A Labour minister has reacted with fury after he and his wife were ordered into separate rooms at a Muslim wedding.

Jim Fitzpatrick stormed out of the London Muslim Centre after being told that strict Islamic rules meant his wife Sheila would have to move into another room.

The minister for food and farming, who was attending a constituent’s wedding at the centre, claimed the segregation of men and women at such events was affecting ‘social cohesion’.

That’s what happens when the soldiers of Allah impose their rules on clueless, unsuspecting multiculturalist utopians. But not to worry: Australia’s sheik Fehmi, thats the successor to our very own catmeat mufti sheik Taj Din al Hilali, is going to end segregation in mosques by November this year.

More than 30 people were arrested today after disorder broke out during a demonstration billed as a protest against Islamic fundamentalism.

• Update: the Sunday Mercury has a video: a Muslim calls the protesters “racist, fascist Nazis”- that’s enough for me. Unfortunately, some of the enlightened progressives on “harry’s place” buy it. England is a sewer…
• While I’m typing this, AlBeeBeeCeera prattles on about “torture…” not a word about the mass-murders on Christians in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria etc. – sometimes you wanna scream…!!!

A total of 31 people were detained in Birmingham city centre during the event, which is believed to have been organised on social networking sites.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said the arrests were made at various locations during the protest and a counter-demonstration organised by the Unite Against Fascism group.

The spokesman also confirmed that a car had been damaged during what she described as ‘sporadic’ outbreaks of disorder in the city centre.

Witnesses said scores of officers were involved in policing the rival protests, which had gathered near Birmingham’s Bullring shopping complex.

One shopper, who declined to be named, said broken banners were left scattered on the ground outside the Bullring following the disorder.

The clashes saw 31 people arrested

Police had vowed to deal robustly with anyone acting outside the law at the protests.

Police believe the anti-fundamentalist rally was organised by groups calling themselves the English and Welsh Defence League and Casuals United, which is said to have emerged after British soldiers were abused by Islamic radicals at a homecoming parade in Luton.

Crackdown on 80,000 immigrant wives with free pass to Britain

• (CNN) — Islamic Terrorists who escaped from prison in Belgium in a daring helicopter escape committed a string of robberies on Saturday, a police spokesman said.

A highly controversial crackdown on immigrants accused of abusing welfare handouts is to be unveiled by Home Secretary Alan Johnson this week.

He plans to ban wives brought here, mainly from India and Pakistan, from receiving child benefit and a wide range of other state aid unless they learn English, support British values and do voluntary work in the community.

The move could affect up to 80,000 immigrants who are allowed to settle permanently in Britain each year after marrying a UK citizen.

Many come from remote villages in the subcontinent, have little formal education and cannot speak a word of English. Under existing laws, they are automatically given indefinite leave to remain after just two years.
