and had to be punished.

Palistanian donors conference calls for “further efforts”

A conference here of donors to the Palestinian Authority called on donors, Palestinians and Israelis to make “further efforts” to boost the Palestinian economy.

The co-Chairs of the conference, Middle East Quartet envoy Tony Blair and French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, said in a statement: “The total amount of aids pledged in Paris has now reached 7.7 billion dollars” compared to the 7.4 billion announced December 17 after the Paris conference.

But “while recognizing there has been some improvement in the Palestinian economy following the Paris Conference, the co-Chairs noted that further efforts by all parties are required. The situation in Gaza is a source of great economic and humanitarian preoccupation.

“Efforts by all parties are required for the economic situation to improve: by donors to fulfill rapidly their commitments, by the Palestinian Authority to ensure prompt and full implementation” of the program “and by Israel to encourage improved movement of goods and persons, which, as highlighted by the IMF and the World Bank, is a prerequisite to a full economic recovery.”

[The dhimmi] is commanded to put his soul, good fortune and desires to death.  Above all he should kill the love of life, leadership and honor. [The dhimmi] is to invert the longings of his soul, he is to load it down more heavily than it can bear until it is completely submissive. Thereafter nothing will be unbearable for him. He will be indifferent to subjugation or might. Poverty and wealth will be the same to him; praise and insult will be the same; preventing and yielding will be the same; lost and found will be the same. Unless and until we are prepared to have our special envoy to the OIC speak candidly about this international Muslim religio-political organization’s complete failure to address how living, institutionalized Islamic doctrines and practices adversely impact the most fundamental human rights of both non-Muslims and Muslims, we should terminate this recently created position.

Danes are among the most critical of Islam, according to a report by the World Economic Forum (WEF).

79 % see Islam as threat

Some 79 percent of Danes responded in a poll that they considered more interaction with the Muslim world as a threat.

The WEF had conducted surveys in 21 countries (half of which were Muslim) throughout 2007. And the general picture was one of distrust.

The Danes’ and other Europeans’ views on interaction with the Islamic world as a threat was, according to the report, due to a ‘growing fear’ of the ‘Islamic threat’ against their European identities.

This assumption was based on ‘increased immigration from predominantly Muslim regions’ the report said.

Philippines: Soldiers deployed to secure foreign Christian missionaries in Mindanao

Manila, 23 Jan. (AKI) – Foreign Christian missionaries serving in the conflict-ridden island of Mindanao in the Philippines are to be guarded by armed soldiers as the threat of kidnapping for ransom by Islamic radicals rises.

Senior Superintendent Fransisco Cristobal said that soldiers will be deployed “within shooting range” of churches and convents in mainland Mindanao and in the small islets that surround it.

“We are now initiating safety precautions to protect our local and foreign missionaries, including troop deployment plans near parishes and churches,” Cristobal said in a report on ‘Mindanews.’

He added that groups engaged in kidnap-for-ransom are still present in the province.

Bosnia: Mujahadeen leader Abu Hamza to be expelled

 Sarajevo, 23 Jan. (AKI) – Bosnian authorities have decided to expel a former mujahadeen fighter and veterans’ leader Imad al-Husini, known as Abu Hamza, local media reported on Wednesday.

Abu Hamza, a Syrian, was one of several thousand mujahadeen fighters who came to Bosnia from Islamic countries to fight on the side of local Muslims during 1992-1995 civil war, but many have remained in the country afterwards and were allegedly indoctrinating local youths with radical Islam.

Under international pressure, the Bosnian government has formed a special commission to re-examine the citizenships granted to thousands of foreigners during and after the war and several hundred citizenships have so far been revoked.

Hamza, who became vice-president of the mujahadeen war veterans’ organization Ansar, has led a protest against the revocation of citizenships and the expulsion of those whose citizenships have been revoked.

Spain: Islamic community leaders  in Catalonia have called for the release of 14 South Asians  terrorists arrested at the weekend. 

They’re all  “innocent.”-Of course!

“They practiced Islam with friends and acquaintances. They have no connection with any sort of terrorism,” Afzal Ahmed, the president of the Federation of Pakistanis of Barcelona, told reporters in a press conference yesterday.

Joined by representatives of the Islamic Council of Catalonia, Ahmed criticised the way the police had handled the raid on the unauthorised prayer hall in Barcelona’s Raval district on Friday night where the 12 Pakistani and two Indian nationals were taken into custody. He noted that officers had thrown a copy of the Koran on the floor, showing a “lack of respect” for the suspects’ religion.

The suspects, who police believe were planning to carry out attacks in Spain or another West European country and who were in possession of timers and a small quantity of explosive, are due to give testimony before a judge today.

Netherlands: Wilders might have to leave the Netherlands

Just as Hirsi Ali had to flee after Van Gogh’s murder.

National Coordinator for Anti-terrorism Tjibbe Joustra has advised politician Geert Wilders that it might be a good idea for him to leave the Netherlands temporarily after the release of his film on the Koran.

This emerged from an opinion piece that the PVV (Freedom Party) leader published in the Volkskrant on Wednesday.

Wilders wonders whether he would have provoked this kind of reaction if he had made a film on the “fascist character of the Bible” rather than one about the Koran.

“Would the National Coordinator for Anti-terrorism in that case too have said to me on Thursday that it would not be ruled out that I should go abroad for some time after the film is shown?” he writes.
