The map of newspaper endorsements confirm the US presidential election is essentially a class war. It’s metropolitan vs small town; city vs country; insider vs outsider; media class vs the people furthest from the microphones, cameras and keyboards. Sarah Palin symbolises the clash more than any of the other three people on the tickets – and it’s no wonder that big-city, metropolitan media outlets have spent so much sweat and vitriol on trying to destroy her. The venom of the Left has nothing to do with policy, but everything with identity.

AN Indonesian child protection agency is investigating reports of a marriage between a Muslim cleric and a 12-year-old girl, the Jakarta Post newspaper reports.Â
The newspaper said the 43-year-old cleric from Central Java allegedly married the minor girl with her parents’ consent in August and planned to marry two more girls, aged seven and nine.Â

The cognitive dissonance between what these students say and what I hear from Muslim students on university campuses in the U.S. is enormous. These students openly acknowledge the Islamic imperative of violent jihad; on American campuses, Muslim students profess outrage and wounded indignation, exhorting me to “Stop the Hate” and pretending that I made up this Islamic imperative, and that it doesn’t really exist at all. But if they consider Muslims such as the students at the Darusy Syahadah Islamic school — and those who taught them — to be twisting Islam and distorting its teachings, why is it that they never seem to do anything within the Islamic community to fight the spread of these teachings, but instead reserve all their ire for me simply for pointing out that many Muslims understand Islam to be exhorting them to violence and supremacism?
I’ve asked this question innumerable times, of course, and never gotten an answer, because there is no answer. Or rather, there is only one answer, and it is obvious, but Islamic groups in the U.S. still seem to be banking on the majority of Americans not noticing, or caring about, this obvious answer and its implications.

Netherlands: Imam answers about polygamy
“Is is not obligatory to ask permission from the first wife and it’s not one of the requirements that the first wife gives her permission,” writes the imam to his followers. “It is recommended that those who wish to marry more women to carefully think it over and to thoroughly study this topic. This is namely because those who want to marry more women most often just think of their physical satisfaction and not of the other duties that are related to it.”
Fawaz gives the Muslims more advice. But he doesn’t mention at all the ban on bigamy or polygamy in the Netherlands. VVD parliament member Henk Kamp responded with much displeasure. “People can keep the Islamic rules as long as they fit within Dutch law.”
Foreigners married to Dutch partners can expect additional checks from the IND when renewing their residence permits. The IND recently conducted a pilot scheme in the region of The Hague, after which it reported that 25 percent of all suspect marriages there were indeed marriages of convenience.Â

The Saudi king said that he would attend a meeting at the United Nations in New York in November that will discuss his initiative to promote interfaith dialogue.Â
King Abdullah said that it is the duty of every human being to support such dialogue.
In remarks made late Saturday, the king said that extending Muslims’ hands to non-Muslims will help “purify” the reputation of Islam at a time when the world is criticizing the faith.
Abdullah helped bring together Jews, Muslims, Christians, Hindus and Buddhists among other religions at a conference hosted by Spain in July.
