Our enemies have not been shy about declaring their enmity. Time and again they have announced that they despise us; time and again they have called for our destruction.

They have announced it from the mosques of Gaza, as broadcast live by the Palestinian Authority: “Wherever you are, kill those Jews and those Americans who are like them — and those who stand by them. They are all in one trench, against the Arabs and the Muslims.”

They have proclaimed it a religious duty, as in the fatwa of Osama bin Laden, publicized worldwide in February 1998: “To kill the Americans and their allies, civilians, and military is an individual duty for every Muslim who can do it in any country in which it is possible to do it.”

They have made it a national crusade, as when Hashemi Rafsanjani, the speaker of the Iranian parliament,exhorted Islamic militants in 1994 to “hijack planes,” “blow up factories in Western countries,” and “declare open war on American interests throughout the world.”

On Sept. 11, 2001, a war was brought to our shores by a band of men, bound by a militant ideology, in an act of mass murder. The response by the United States was a so-called “War on Terror,” a reflex that has proved to be as ineffective as it has been costly.We have spent more than a trillion dollars on invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. More than 5,000 American soldiers have died in the last eight years, and tens of thousands have been wounded. Yet, there has been no sustainable victory for the United States — no strategic victory, no political victory, no moral victory. Islamic terrorism continues around the globe unabated.

The Bush and Obama administrations’ war has failed because there is no such thing as war on terror. War on terror is war on shadows. Terrorism is only a weapon, a technique, not an enemy that can be fought effectively. A “War on Terror” is a fool’s errand.

Dutch biggest newspaper calls it the trial of the century (NL), because the government today announced it is going to trial Geert Wilders on January 20th (See also: the earlier court rulling that made it possible). The timing is remarkable, because it’s just before the municipality elections, a busy time for the politician.

Busy or not, Geert Wilder [sic] will have to defend himself in criminal court for speaking out against Islam.

So via multiculturalism and political correctness, Sharia norms are now being enforced by the Dutch secular authorities.

The charges brought against him are: racism and hate mongering (no actual hate crimes have ever been connected to him, his political movement or his speeches).

Renowned criminal trial lawyer Bram Moszkowicz will represent him durring [sic] the trial. It’s still unknown what his defense will look like. But in today’s paper Wilders says he might call radical Imams and other idiots to the stand in support of his defense.

“I find it horrible that I’m prosecuted” says Wilders. “This is a political trial and it’s sad that I’m prosecuted as a criminal for only voicing my political opinions. I hope free speech will prevail. [But] I am convinced that the trial can only lead to my acquittal”….

Note that the SIOE demonstration didn’t even take place. The people who were responsible for the violence were the Muslim counter-demonstrators. There is an awful lot of passive voice in this egregious BBC story, but what happened is still more or less clear. The mainstream media only generally breaks out the passive voice in large quantities when it doesn’t want to identify the perpetrators — after all, one wouldn’t want to appear “Islamophobic,” eh wot?

Eight people have been arrested during a demonstration outside a mosque in north-west London where an anti-Islamic protest was planned.

About 1,000 people gathered outside Harrow Central Mosque as activists from Stop Islamification of Europe planned to demonstrate outside the mosque.

Unite Against Fascism were also present to “defend the mosque”, they said.

So it’s “fascist” to oppose the spread of an ideology that would extinguish free speech, freedom of conscience, and the equality of rights of women with men and of people of all creeds? Tell me another.

Bricks, bottles and firecrackers were thrown at police officers who are present in riot gear at the scene.

Tundra Tabloids:  They will not tolerate dissent, Islam will refuse the non-Muslim the right to protest against it. So they do what they do best in quashing dissent, start a riot to help end the demonstration quickly.

Police were caught in a stand-off between anti-Islam and Muslim protesters as hundreds joined demonstrations outside a London mosque.

At least eight arrests were made during the day as rival groups descended on the Harrow Central Mosque. The mood soured when a gang of at least 100 pro-Islamic demonstrators broke away from the main body to chase away a small number of the anti-Mosque marchers.

Councillor David Ashton, leader of Harrow Council:

“I would like to pay tribute to Harrow Mosque and its officials for their earlier calls for restraint and moderation. It is a pity those words were not heard by those who came to Harrow from outside our area.”  More from the Telegraph

For the younger generation of Muslims, the tragedy can even seem like a distant memory. “Time marches on,” said Souha Azmeh Al-Samkari, a 22-year-old student at the University of Dayton in Ohio.

The “Obama-effect”…

DALLAS, Sept 9 (Reuters) - The percentage of Americans who believe Islam encourages violence has declined in recent years but remains far above where it was in 2002, while very basic knowledge about the faith has shown modest increases, according to a new survey by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life.

The poll’s findings, released ahead of the eighth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, come against the backdrop of President Barack Obama’s attempts to reach out to the Islamic world and eroding public support for the war in Muslim Afghanistan as U.S. combat deaths there rise to record levels.

Thirty-eight percent of those polled believed Islam was more likely than other faiths to encourage violence, down from the 45 percent who held this view two years earlier.

But that number has fluctuated over the years and in 2002, when it was first asked the year after the Sept. 11 attacks, only 25 percent of the U.S. public said they thought Islam encouraged more violence than other faiths.
