Last week in Mumbai we witnessed as clear a case of carefully planned mass terrorism as we are ever likely to see.

The seven-venue atrocity was coordinated in a highly sophisticated way. The terrorists used BlackBerrys to stay in touch with each other during their three-and-half-day rampage, outwitting the authorities by monitoring international reaction to the attacks on British, Urdu and Arabic Web sites. It was a meticulously organized operation aimed exclusively at civilian targets: two hospitals, a train station, two hotels, a leading tourist restaurant and a Jewish center.

Murder in Mumbai: The work of ‘practitioners.’

There was nothing remotely random about it. This was no hostage standoff. The terrorists didn’t want to negotiate. They wanted to murder as many Hindus, Christians, Jews, atheists and other “infidels” as they could, and in as spectacular a manner as possible. In the Jewish center, some of the female victims even appear to have been tortured before being killed.

* The killers from Beslan used alcohol and heroin also. The word ‘assassin’ is derived from hashish,  (‘Hashishin’) which Muslim clerics used to give brainwashed young assassins before they went out to “kill and be killed in the way of Allah…”  But mind you; none of this has anything to do with Islam. Islam is a Religion of Peace and “Islam does not per mit this sort of barbaric crime”, as one cleric tells us. Or doesn’t it?

Indian police sources say tests on the bodies of dead Islamic fanatics revealed traces of stimulant drugs. One said: “We found injections containing traces of cocaine and LSD left behind by the terrorists and later found drugs in their blood.

India demands Pakistan hand over two jihadists

At least five terrorist gunmen have evaded capture in Mumbai and could make a secondary strike on India’s financial capital, police feared Monday morning.

Indian security forces are officially claiming that ten militants – nine of whom were killed and one caught alive – were behind a coordinated terror attack that claimed 172 lives.

However, the hijacked Indian fishing boat used by the gunmen to approach Mumbai, the crew of which were also slaughtered, had equipment for 15 men on board when it was discovered adrift off the city shore – suggesting that several gunmen could still be at large.

“Fifteen jackets were found, 15 toothbrushes even,” one police source said. “That more men were involved, is possible.”

Expressing a growing concern in Pakistan about a likely Indian response to the Mumbai terror attacks, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, who until early this year served as Pakistan’s federal minister for information and broadcasting, warned that if India attacks Pakistan, several Pakistans will be created within India.

Urging the Pakistani government to give a suitable reply to Indian accusations that the 11/26 Mumbai attacks were planned by Pakistani nationals, Ahmed added that the U.S., Israel and India are working to dismantle Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence and the country’s nuclear program.

Ahmed, who early this year formed his own political party called the Awami Muslim League, also asked the government of Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to stop the supply lines through Pakistan to the U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan. He added: “If Pakistan stops the supply lines, NATO cannot fight the Afghan war even for two days.” [2]  Try it, Ahmed!/ed

The BBC has been criticised for refusing to describe the perpetrators of the Bombay (Mumbai) massacre as terrorists.

The corporation has taken a policy decision to always refer to the gunmen in radio, television and online reports as militants despite reports linking the shooting to the Pakistani based terrorist group, Lashkar-e-Taiba. The group, whose name means Army of the Pious, is on the US watch list of terrorist organisations.

Respect MP George Galloway and the party’s leader, Cllr Salma Yaqoob, have today called for an urgent investigation by the Press Complaints Commission into “reckless, inaccurate and inflammatory” claims by several newspapers about the provenance of the gunmen who were responsible for the atrocities in Mumbai, India, last week.

It was established to fight against Indian rule in Kashmir and has past links to both Pakistani intelligence and al-Qaeda. L-e-T was founded in Afghanistan where it has said to have shared training camps with the Taliban and al-Qaeda.
