Last week the Amsterdam Court of Appeal ruled that the attorney-general should bring a case against Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilders. This leader of the right-wing Freedom Party has made a number of extreme remarks about Islam and Muslims, such as calling the Koran the “Islamic Mein Kampf” and referring to “fascist Islam.” The Amsterdam court contends that these and other such statements “affect the dignity of Muslims.” The attorney-general’s office had previously concluded that these and similar remarks were not punishable.

SAUDI authorities have rearrested nine Islamist militants, including former inmates of the US military detention centre at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, the interior ministry said.

Yemen still has about 94 more jihadists in Gitmo —but we can trust the Yemeni government that has promised “they won’t return to terrorism.”

SANAA: Yemen said yesterday it expected the repatriation soon of 94 Yemenis held at the US Guantanamo Bay prison camp, and vowed it would make sure they did not rejoin the ranks of Islamic militants.

“If a guy’s salad isn’t right, I’ll make a phone call to try and get him the correct salad,”said the 28-year-old guard, who is also a member of a task force.

The block guard recalled being attacked by a “cocktail” of feces, semen, blood and urine thrown by an inmate. He said guards are ordered to walk away.

“It’s humiliating,” the guard said. “A guy throws feces on you, and you’ve got to turn right back around and walk down a block that might have 40 people on it. They’re making their little comments, and you go home and you change and you come back to work. Take a shower. Go to medical, get your screening.”

The trial of Geert Wilders represents another blow against Dutch freedom

* The government, by means of (in)justice minister Hirsh Ballin, lied (as he usually does) that it will not be a political trial.

                  

 Even before Fitna was released early last year, Doekle Terpstra, a leading member of the Dutch establishment, called for mass rallies to protest the movie. Terpstra organized a coalition of political, business, academic, and religious leaders, the sole purpose of which was to try to freeze Wilders out of public debate. Dutch cities are riddled with terrorist cells and crowded with fundamentalist Muslims who cheered 9/11 and idolize Osama bin Laden, but for Terpstra and his political allies, the real problem was the one Member of Parliament who wouldn’t shut up. “Geert Wilders is evil,” pronounced Terpstra, “and evil has to be stopped.” Fortuyn, van Gogh, and Hirsi Ali had been stopped; now it was Wilders’s turn.

But Wilders—who for years now has lived under 24-hour armed guard—would not be gagged. Thus the disgraceful decision to put him on trial. In Dutch Muslim schools and mosques, incendiary rhetoric about the Netherlands, America, Jews, gays, democracy, and sexual equality is routine; a generation of Dutch Muslims are being brought up with toxic attitudes toward the society in which they live. And no one is ever prosecuted for any of this. Instead, a court in the Netherlands—a nation once famous for being an oasis of free speech—has now decided to prosecute a member of the national legislature for speaking his mind. By doing so, it proves exactly what Wilders has argued all along: that fear and “sensitivity” to a religion of submission are destroying Dutch freedom.

Vienna – Earth Times:  Austrian far-right parliamentarian Susanne Winter was convicted Thursday of incitement because of her anti-Muslim statements, including the claim that Islam’s prophet Mohammed was a paedophile. A court in Winter’s home town of Graz also found the 51-year-old politician guilty of humiliating a religion. She was sentenced to a fine of 24,000 euros (31,000 dollars) euros and a suspended prison term of three months, Austrian news agency APA reported.

The London School of Economics has just banned the young and distinguished Douglas Murray, the author and Director of the Centre for Social Cohesion, from their campus. Murray was to have chaired a debate about Islam titled “Islam or Liberalism. Which is the Way Forward?” The reason given was “security concerns.”

Not acceptable

* The London Evening Standard promptly smears Murray with the “Right Wing” label

According to Damian Thompson, of the London Telegraph, the School had no such fears when known “members of Al-Mujaharoun, a pro-terror Islamist organisation,” spoke there. Thompson was in attendance. “The presence of the group was announced in advance, but that was OK with the School. Presumably that was because it was also OK with the Islamic campus ideologues in front of whom it cowers.’ ”

As international attention is focused on Gaza, Taliban militants are enforcing Islamic shari’a in the SwatValley of Pakistan‘sNorth WestFrontierProvince (NWFP). Since January 15, 2009, the Taliban have enforced a complete ban on female education in the Swat district. The forced Islamization in the Swat district, which was once compared to Switzerland for its picturesque valley, has been underway in recent months, and was stepped up after the Pakistani government released Islamist leader Maulana Sufi Muhammad last year under a deal with the militants. The Taliban in the district are led by Maulana Sufi Muhammad and his son-in-law Maulana Fazlullah.

Some 400 private schools have been shut down, depriving about 40,000 girls of their right to education. Additionally, about 84,000 female students enrolled in government-run schools are unlikely to get an education, despite the Pakistani government’s pledge to reopen the schools beginning March 1, 2009.  At least 10 girls’ schools that tried to open after theJanuary 15, 2009 deadline by the Taliban were blown up by the militants in the town of Mingora, the headquarters of the Swat district.  The Taliban have also made it compulsory for men to wear caps and have banned shaving, beginning January 25, 2009.

Too many teenagers

Gunner Heinsohn, head of Bremen University’s Raphael Lemkin Institute of genocide research, says we’re creating a time bomb – almost literally – by financing Gaza’s baby boom:

As the world decries Israel’s attempt to defend itself from the rocket attacks coming from Gaza, consider this: When Hamas routed Fatah in Gaza in 2007, it cost nearly 350 lives and 1,000 wounded. Fatah’s surrender brought only a temporary stop to the type of violence and bloodshed that are commonly seen in lands where at least 30% of the male population is in the 15-to-29 age bracket.

In such “youth bulge” countries, young men tend to eliminate each other or get killed in aggressive wars until a balance is reached between their ambitions and the number of acceptable positions available in their society. In Arab nations such as Lebanon (150,000 dead in the civil war between 1975 and 1990) or Algeria (200,000 dead in the Islamists’ war against their own people between 1999 and 2006), the slaughter abated only when the fertility rates in these countries fell from seven children per woman to fewer than two. The warring stopped because no more warriors were being born.

In Gaza, however, there has been no demographic disarmament. The average woman still bears six babies. For every 1,000 men aged 40-44, there are 4,300 boys aged 0-4 years. In the U.S. the latter figure is 1,000, and in the U.K. it’s only 670.

And so the killing continues…

The reason for Gaza’s endless youth bulge is that a large majority of its population does not have to provide for its offspring. Most babies are fed, clothed, vaccinated and educated by UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East. Unlike the U.N. High Commission for Refugees, which deals with the rest of the world’s refugees and aims to settle them in their respective host countries, UNRWA perpetuates the Palestinian problem by classifying as refugees not only those who originally fled their homes, but all of their descendents as well…

If we seriously want to avoid another generation of war in Gaza, we must have the courage to tell the Gazans that they will have to start looking after their children themselves, without UNRWA’s help. This would force Palestinians to focus on building an economy instead of freeing them up to wage war.

Wakademic Fantasy Productions: "Sufi movements speak the language of peace, hope, and reconciliation, and condemn extremism"


* Usually, when wakademic ‘experts’ are trying to beautify Islam, it is simply a matter of following the money:  all too often one finds invitations to Islamic countries, prizes for this and that,  for being ‘a friend of such and such organization’,  we find earlier, colorful reports on how wonderful, how hospitable and how progressive this or that Moslem country is, and always, invariably, the “Islam cannot be blamed for terrorism”  apologies that stick to these wakademics like the odious ‘right wing’ label the media attaches to anyone who opposes the Islamic scourge.

Here we have a professor Philip Jenkins who shamelessly  puts lipstick on Sufism, something he obviously knows very little about. Instead of “speaking the language of peace, hope, and reconciliation and condemning terrorism”, there is nothing in Sufism that makes it different from mainstream Islam. The Sufi Koran is not peaceful and neither is their history. The Sufi’s support the jihad the same way the Sunni’s or the Shiites support the jihad, because that is the first and foremost obligation of the believers, as we can see here: Iraqi Sufis donate to Hamas, boast of jihad activity in Iraq

For years, the Islamic revival has seemed to be a story of ever-growing fundamentalism and political extremism, but around the world, Sufi orders are rapidly gaining strength — in Turkey and Syria, Uzbekistan and Indonesia. Sufism is also growing quickly in Iran, as younger Muslims seek a liberal and liberating kind of spirituality utterly different from anything the ayatollahs can provide. In 1979, Iran had 100,000 Sufis; today, there may be 5 million.
