Alan Craig takes BBC and ITV to court over election broadcast

“The BBC and ITV are not entitled to limit free speech and I look forward to the judge ordering them both to broadcast my original message.”

From the “I’m NO  Dhimmi” department @ Christian Today

A London mayoral candidate is taking the BBC and ITV to the High Court for censoring  his party Election Broadcasts in the run up to the May 1 elections.

The Christian Choice candidate, Alan Craig, has instructed the Christian Legal Centre to file papers this morning at the Royal Courts of Justice after BBC and ITV officials instructed him to remove parts of his Party Election Broadcast which was aired on Wednesday evening.

Cllr Craig, a long-standing campaigner against the ‘mega-mosque’, due to be built in Newham close to the site of the Olympic Games, originally described the organisation behind it, Tablighi Jamaat, as ‘separatist’.

However, BBC and ITV officials responsible for supervising the Broadcasts instructed him to moderate his views and change this description of the Islamic organisation if he wanted it aired.

Cllr Craig claims not only ‘political interference’ by the broadcasters, but says such action breeches his rights under the European Convention on Human Rights, which protects freedom of speech.

*  “Controversial” Sux:

According to the Christian Legal Centre, Cllr Craig changed the word to “controversial” under duress. Late in the day ITV insisted that the agreed word “controversial” should be applied to the mosque plans not to the Islamic group. Cllr Craig’s objections to the mega-mosque, however, have consistently been related to the nature of the Islamic group behind the project – the plans have not yet been published.

* Blackmail:

Cllr Craig said: “BBC and ITV officials, none of whom were lawyers to our knowledge, clearly instructed us to ‘tone down’ our views and change the sense if we wanted the PEB broadcast. The legal language of ‘libel’ was mentioned by the BBC, and in the case of TV, we were forced to go back to the studios at the last minute to record a censored version of the PEB.

“I am advised that libel is a defamation of an individual, and no-where in the broadcast do we defame individuals. My comments are reasonable and moderate and do not contradict the Racial and Religious Hatred Act. The BBC and ITV are not entitled to limit free speech and I look forward to the judge ordering them both to broadcast my original message.”

Andrea Minichiello Williams, barrister and director of the Christian Legal Centre, said: “Providing that the content of an election broadcast is within the law, the BBC and ITV should enable the electorate to hear the unedited views of candidates and allow them to make up their own minds as to whether they agree or not.”

The Christian Legal Centre will be calling for a Judicial Review of the BBC’s and ITV’s decision, and ask the judge to order, as a matter of urgency, the unedited Party Election Broadcast on both channels. The case will be heard next Monday when Cllr Craig will be represented by leading Human Rights barrister, Paul Diamond, who represented Nadia Eweida in the BA Cross row.

'Euro-Islam' Delusions

The Theologians Working Towards a Euro-Islam

 By Dieter Bednarz and Daniel Steinvorth
Spiegel Online

* Euro-dhimmies just can’t come to grips with a religion that wants them death or forcibly converted:

Leading Muslim scholars are laying the theological foundations for a “Euro-Islam” which would reconcile their religion with the challenges of modernity. But just how compatible is Islam with secular Western values?

The air in the conference room is stale, and the dour mood among those present is not much better. The room smells of sweat, cigarette smoke, cold coffee — and plenty of problems. That comes with the territory at a meeting of some 100 social workers who work in flashpoints like the London boroughs of Hounslow, Eastleigh and Ealing.

*   ‘Social workers’ stands for those who are aiding and abetting the global jihad. We could also call it a service industry…

In their districts they often have to deal with angry youth gangs, unemployment and failed integration policies. Today, on this particular Thursday, they have gathered here in the large hall of the Holborn Bars conference center to learn that multiculturalism also has positive aspects and, most importantly, that no one needs to be afraid of Muslims.

*  ???

Up on the stage, Lucy de Groot, the organizer of the one-day seminar “Cultural Diversity and Social Cohesion,” presents “with great pleasure” a speaker whose appearance alone is enough to add a touch of brilliance to this gloomy conference room. Smiling here and nodding there, the “esteemed guest” strides up to the podium with the confidence of an entertainer who has grown accustomed to success. Tariq Ramadan knows how to win people over.

images33.jpeg

Frere Tariq, Master of taqiyya

He is conducting the time-honored Muslim tactic of psychotic warfare known as, “Since I can’t dazzle them with my brilliance, I will baffle them with my bullshit.”

*

Homoerotic infatuation meets with steaming piles of taqiyya:

Many of the veteran social workers have an almost enraptured expression on their faces as they look up at the tall, thin man. With his striking features and dark well-trimmed beard, his sand-colored suit with its elegant casualness, the unbuttoned collar of his bright yellow shirt and his slightly dark complexion, Ramadan resembles a Latino singer. “It’s wonderful to be in London,” he says warmly into the microphone. “Thank you very much for inviting me.” Ramadan places the fingertips of his well-manicured hands together and gazes confidently at the audience. His fan club is guaranteed to be even bigger after this afternoon.

*
Officially, Ramadan, 45, is a professor of Islamic studies in Geneva. But now he has just come from Oxford, where he teaches at St. Antony’s College as a visiting fellow. In effect, Ramadan is something of a modern-day itinerant preacher. His mission is to boost the self-confidence of Europe’s Muslims and to explain his vision of a “European Islam” to Europe’s Christian elite.  (* something that is never quite explained. Especially not how this Ramadan Islam would differ from the Islam in the Koran and hadith)

The “new brand” of faith which, according to Ramadan, “is currently taking shape among European Muslims with Islamic-European culture” aims to reconcile Western values with the teachings of Islam.

* BS on stilts…

This “Euro-Islam” has allowed Ramadan to win friends among immigrant children and proponents of interreligious dialogue — and make enemies among right-wing nationalists and hardline Islamists.

Wilders calls for public debate on Fitna, Muslims "not interested"

“We won’t debate you until you admit you’re wrong about what we’d be debating,”

ah yes, and Wilders should withdraw the film and apologize.  Apologize for what? For what Muslims are doing in the name of Islam and how they use the scriptures to justify it?

images32.jpeg

“Dutch Muslims reject debate with Islam critic Wilders,”

from DPA
Amsterdam – Attempts by Dutch legislator Geert Wilders to engage in public debate with Muslims about his controversial film Fitna have so far not been successful, reports said Friday. Dutch media reported that Imam Fawaz Jneid from the As-Sunnah- mosque in The Hague demands that Wilders first remove his film from the internet and apologizes to all Muslims. Only if these conditions are met would Jneid consider a public debate with Wilders, the leader of the Dutch Freedom Party (PVV).
Mahmoud el Shershaby, from the El Tawheed mosque in Amsterdam said he is not interested debating with the Dutch politician, while Ahmed Salam from Tilburg has not responded to Geert Wilders’ invitation to engage in a public debate with him.

Earlier this week a group of imams from the town of Gouda, east of The Hague, openly rejected Wilders’ invitation to engage with him in a public debate.

On Friday May 16, the PVV leader starts his tour of public debates with Muslims in Gouda.

Wilders wants to meet common Muslims and imams to engage in public debates with them about what he sees as the problems of contemporary Islam….

* Prediction: they will scramble like cockroaches…..

Quote of the day:

Muslims are the first victims of Islam. Many times I have observed in my travels in the Orient that fanaticism comes from a small number of dangerous men who maintain the others in the practice of religion by terror. To liberate the Muslim from his religion is the best service one can render him.

Bleeding Hearts For Jihad

 * The New York Times, always on the wrong side of the tracks, goes all out to present a lying Musulaniac as an irreplaceable ‘moderate’ imam. But with the stench of jihad in the air, chances are good that  he  and his extended family will be deported, as they should be.

  “Irreplacable”,  Allah’s choice:

 Aref Assaf, president of the American Arab Forum, an advocacy group based in Denville, N.J., said of Imam Qatanani: “If you want to deport him, what sort of person do you want to keep in this country?”

* Catholic Priest: a sucker for ‘interfaith dialogue:’

“The years of friendship and openness we’ve had with law enforcement will be reversed,” Dr. Assaf said. Imam Qatanani had invited the F.B.I. to make a dozen presentations about national security at the mosque. “I don’t think law enforcement officials will be in the position to reach into our community, except as spies, instead of as friends.” The Rev. Phil Latronico, a Roman Catholic priest who is chairman of the North Jersey Christian-Muslim Project, credited Imam Qatanani with increasing discussions among Christians and Muslims tenfold.

* A Moonbat Rabbi falls for Islamo-Schmooze:

Rabbi David Senter of Congregation Beth Shalom in Pompton Lakes called the imam “the most moderate individual you could imagine.” Rabbi Senter, who has publicly praised Imam Qatanani’s work on behalf of interfaith understanding, said he deserves due process. “My fear is, because of Sept. 11 and the wide brush we’ve been willing to paint Muslims with, he will not get that.”

Imam Qatanani said he is relying on his faith. “If you are straight with God, God will take care of you in this life and in the hereafter,” he said in a recent interview. “If you know Allah in the easy time, God will you know you in the difficult time.”

Griffith Da'awa Centre draws more fire over Saudi cash

* Richard Kerbaj, The Australian

GRIFFITH University’s attempts to justify accepting large donations from the Saudi Government by citing similar arrangements at Oxford and Harvard have been undermined by revelations British and American authorities have begun examining the growing influence of Muslim benefactors on tertiary institutions.

ian_oconnor_100.jpg

* The Griffith stooge at the helm, Ian O’Connor, naively  tries to defend and whitewash the establishment of  the  Islamic  fifth column, here

Britain’s MI5 director-general, Jonathan Evans, reportedly told the Brown Government this month that the Saudi Government’s multi-million-dollar donations to universities, along with other funds from Muslim organisations in countries such as Pakistan, had led to a “dangerous increase in the spread ofextremism in leading university campuses”.

images30.jpeg

The warning came just days after the Higher Education Funding Council for England held a special meeting to confront fears Saudi donations were unduly influencing universities.

* That’s a fact.  They do.

*  Question: why does the Higher Education Funding Council for England need to hold a special meeting to confront fears  that Saudi donations were unduly influencing universities?

And the US Congress is also examining Saudi donations to American colleges.

Security expert Anthony Bergin, from the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, yesterday warned Australian universities against diving for foreign handouts without properly considering the donor’s motives.

“I’d put a fair amount of weight on the statement of the head of the MI5 that they’re concerned about what degree of influence this sort of funding poses,” he told The Australian.

tendollarjihad1.jpg

“And I think, frankly, it would be naive to think that the (Saudis) would not want something in return for their donation. It would be a bit odd if they gave the money and said, ‘Our first project is looking at human rights in downtown Riyadh’.”

Dr Bergin said local national security agencies were closely monitoring foreign funds being channelled into Australian universities: “Of course, they’re focused on these things.”

As reported in The Australian yesterday, Griffith vice-chancellor Ian O’Connor has defended a $100,000 Saudi embassy grant received by his university’s Islamic Research Unit, saying it was similar to donations received by Georgetown and Harvard in the US and Britain’s Oxford.

His defence followed revelations that Griffith pleaded for a $1.37million fund from the Saudi embassy – of which it received only $100,000 – and offered the ambassador a chance to “discuss ways” in which the money could be used.

Professor O’Connor faced further criticism yesterday from a trio of long-time ABC religion journalists and commentators – Rachael Kohn, John Cleary and Stephen Crittenden – who said he had confused the Christian doctrine of Unitarianism with the Islamic sects of Wahhabism and Salafism in an opinion article published in The Australian. Professor O’Connor wrote: “Unitarianism is also known by its critics as Salafism or Wahhabism, after an 18th-century Islamic scholar Muhammad ibn Abd-al-Wahhab.”

The ABC commentators responded by saying: “Ian O’Connor’s equation of Wahhabism and Salafism with Unitarianism is utter nonsense.

“Unitarianism emerged as a liberal Christian movement and gained ground in the early years of American democracy.”

And in an interview with The Australian this week, Queensland District Court judge Clive Wall likened Griffith to Pakistani “madrassas” – renowned for producing extremists – and accused the university of becoming an “agent” through which the Saudi Government would promote radical Islam.

* ‘Inviting’ judge Wall to Islam: Mohamed Abdalla

It is understood that Griffith has since invited Judge Wall to visit the university’s Islamic centre and meet its director, Mohamad Abdalla.

Reinventing Islam:

*  More lies and obfuscation in  the Grunards ‘comment is free’ forum by Maajid Nawaz:

*
“Our policy document Pulling Together to Defeat Terror outlines far-reaching recommendations to root out the global terror threat, through de-radicalisation centres and a focus on education about the pluralistic nature of Islam – which doesn’t see religion and politics as one and the same.”

* Unfortunately for  Maajid Nawaz, Islam has no ‘pluralistic nature’ and no amount of education will change that. Islam is first and foremost a political system and wages jihad, as it must, to replace  infidel ‘man made law’ with the sharia.  This is the clear mandate for every muslim as per Koran & sunnah. A Muslim who denies this is not to be taken seriously.

*  More lies and rubbish from Ziauddin Sardar at the Grunard:

“its the wrong policies of the UK government that cause terrorism”

“Far from “obeying” this government, Muslims are duty-bound to challenge it. Extremism is not only a religious issue; it is also a product of our politics. And tackling extremism requires changing politics as much as changing religious outlook.”

* Sure thing, bro: Britain causes terrorism, ergo Muslims must  work to change British politics. Got it!

To lionise former extremists feeds anti-Muslim prejudice

Sample:

“It is a mistake to fete these repentant members of Islamist cults. They are part of the problem, not the solution ”

Blame the UK government:

“Most of all, British foreign policy has a direct bearing on nurturing extremism. The occupation of Iraq, the byproducts of the “war on terror”, the perpetual suffering of the Palestinians are not amenable to Sufi solutions or deprogramming techniques. So we don’t need neocon ex-extremists to tell us what extremism is about. They are part of the problem, not the solution. But we do need a viable politics that tackles the root cause of extremism. Whatever the joy in heaven, we cannot allow former lunatics to take over the asylum.

UK: Bishop Nazir Ali tells Muslims to stop lying

Bishop tells Muslims ‘you’re in denial’

images27.jpeg

Bishop Nazir Ali

MUSLIMS were accused of being “in denial” by the senior Christian bishop accused of inflaming anti-Islamic feeling by declaring extremists have made parts of Britain “no go areas” for non-Muslims.

Bishop of Rochester, Dr Michael Nazir Ali, defended himself against a barrage of criticism at an inter-faith meeting at Ilford Islamic Centre on Friday.

Organised by the East London Three Faiths Forum, about 200 people packed into the Albert Road, Ilford, centre.

One Muslim man said after the “no go” comments hit the news his family was targeted.

He said: “Surely you must have known there would be this tremendous backlash, our windows broken, our sisters and wives spat at?”

Assistant imam of the South Woodford Muslim Community Centre and Mosque, Abdulrahman Tejan Bangura, fumed: “How many times do the wider community need to be educated about the fact that extremism is un-Islamic? Anyone that’s practising extremism is not a Muslim.”

* How many times have we heard BS like this before?

Dr Nazir Ali said both Christians and Muslims needed to stop being defensive in order to move forward.

He said: “The fact of the matter is that extremists who call themselves Islamic extremists, whether they should attach themselves to that name or not is not for me to judge, have made it so difficult for Christian workers in particular places even to live.

“Christian clergy have been prevented from distributing literature in people’s homes, Christian workers have been attacked or intimidated.

“I think the Muslim community and wider community both, need to attend to this situation and address it, rather than being in denial.”

Centre spokesman Mohammed Azam said an “unfortunate understanding of Islam” had sprouted because some mosques were teaching Arabic “by rote” and without a true understanding of the Koran. He added: “There is extremism and we’d be foolish not to recognise that.”

UN: Libya compares Gaza to 'concentration camps', French Ambassador walks out

 pals-jabalya.jpg

Gaza ‘Concentration Camp’

* This is unbearable: Islamic terrorists and representatives of the most oppressive regimes have hijacked the UN-security council. This charade has to end.

 France on Wednesday led a walkout of Western envoys from a UN Security Council debate on the Middle East after Libya compared the situation in the besieged Gaza Strip to Nazi “concentration camps,” diplomats said.

One diplomat, speaking on condition of anonymity, said France’s UN Ambassador Jean-Maurice Ripert took off his earpiece and walked out, followed by his Western colleagues, after his Libyan counterpart Giadalla Ettalhi made the remarks.

Speaking to reporters after the debate, Syria’s UN Ambassador Bashar Jaafari told reporters: “Unfortunately those who complain of being victims of genocide (during World War II) are repeating the same kind of genocide against the Palestinians.”

“The issue for us is to see the Security Council properly involved in finding solutions” to the crisis, in particular “the Israeli persecution of the Palestinians,” he added.

The incident occurred as the 15-member council was trying to agree on a compromise statement that would have highlighted the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza while also contributing positively to efforts to reach an Israeli-Palestinian settlement.

South Africa’s UN Ambassador Dumisani Kumalo, the council chairman this month, told reporters that members “could not agree” on the statement.

In previous months, the council had several times tried and failed to agree on a statement regarding the crippling Israeli siege of Gaza in response to rocket fire from Palestinian militants based in Gaza.
