While the media and politicians engage in frenzied debate about the virtues and vices of building—or preventing the building of—a Muslim community center (cum mosque) near the “sacred ground” of 9/11, Iran continues to build a nuclear weapon, as the Israelis and Palestinians take a tentative step toward building a peaceful resolution to their age-old conflict. Inevitably, whenever Middle East issues take center stage, the question of the role of lobbies, particularly those that advocate for foreign countries, becomes a hot topic. This book by longtime Middle East authority, Mitchell Bard, is a must read for anyone who cares—and who doesn’t?—about the role of lobbies in influencing American policy in the Middle East. Its thesis, which is sure to be controversial, is easily summarized:

“If the reputation then builds that the Saudis take care of friends when they leave office, you’d be surprised how much better friends you have when they are just coming into office.”

Yes Virginia, there is a big bad lobby that distorts U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East way out of proportion to its actual support by the American public. Professors Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer, author of the screed, The Israel Lobby, are right about that. But the offending lobby is not AIPAC, which supports Israel, but rather the Arab lobby, which opposes the Jewish state.

Israel and the Palestinians Arabs are once again negotiating their future relationship. One of the most difficult issues they confront is the status of Jerusalem.

On September 22, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton congratulated Saudi King Abdullah on the occasion of his country’s national day. She reserved special praise for Abdullah’s support of the Arab Peace Initiative (API), which calls for an Israeli withdrawal from all territories gained in 1967 and for East Jerusalem to be the capital of a Palestinian state. She suggested that this plan would serve as a philosophical basis for the ongoing talks. “As we continue working to support direct talks between the Israelis and the Palestinians, the principles enshrined in the Arab Peace Initiative are more important than ever,” Clinton wrote.

Jews and Christians know that Israel’s claim to Jerusalem is rooted in the ancient Jewish connection to that city. Israel’s declaration of independence speaks of both “natural and historic right.” Jerusalem is the centerpiece of that historic right.

Accused D.C. jihadist was a “quiet, suburban father”

BALTIMORE: Farooque Ahmed, the Pakistani-born Virginia Musel- man accused of plotting to bomb Washington-area subway stations, lived in middle-class suburban comfort with his wife and their infant son. They held steady jobs in northern Virginia’s technology industry and mostly kept to themselves.They got along with neighbours, sometimes even cooking saffron rice and chicken for them. Ahmed enjoyed fishing, and his English-born wife, Sahar Mirza-Ahmed, was part of a group of “Hip Muslim Moms.”

Burning desire:

Yet Ahmed had a burning desire to join the global jihad, according to federal authorities. Beyond his alleged terror plot, which involved scouting Metro stations that he believed al-Qaeda would bomb, authorities said he wanted to travel to Afghanistan to kill American soldiers.

I would be surprised if the CNN moonbats get the message even after this. They have their heads so far up their asses that they probably believe good old Anjem is GWB in drag.

During an appearance on CNN’s Parker/Spitzer, Radical Muslim cleric Imam Anjem Choudary revealed a few unsettling details of Islamic extremists’ worldview, including the role of “moderate” Muslims in spreading Sharia law around the globe. Choudary says that spreading Sharia law is a “noble” goal as it represents a “superior way of life” compared to the “shackles of man-made law.”

According to Choudary, violent terrorist attacks are a “peaceful” warning to countries like the United States and Israel, whom he claims are occupying Muslim lands. He also admits to encouraging Muslims in the United States to carry out these kinds of attacks.

Spitzer: Are you communicating with individuals in the United States and encouraging them to participate in attacks of this sort?
Choudary: Of course I am. I am participating in communication with people all around the world. As you know, the internet makes the world a very small place. … My invitation is a peaceful one to people to embrace Islam, and to warn them of the consequences of occupying Muslim land. I think that’s a very decent thing…

Flight attendant raised concerns about a smoke detector in a lavatory used by a University of North Dakota Muslim student from Saudi Arabia. The student and two other Muslim students he was traveling with were detained and questioned by Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents and the local FBI for five hours….

Case 2.) Four Muslim men were escorted off a Delta flight when it landed at theMinneapolis-St. Paul International Airport last month. A flight attendant had reported suspicious behavior….

Case 3.) On Tuesday, a Muslim family in Tennessee was removed from a Delta flight operated by Comair at theMemphis International Airport. According to a Comair spokesperson, the “crew became concerned when a passenger exited the lavatory after an extended period of time and damage was found in the lavatory.”

CAIR-MN Civil Rights Director Taneeza Islam blames Juan Williams:

Ms. Islam cited remarks by former NPR analyst Juan Williams that seemed to legitimize profiling Muslim passengers. NPR terminated Williams’ contract after he said, “[I]f I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.” Ms. Islam noted that none of the terrorists in past incidents on airplanes wore “Muslim garb.”

“We believe these incidents are based on stereotyping that targets Muslim passengers and those perceived to be Muslim.”

In 2006, six imams, or Islamic religious leaders Mohammedan agit-props, filed a lawsuit against US Airways after they were removed from a flight in Minneapolis based on their race and religion. The imams and the air carrier settled out of court last year.

And the billions of dollars we have to spend to prevent these “man made disasters” are a small price to pay  for bridge building,  interfaith dialogue and other cultural enrichment from the  Muslims among us, right?  Ah yes, forget about blaming Al Qaeda either, because ‘al-Qaeda (is) no longer a threat to the United States’, according to certain US officials in the Obama administration.

A Yemeni diplomat in Washington said his government has opened a full-scale investigation into the incident but it was too early to speculate or reach any conclusions….

The West has no right to tell Hamas how to govern the Gaza Strip, Mahmoud Zahar, a senior leader from the Islamist group told Reuters in an interview published Thursday.

Zahar went on to say that Islamic traditions should be respected, and charged that Europe “promotes promiscuity and political hypocrisy,” according to the Reuters report. “We have the right to control our life according to our religion, not according to your religion. You have no religion. You are secular,” he was quoted as saying.

“You do not live like human beings… You accept homosexuality. And now you criticize us?” he went on. “We are the ones who respect women and honor women … not you.”
