A wonderful requiem by Tim Blair for the victim of the latest Islamic terror attack in Melbourne.

I knew Sisto. I went to his coffeeshop just about every time I went to Melbourne. The multiculti-fetishists have his blood on their hands.

Sisto Malaspina arrived in Australia from Italy, and for more than 40 years ran Melbourne’s wonderful Pellegrini’s restaurant. Hassan Khalif Shire Ali arrived from Somalia, and did rather less with his life.

Yesterday the paths of these two very different men briefly intersected:

Melbourne is mourning one of the founders of the city’s famous coffee culture after the murder of Sisto Malaspina in Bourke Street’s terror attack yesterday …

It is believed Mr Malaspina had gone to the aid of the attacker after his car blew up.

Of course he did. And of course the jihadi stabbed him to death for it.

Sisto’s business partner since 1974, Nino Pangrazio, remembers his great and generous friend:

“He loved life. He was always happy. Never a bad word, never a dull moment,” he said.

“As soon as people walked in the doors they were welcome.

“He was a bon vivant.

“The happiest person you could imagine. Always had a smile. Always had a smile for a pretty face, always with a joke.”

Sisto’s first grandchild, a baby girl, was born last Saturday. The Herald Sun’s John Masanauskas farewells a man who made Melbourne so much better:

Everybody knew Sisto, and he knew everybody.

Business people, lawyers, politicians, even the odd lord mayor, loved to come in for a coffee in casual surroundings — it was so authentic you could have been in Rome.

Just a few weeks ago I popped in for a quick flat white and saw Sisto chatting amiably to customers at the back of the cafe.

I remember thinking it was good that he was still there — a comforting fixture in a rapidly changing city.

Now he is gone.

And the affection he embodied been replaced by a force of pure hatred.

Melbourne attack our fifth by muslim refugees

Melbourrne yesterday suffered Austtalia’s fifth terrorist attack by a Muslim refugee. A knife-wielding man who launched a deadly attack in Bourke St on Friday is the brother of an accused terrorist alleged to have plotted a mass murder at Federation Square on New Year’s Eve…

The Somali-born Australian, known as Mohamed Khalif and also Hassan Shire, stabbed a man to death and injured two other men after his Holden Rodeo exploded in the CBD about 4.10pm…

The Herald Sun can reveal the man’s brother is Ali Khalif Shire Ali, 21, from Werribee, who will face a Supreme Court trial after pleading not guilty to preparing and collecting documents to commit a terror attack in Federation Square on December 31, 2017.

The Bourke St attacker, aged in his 30s, was also one of 300 “persons of interest” in Victoria, identified as posing a potential security risk and it is understood he had been watched by police.

The family came as refugees from Somalia in the 1990s.

Cronulla Council cancels Islamic group’s booking for stall in Cronulla mall due to ‘non-compliance with conditions’

An Islamic group has been refused permission to operate a stall in Cronulla mall because the council says conditions were not complied with on two previous occasions.

The Islamic Practice Dawah Circle handed out what was described as educational material promoting multicultural inclusion.

The group’s website says its aim is “to help Muslims live in accordance with the teachings of Islam by creating a socio-cultural environment, where Muslims can practice their faith in complete harmony with the aboriginal heritage, democratic spirit and multicultural social fabric of Australia”

No ‘harmony” in Islam. No “aboriginal heritage” and no “democratic spiri” either. These da’awa gigolos are just annoying.

Melbourne Attack Confirmed as Terrorism. Allahuakbaring Somali Savage Now Dead

The Daily Mail has named the attacker as Mohamed Khalif, who also reportedly goes by the name Hassan Shire.

The four wheel drive which exploded when it crashed was armed with gas cylinders which is why eye witnesses reported multiple explosions. Victoria Police are now treating it as a terrorism incident with the counter-terrorism command being brought in as well as the homicide squad.

The perpetrator of today’s deadly car attack and stabbing spree in Melbourne’s CBD which has now resulted in two people dead was known to ASIO and other security agencies and had links to known convicted terror plotters. The perpetrator after stabbing three people was shot in the chest by police when he tried to stab them has now died in hospital.

He was of Somalian background who arrived in Australia in the 1990s, had convictions for petty crimes and had links to North African terror organizations, his name as not been released. According to the Herald Sun his wife had been reported missing last night and believed to have been radicalized.

SYDNEY/MELBOURNE (Reuters) – A Somali-born man set fire to a pickup truck laden with gas cylinders in the center of the Australian city of Melbourne on Friday and stabbed three people, killing one, before he was shot by police in a rampage they called an act of terrorism.

Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, without providing any evidence.

The utility truck carrying barbecue gas cylinders burned on busy Bourke Street just before the evening rush hour as the driver stabbed bystanders and attacked police.

The cylinders did not explode and the fire was put out in 10 minutes, by which point the attack was over.

“We are still trying to piece together whether the vehicle was lit then he got out the car or whether he got out the car and then the vehicle took flame,” Victoria Police Commissioner Graham Ashton told reporters.

Video posted to Twitter and broadcast on television showed the man swinging a knife at two police officers, while his truck burned in the background.

One of the officers shot the man and he collapsed to the ground clutching his chest, the video showed. Other footage showed two stab victims lying on the ground nearby.

The attacker died in hospital, as did one of the victims, Ashton said. “From what we know of that individual, we are treating this as a terrorism incident,” he said of the attacker….

Melbourne police have shot a man after he crashed a car in Bourke St then attacked citizens and police officers with a knife:

Witnesses say police chased a man carrying a weapon down Bourke St following a crash that saw a car burst into flames.

One witness said two officers trying to apprehend man and he produced a knife and tried to “stab them.”

This is impressive:

Two bystanders stepped in to surround the armed man, including one who used his trolley as a weapon.

The witness then picked up a rubber weight on the ground to help the officers under siege.

Three people have been taken to hospital. A witness reported an apparently serious attack injury:

He said there was a person covered in blood near the car receiving first aid.

The witness said the injured person was either being given CPR or had a possible throat wound.

UPDATE. One victim of the attack is now reported to have died at the scene.

UPDATE II:

Reports on 3AW Radio indicate that witnesses saw the man driving the vehicle “throw something into the back”, which then ignited.

Sky News reports that there appears to be a tarp covering a body at the scene. No further details are available.

UPDATE III. All hail the trolley man:

One heroic eyewitness rushes at the attacker with a shopping trolley, briefly slowing him down and falling in the process.

Meanwhile another bystander closes in while holding a chair from a nearby cafe.

The first man was not deterred, however. He sprung back into action and charged back towards the attacker, shoving the trolley back in his direction as police opened fire.

Great work, sir.

Most people also assume that Muhammad, as the founder of one of the “world’s great religions,” was a Gandhiesque figure: genial, benign, wise, insightful, kind. That he was a warlord who called for the assassination of his enemies, held sex slaves, consummated a marriage with a child, and taught his followers that they would receive divine rewards for murder and plunder is simply unbelievable to some. But I’ve studied the earliest Islamic sources about Muhammad, and the evidence is unmistakable.

Most people likewise take for granted that Islamic history is full of periods in which Muslims lived in peace, harmony, and mutual respect with Jews, Christians, Hindus, and others. They cannot conceive of the possibility that Islamic history is actually one long and uninterrupted record of Muslims being violent toward non-Muslims, and oppressing them. But I’ve examined contemporary sources from every period of Islamic history, from Spain to India, including Islamic sources, and I cannot deny what they reveal. CAIR Convinces Texas Library to Remove Book Critical of Al-Qaeda

The Council on American-Islamic Relations’ Dallas-Fort Worth chapter (CAIR-DFW) recently “applauded a decision by the Plano Library to resolve an issue related to anti-Muslim material in its catalog.” CAIR claims to have convinced this Texas library to remove the book Holy Terror by renowned graphic-novel author Frank Miller, a disturbing act of censorship and a flagrant violation of longstanding library standards.

This author asked the Plano Library Director Libby Holtmann about the book’s removal. She stated that the library “did not remove the subject item from its collection from a request by anyone including CAIRDFW,” but rather “was alerted by a comment sent through social media.” Examination of Holy Terror revealed “that it did not have any professional reviews,” which she claimed is a “necessary component for maintaining an item.” She also cited library records showing little reader interest in Holy Terror.
