NO DEATHS MEANS NO FREEDOM: THE TYRANNY OF CORONAVIRUS ELIMINATION

Half Australia in lockdown, when countries hit far harder are open. It seems we think even one death is too high a price for our freedom. That’s sure too high for just about every other country on earth – and I think we’re wrong.


More than 10,000 Australians are so scared of the lockdown and their government that they defied $1000 fines to protest. Arrogant politicians called them “halfwits”, “boofheads” and “selfish”, and sent in the police, who hyped claims of violence. But abuse and spin won’t fix this.

 

Such arrogance. To Victorian Health Minister Martin Foley, the 10,000 anti-lockdown protesters last Saturday were just lowlifes who were “on the side of the virus” and indulging in “ratbaggery”.

To NSW Police Minister David Elliott, they were “a whole lot of halfwits” and “boofheads”.

To Luke Cornelius, a deputy commissioner of Victoria Police, they were “selfish people” who “deliberately choose” to endanger us all with their potential “super spreading” event.

To the NSW Mounted Police, they included a cruel horse-puncher who put “our beautiful brave (horse) Tobruk” through an “awful encounter”.

And to glamorously made-up reporters and bouffant TV hosts who haven’t lost a day’s pay from lockdowns, the protesters were violent wackos throwing away everything we’d won through “our” sacrifice.

But to those who marched in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, defying pepper spray and $1000 fines – and to sympathisers who didn’t dare join them – this abuse would confirm they were right.

The delta variant is more contagious but less dangerous

On Wednesday, the Delta variant became America’s dominant COVID strain. Yet it’s no cause for panic: The numbers — especially in Britain, which Delta hit hard — show it causes far fewer hospitalizations and deaths, while vaccines remain highly effective against it.

Most media hype the fear: “Americans should be more concerned about the Delta variant,” a Forbes piece declares. “Scientists have good reasons to sound the alarm,” New York magazine insists. “It’s hard to understand how worried to be,” a CNN analysis claims.

No, actually, the numbers are clear. Yes, Delta, first found in India, does appear more contagious than the Alpha variant first found in Britain — about 50 percent more transmissible, which is why it’s outpaced Alpha there.

Rising cases even prompted Prime Minister Boris Johnson to delay the end of restrictions. But the huge case spike didn’t lead to similar hospitalization or death spikes, so Britain’s back on track to lift regulations July 19.

Protests against COVID-19 lockdowns have been staged in capital cities around Australia including Sydney, where thousands have marched unmasked.

Thousands of protesters who marched through Sydney’s CBD in objection to the city’s COVID-19 lockdowns have been slammed as “selfish” and “self-entitled”.

NSW Police Minister David Elliott has announced the formation of a strike force comprised of 22 detectives to identify and track down the estimated 3,500 protesters who marched through the city on Saturday.

He said more than 90 infringement notices have been issued so far, with 57 charges made.

“I’m hoping we issue 3,500 infringement notices, I’m hoping we have people before the courts,” he told reporters on Saturday afternoon.

“If you don’t want to be in lockdown, obey the rules.”

The rules change by the day. The power drunk bureaucrats don’t.

“Islamic Police” in the centre of Athens are terrorising people

Czech Senate Approves Amendment Granting Right to Bear Arms in Constitution

The senate of the Czech Republic has approved adding a right to self-defence with a weapon to its Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms following a successful petition campaign.

A total of 54 of the 74 senators voted to amend the charter, surpassing the needed three-fifths majority of votes, and will become law once signed by Czech president Milos Zeman, who has previously expressed support for a European Second Amendment and is unable to veto the constitutional change in any case.

Greater Sydney lockdown continues as NSW records 163 new COVID-19 cases
 
New South Wales reported 163 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 and one death, on Saturday in the 24 hours to 8 pm on Friday. Of the new cases, 87 are linked to previously confirmed cases or clusters. All of Greater Sydney, including Wollongong, Central Coast and the Blue Mountains entered a lockdown on June 26 which will remain until at least July 30.

South Australia lockdown continues as the state records one new COVID-19 case
 
Police have foiled an anti-lockdown rally in Adelaide, arresting three protestors and fining several others.
 
The state has confirmed one additional COVID-19 case associated with the latest cluster. The seven-day lockdown began at 6 pm on Tuesday and residents are only allowed to leave their homes for five essential reasons, including purchase of food and medical care.
