Abbott insists Islam had nothing to do with last week’s shooting of tourists in Tunisia, bombing of Shia worshippers in Kuwait and beheading of a man in France.

“What’s being done by Daish (the Islamic State) has nothing to do with God, it has nothing to do with religion,” he claimed on Saturday.

Is he kidding us?

The Islamic State, which claims credit for the two worst attacks and is linked to the beheading, has nothing to do with Islam?

Confirmation that Khaled Sharrouf avoided his constant companion Mohamed Elomar’s drone-directed dispatch to paradise:

Highly classified images captured by the US military in Al-Raqqah, Syria, have confirmed the death of Sydney terrorist Elomar.

But authorities say that none of the photographs suggest Sharrouf was killed in the missile strike …

It is understood there are three images that capture the moment Elomar was killed by a Predator drone during an attack on an Islamic State convoy.

I haven’t seen them, but I’m guessing these images would make excellent screensavers or t-shirts. On Sharrouf-related matters, Adelaide’s Amanda Blair – no relation, so far as I’m aware – pleads for the return of the terrorist’s family to Australia:

ISIS extremists have claimed the massacre which left 38 dead was an ‘attack upon the nests of fornication, vice and disbelief in God’ – as they warned ‘worse is to follow’.

The threat accompanied a picture of the man ISIS claim was behind the assault on innocent holidaymakers, who they name as Abu Yahya Qayrawani.

It is thought this is jihadi name of the killer fatally shot by authorities after Friday’s attack, a 23-year-old aviation student called Seifeddine Rezgui, who was armed with an assault rifle and grenades

At the weekend I had the pleasure of debating on TV with the BBC’s new pet Islamist, Dilly Hussain.

Dilly was saying — to a chorus of approval from his fellow panelists (bar me) — that he found nothing to be proud of in British history. Despite having been born here — the son of Bangladeshi immigrants – he could see only bad things in Britain’s historical record: such as the Bengali famine, which he blamed on Winston Churchill, and the breakup of the Ottoman Empire, in which he claimed to take more “pride and honour” than he did in the British one.

Perhaps I is racist or Islamophobic, innit, but I must confess that at no point during Dilly’s contributions did I get the impression of a luminous intelligence pronouncing from a position of deep knowledge and authority.
