Gunmen conduct a ‘coordinated attack’ across Mumbai’s major tourist hubs, with over a dozen deaths and many injuries reported.

There are emerging reports of many fatalities and at least two dozen people injured in at least seven different attacks across the city.

They are also reporting more attacks in the suburbs, with five or six different incidents across the city. There may be three bombs involved, as well as gunfire.

A riot broke out over plans to convert a building in a Cairo suburb into a Christian church on Sunday. 

Muslims and Christians clashed in Mataria after worshippers arrived for a service at the site of the planned church. 

One man died in Aswan on the same day during a separate riot over the police killing of a suspected criminal. It is believed he died after inhaling tear gas.

Police in Mataria intervened when large numbers of Muslims and Christians faced off over a building which the Christians want to convert into a church. The police then clashed mainly with the Muslim side, they said.

THE alleged al-Qa’ida mastermind of the plot to bomb trans-Atlantic aircraft, Briton Rashid Rauf, is still alive, his lawyer claimed last night, amid reports that the terrorist organisation’s leaders are being forced to flee to new hideouts in Pakistan because of US unmanned drone attacks.

Western diplomats were quoted as saying a recent drone strike was launched after intelligence was received that Osama bin Laden’s deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri, was in the area.

AN insane killer who stabbed his wife to death has won the right to drive a taxi but passengers are not allowed to know his identity.

A tribunal granted the man taxi accreditation despite pleas from Victoria’s Director of Public Transport to ban him from the roads.

A Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal order prevents Melbourne newspaper the Herald Sun revealing the name of the driver, known only as ‘XFJ’.

*   Looks like our minders and activist judges know best what’s good for us. Fits in with Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon’s policy of not acknowledging a problem, I guess. But I wonder whether helping one unfortunate murderer actually hurts the interests of many hundreds of taxi drivers – and especially those of them that are African, too.

Update: A BBC radio presenter who asked a taxi firm not to send a Asian driver has been sacked. Sam Mason made the comments while ordering a taxi for her 14-year-old daughter who she said would be “freaked out” by a turban-wearing driver.

Fasten your seatbelts: UN passes measure limiting free speech

This has been a long time coming. The UN anti-blasphemy measure, although non-binding at this point, is part of a larger and long-term effort to restrict speech that Islamic authorities dislike, including honest examination of the motives and goals of jihad terrorists. The only victors can be the jihadists themselves: Western authorities, already mired in politically correct myopia, will grow even more afraid to speak openly about what they’re trying to do and what we can do to stop it. The losers can only be those who value freedom of speech and understand why it is so important in a genuinely pluralistic society. The UN measure moves the West one step closer to submitting to the hegemony of Islamic norms.

A massive brawl that occurred between Croat and Muslim students in the Bosnian city of Mostar is blamed on Wahabis, suggests the report by the NGO Croatia Libertas.

“It is about groups that have a radical interpretation of Islam and influence the youth. The attacks have spread on all high schools in Mostar,” says Leo Plockinic, representative from Croati Libertas.

Plockinic says that the organized Wahabis are armed with light weapons.
