* So NOT calling them “jihadists, mujaheddin, Islamists “Islamic terrorist” and “radical Islamist” – all previously favorite terms of the Bush administration-  didn’t cut the cake. Recommendations that terms like “violent extremist” or simply, “terrorist,” should be used in their place didn’t pacify our enemies either. Does that mean that Peter Singer, the national security “expert”who peddled this BS, is now out of work? Don’t bet on it!

Nine held by counter-terror unit

Nine men have been arrested on a Lancashire motorway in a counter-terrorism operation.

BBC

Six were later released without charge but three others remain in custody.

The arrests, near Preston on Friday, involved a joint operation between police in Lancashire and the North West Counter Terrorism Unit.

The men were stopped at about 2100 GMT as they travelled westbound on the M65 near junction one. The motorway was closed while vehicles were seized.

A spokeswoman for Lancashire Police said: “The arrests are part of an ongoing intelligence-led operation and investigation by Lancashire Constabulary and the North West Counter Terrorism Unit.”

The Mail holds no brief for Geert Wilders, the Dutch right-winger whose rabid views on the Koran are, understandably, deeply insulting to Muslims. (If the truth hurts, let it bleed/ed)

Yet what does Home Secretary Jacqui Smith think she is doing, barring him from the UK, where he was to visit the Lords as a guest of Ukip’s eccentric Lord Pearson? 

And what is Lord Ahmed thinking of, when he threatens to mobilise 10,000 Muslims to keep him away? (Simple: he is winning the war for the ummah/ed)

UK: Whatever happened to free speech?

Britain was once renowned around the world for defending people’s right to speak out. Not any more:

The very people who in 1989 were demanding the murder of Salman Rushdie for writing a book are today leading the charge against Geert Wilders for making a (short) film. The fundamental difference is that 20 years ago, the government supported free speech; today, it has cravenly surrendered. It is simply not good enough to say that Wilders should not be heard because he might provoke a backlash from those who do not like him or his views. That is not upholding the law. The refusal to admit the oddball Dutch MP Geert Wilders to Britain yesterday marks a further retreat from this country’s traditions of free speech. It stands in stark contrast to what happened exactly 20 years ago tomorrow, when Ayatollah Khomeini of Iran issued a fatwa calling for the death of Salman Rushdie for insulting the Prophet Mohammed in his book The Satanic Verses.

* Which clearly proves once your government starts f*kcing with language, engages in turnspeak and obfuscation, the alarm-bells should go off left, right and center. Nu-Labor is a disgrace.
