Revolting: a mad decision by a lost Israeli government

This “exchange” just makes no sense. It’s a disgrace.

Samir Kuntar and four other Lebanese prisoners will receive an official state welcoming when they are released by Israel.

The five men will be greeted at Beirut’s airport by Prime Minister Fuad Saniora and President Gen. Michel Suleiman.

Later, a huge rally will be held in the capital’s southern suburbs where Hizbullah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah will speak, the group’s Al-Manar TV has said.

French news agency AFP reported that the coastal road from the Israeli border to the southern port city of Sidon had been covered with Hizbullah decorations, and hundreds of volunteers had been hanging banners to praise Hizbullah’s role in the prisoners’ release throughout the south of the country.

UK: Mosque hope divides Brentwood

A COMMUNITY has been left divided by controversial plans for a mosque in Brentwood.

The Gazette exclusively revealed plans by the Muslim community last week to purchase a commercial property for use as a permanent prayer and community centre at an unnamed location in Pilgrims Hatch.

Update: The Gazette has removed most of the comments because of “Vitriolic, bigoted racist filth, unsubstantiated abuse” – according to Matt Adams, acting PC-commissar/Assistant editor who is spooked by racial vilification laws. Matt Adams sends out letters to  posters with “Your comment has been removed from publication for inciting racial  hatred.”

Urban affairs minister Fadela Amara has branded burqas as totalitarian symbols and said a decision to refuse citizenship to a woman who wore one would dissuade certain fanatics from imposing them on their wives.

Scottish government  funds Muslim Brotherhood

The Center for Social Cohesion (thanks to USS Neverdock) establishes that the Scottish Islamic Foundation, the recipient of the funds here, is a Muslim Brotherhood group.

SUDANESE President Omar al-Bashir danced, punched the air in delight and shouted “God is great” in his first public appearance yesterday as a war crimes suspect.Sudan promised to turn Darfur into a graveyard as it reacted to charges laid by an international prosecutor accusing Mr al-Bashir of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.

Pigs Heads In Mosque Yard Sparks Massive Riot

Thousands of Muslims rioted in India after pigs heads were found in the mosque yard.
Israel National News reported:

Nearly 2,000 Indian Muslims recently clashed with police after they discovered that pigs’ heads were placed inside the compounds of two mosques. A pig’s head was discovered at the washing area near the entrance of one mosque after more than a dozen Muslims already had entered. A growing crowd marched on a police station and demanded that the offenders be punished, but the mob then began throwing stones at passing buses, forcing police to react.

Policemen used tear gas to disperse the mob, and four policemen were inured. Buses and shops were torched and ransacked.

Dr Rowan Williams also criticised Christianity’s history for its violence, its use of harsh punishments and its betrayal of its peaceful principles.

His comments came in a highly conciliatory letter to Islamic leaders calling for an alliance between the two faiths for ‘the common good’.

* Rumor has it that some Islamic clerics died laughing when they heard that…

*  “Common Good” for Muslims means  sharia, submission to Islam. Nothing more, nothing less…

But it risked fresh controversy for the Archbishop in the wake of his pronouncement earlier this year that a place should be found for Islamic sharia law in the British legal system.

Dr Williams is also facing immense pressures from inside his own Church of England and Anglican Communion.

Democrat Barack Obama said Tuesday that the New Yorker magazine’s satirical cover depicting him and his wife as flag-burning, fist-bumping radicals doesn’t bother him but that it was an insult to Muslim Americans.

That’s right; Barack Obama and the Saudi-funded radical Islamic front group calling itself the Council on American Islamic Relations are on exactly the same page: Obama says New Yorker insulted Muslim Americans.

“You know, there are wonderful Muslim Americans all across the country who are doing wonderful things,” the presidential candidate told CNN’s Larry King. “And for this to be used as sort of an insult, or to raise suspicions about me, I think is unfortunate. And it’s not what America’s all about.”

Obama blamed himself for not being forceful enough in challenging some of the rumors about him, including that he is Muslim. Obama is Christian.

The son of a Kenyan father, Obama lived in the largely Muslim nation of Indonesia as a child. He dealt with similar questions in February after a photo surfaced of him wearing traditional Kenyan clothing during a visit to Africa in 2006.

The cover of the magazine, which hit newsstands Monday, depicts Obama in traditional Muslim clothing — sandals, robe and turban — while his wife, Michelle, has an assault rifle slung over one shoulder and is dressed in camouflage and combat boots with her hair in an Afro. A flag burns in a fireplace behind them as they bump fists, and a portrait of Osama bin Laden hangs above the mantel.

At the UK blog Harry’s Place, it is slowly dawning upon them that not just “Robert Spencer and his ilk” are responsible for people getting the idea that the Islamic concept of jihad may have something to do with terrorism. Somehow it seems to have escaped their notice — up until that item was posted in May 2008 — that Muslims are not committing acts of terror around the world because I told them to, but because they are able to explain and justify those acts of terror to peaceful Muslims by reference to the Islamic jihad theology that is embedded within the Qur’an, Sunnah, and rulings of all the schools of Islamic jurisprudence (madhahib).

Over at Harry’s Place, however, they still think that “jihad is what you make of it,” as if words have no meaning and Islamic theology has no content — as if you could easily read The Brothers Karamazov as a cookbook or Mein Kampf as an adventure novel, or of course the Qur’an and Sunnah and rulings of all the madhahib as not counseling warfare against and the subjugation of unbelievers. And they approvingly quote the mendacious Sheila Musaji as an authority for all this. Now they have been appropriately rewarded for their cluelessness and dhimmitude: Harry’s Place is being sued by a jihadist.

Even  (proudly)  clueless dhimmis have the right to free speech, and if it is curtailed for them, it is curtailed for everyone. Thus Harry’s Place deserves the support of all free people.

UPDATE: With customary graciousness, Harry’s Place says our support is “unwanted and unneeded” — without, of course, specifying anything we say or have ever said about Islamic jihad as inaccurate, and tarring us with the familiar “Islamophobia” brush that jihad propagandists and their witless dupes (like Harry) wield against anyone who speaks accurately about the elements of Islam that jihadists use to incite violence. Harry asks if being a clueless dhimmi is a “bad thing.” Yes, Harry, it is, and the fact that you don’t know why is only the beginning of your troubles.

As we speak, the official West and its public opinion are all now well-aware of the sensitivities of these issues. They have also started to look seriously into the question of freedom of expression from the perspective of its inherent responsibility, which should not be overlooked.”[7]

* Does the fact that the dominant media from the BBC to CNN, from The Guardian to The New York Times – those cowards that refuse to republish the twelve original Muhammad cartoons – have offended our religion, our traditions, our values in the past, mean that we now have to submit to a “deadly serious religion that answers insults with “action?”

Italy grapples with polygamy

A boom in the illegal marriages is a byproduct of voluminous immigration by Muslims. Authorities largely ignore the unions, leaving the women in a murky world with no recourse when things go wrong.

ROME — A few miles from the Vatican, Najat Hadi kept house with her husband, his other wife and their assorted children, an unhappy home with a hateful woman 10 years her junior and a cruel spouse who left her with a jagged scar peeking from her collar.

Finally, she says, her Egyptian-born husband, who worked in Rome making pizzas, beat her so badly that she left him. But he kept her children.

Thousands of polygamous marriages like Hadi’s have sprung up throughout Italy as a byproduct of a fast-paced and voluminous immigration by Muslims to this Roman Catholic country.

Despite the obvious culture clash, Italian authorities largely turn a blind eye, leaving women in a murky semi-clandestine world with few rights and no recourse when things go especially badly, as they did in Hadi’s case.

Italy is one of several European nations faced with the issue of polygamy. In Britain and Spain, where large Muslim communities have also settled, some officials favor recognizing polygamous marriage as a way to ensure the wives’ access to pensions, medical care and other state benefits.

His demand for Islamic-style punishments was revealed as the row continues over the Lord Chief Justice’s support for Sharia law.

Zahra belongs to hard-line Hizb Ut Tahrir, which once faced a ban.

At London’s Regent’s Park mosque he slated British democracy as criminal.

Tory MP Philip Davies said: “It’s unacceptable.”

You could be forgiven for thinking that you were looking at the catalogue for the forthcoming Boden sale that comes to the venerable London exhibition centre in a few weeks’ time.

The old Comintern would have instantly recognised the first rate tradecraft involved in organising all this. Just as Moscow and its allies knew how to organise a “popular front” to draw non-communist progressives and liberals into their orbit of influence, so some Islamists have honed a keen sense of how to present a non-threatening face to the West and to the many hundreds of decent, apolitical Muslims who turned up for a family day out.
