Civilization at War with Itself–  Sultan Knish

If there is one guiding motto for modern liberalism, it is Pogo’s, “We have met the enemy… and he is us”. That core paradigm usually rendered in more poetic and radically charged prose traveled from radical salons to become embedded in the educational system and popular culture. And its message is very simple, our values, our way of living, our traditions, our nation and our civilization are responsible for most of what is wrong with the world. We are the enemy and we must defeat our values, our nation and our civilization for the sake of the world and the future.

What has followed since then has taken place on the grim battlefield of a civilization at war with itself, at war with itself in college campuses, on editorial pages, on movie screens and books, and everywhere that the “We are the enemy” meme of liberalism has penetrated. And the bad news is that in the name of tolerance, the environment, the moral high ground and a thousand other liberal pieties, we are being defeated. Civilization is losing the war.

The tide of car burnings, gang rapes and bombings flowing across the streets of Oslo and Sydney, Jerusalem, Paris and London, do not mark the victory of barbarism over civilization, but rather a poisoned distorted version of civilization over itself. The celebration of the savage, the mad bomber and the rapist, the bearded dole taker who preaches the virtues of Jihad and his smooth Oxford educated colleague who does the same in far subtler consonants, is civilization dancing around the fading bonfire it has made of itself. Throw on the canon, toss on every ancient value and virtue, pile on technology and achievement, then step back and dance madly to the wailing strains of the music of some invisible Nero while it all burns.

This is no random madness, no Mansonesque sickness of the spirit, no deranged chemical flows along the gaps in the nerves of the brain. This is a carefully cultivated ideological madness, supplemented with drugs and the self-consciously nihilistic imagery of a culture that has fallen in love with its own self-destruction, that sees no frontiers remaining to it, but the final one of its own annihilation. The death of a civilization. The dark undiscovered country that follows when all that has been built is finally torn down.

Like a willful cancer with arms and legs it attacks every element that can keep civilization alive with furiously self-righteous malignancy. If your national security offends you, cut it off. Throw open the borders as wide as you can, and make sure that those you bring in are the very dregs that no sane country would take. Shout on behalf of terrorists, beat the drum for cop killers and rend your clothes for serial killers scheduled for execution. If the schools teach any useful skills, put an end to it. If there is truth to be found anywhere, mock it until it goes away.

And when you have finally bankrupted your country to its very utmost range of debt, when you have finally made it impossible for anyone to earn a living without the intervention of the government, when you have made it illegal for anyone to have a stay unconventional thought, then you will have finally brought the edifice of civilization to the point at which there is nothing left to do but to bring it all crashing down under its own weight.

Prospective jurors weren’t present for that outburst, but they were in the courtroom to hear her say, “I’m boycotting the trial…there are too many injustices.”

At another point, Siddiqui repeatedly refused to talk to her own lawyers, saying she didn’t trust them.

“I don’t trust you either,” she told Berman.

She even tried to toss a handwritten note to prosecutors requesting time each day to pray. Berman said time would be set aside.

Siddiqui, 37, is accused of picking up an M-4 Army rifle and firing two rounds at a team of Americans who tried to question her in Afghanistan on July 18, 2008.

Prosecutors argue she screamed, “Allah Akbar” and vowed to kill Americans before she was wrestled to the ground. She allegedly had two pounds of poisonous sodium cyanide and hundreds of pages of notes and documents on how to build chemical and biological weapons.

If they didn’t want Muslims to become ‘terrorists’ over the killing and murder of their brothers and sisters all over the world then there is a simple solution – stop killing them.

In  most Muslim countries,  nobody wore the dreaded rags in the seventies. The veil is not a fashion statement and is not “traditional dress”. The hijab is the ultimate in-your-face insult to infidels, to women and civilization. It signals resentment and Mohammedan hatred/ed)

Arab News wants  you to “Correct distorted picture of Islam”

Does the world know the real meanings of Islam, or does it only know the irresponsible behavior of some reckless Muslims? I think the second question is the most relevant. People living in remote villages in Europe, America, Brazil or Argentina will not look at Islam academically but rather through the extreme conduct of some Muslims: murder, threats, blowing up trains and hijacking aircraft. They will not know about Islam from great Muslim scholars, but rather from people like Osama Bin Laden, Mullah Muhammad Omar, Ayman Al-Zawahri and others whose hands have been soaked in the blood of the innocent.

In his interview with Al-Watan newspaper on Wednesday, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said he would make efforts with Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to promote the Muslim world in order to improve the image of Islam in the West and correct misconceptions about it.

He said he was thinking seriously establishing a front to spread the correct understanding of Islam.

I think the first thing we should begin with is to purify the major sources from which the communities come to know about Islam being mosques or schools.

The curricula might project a distorted picture of Islam either because they contain extreme and rigid opinions canceling the other or because they are unable to cope with new developments in the world.

We cannot correct Islam through advertisement and publicity but rather through being a role model in conduct, discipline and good manners. It is ironic to talk about the tolerance of Islam while some preachers hit girls with sticks and follow young men in our streets.

By doing so we are contradicting ourselves and affirming the already bad picture of Islam. We cannot correct the real understanding of Islam while we are doing provocative things. This is a truth that many people do not understand.

We’ve written from time to time about the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, also known as EuroMed, and commonly referred to as the Mediterranean Union. Henrik Ræder Clausen at Europe News has written an article about the approach of a significant date in the EuroMed timeline. With his permission, it is reproduced below.

The Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, also known as EuroMed, has been pretty much under the radar for 15 years. When it caused some public discussion in 2007, it was renamed “Union for the Mediterranean”, and quietly permitted to proceed. Not much was heard of it, but now EuropeNews has the scoop: It is being established now — and we have a window of merely 14 days to protest it.

The news is tucked away in this discreet ANSAmed news item:

MED UNION: JORDANIAN MASADEH APPOINTED AS SECRETARY

Quote:

Ahmad Khalaf Masadeh, Jordanian ambassador to Brussels, has today been appointed as secretary general of the Mediterranean Union.

It is remarkable that an ambassador of a non-democratic nation has been appointed to head the Union. Now, it should not be assumed that the European Union, run by a non-elected Commission and having a non-elected President, should care too much about such details.

But since the 16 non-EU states of the Mediterranean Union does include decent democracies (Israel, Croatia) as well as more dubious ones (Albania, Bosnia, Turkey), it would seem appropriate to appoint a representative from a democratic country to head the Union.

There we have it — full stealth mode. Unless someone protests loudly, this will proceed. Now, in order to field a reasonable protest, one needs to know what goes on, and politicians in democracies need to know if they have public support for the protest or not. Since neither of these are the case, no protests can be expected, and the project will continue.

Scott Ritter of Delmar, N.Y., who served as chief U.N. weapons inspector in Iraq from 1991-98 and who was an outspoken critic of the second Bush administration in the run-up to the war in Iraq, is accused of contacting what turned out to be a Barrett Township police officer posing undercover as a teen girl …
