According to Bismarck’s best-known maxim on Europe’s most troublesome region, the Balkans are not worth the bones of a single Pomeranian grenadier. Americans could be forgiven for harboring similar sentiments after the murder of two U.S. airmen in Germany by a Kosovar Muslim.
The Islamic principle of qisas, or retaliation, allows for blood money (diyya) to be paid by the perpetrator to the relatives of the deceased in cases of accidental death or even murder. This is not just an Islamic ritual; it is part of Islamic law and suffices as punishment for the murder if the relatives of the deceased agree.

A PROMINENT Islamic community group that planned to present a peace prize to the son of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi has withdrawn his nomination after his support for the violent suppression of demonstrations in his homeland.
(Prominent?  What makes a group of  bludgers prominent?)
Keysar Trad, from the Islamic Friendship Association of Australia, confirmed his organisation had intended to award Saif al-Islam Gaddafi its Champion of Cultural Inclusion prize for 2011.
He had been nominated by members of the Libyan community in Australia for his work freeing political prisoners detained for opposing his father’s regime and securing the release of Bulgarian nurses wrongly accused of infecting children with HIV.
Hmm, what a racket that was. His father created a problem that only his favorite son could solve? How slick!
(Bloomberg)– Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry said that demonstrations, marches and sit-ins are “strictly” prohibited under the kingdom’s laws, the Saudi Press Agency said, citing an unidentified official at the Interior Ministry
Protests “contradict” Islam and the values of society, the Riyadh-based news service cited the official as saying. They harm public interest, infringe on the rights of others, spread “chaos” and lead to bloodshed, the official said. (via ZIP)
Saudi Arabia drafts in up to 10,000 troops ahead of protests
King Abdullah unveiled $37bn in benefits for citizens crumbs for the peasants after returning from abroad last week
Saudi Arabia is drafting in up to 10,000 security forces to the north eastern Muslim Shia provinces ahead of mass protests planned next week.
Desperate to avoid mass uprisings against the House of Saud, security forces have deployed in huge numbers across the region. King Abdullah is also reported to have told neighbouring Bahrain that if they do not put down their own ongoing Shia revolt, his own forces will.
In response to the massive mobilisation, protesters are planning to place women on the front ranks to discourage Saudi forces from firing on them.
You really can’t make this stuff up: a consulting company founded by Harvard professors has received millions of dollars from Moammar Gadhafi for, in effect, rendering the services of propaganda machine to the deranged dictator.
The Boston Globe reports that the professors tried to help improve the dictator’s image:
Extolled the importance of his theories on democracy and his “core ideas on individual freedom.’’
Prince Alwaleed has given considerable amounts of money to American universities as well — notably Georgetown, where the lackadaisical pseudo-academic John Esposito heads the Prince Alwaleed Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding. This story shows why the intellectual climate in Middle East Studies departments all over the U.S., as well as the U.K., is so pro-jihad and anti-freedom, and doesn’t allow for any dissenting voices.

LONDON — The London School of Economics announced late Thursday that an independent inquiry would examine all of the university’s dealings with Libyaafter its director resigned amid an uproar over a major donation from a Libyan charity and a training contract with the Libyan government.
The inquiry is to be led by a prominent jurist, Harry Woolf, the former Lord chief justice of England and Wales.

A BBC report stated that members of the Tuareg community in Mali confirmed that a large number of their fellow tribe journeyed to Libya in the past week to help Gaddafi fight protesters.
“About 200-300 have left in the last seven days,” said a senior elected Tuareg official from the Kidal region in northern Mali where many Tuareg live, according to BBC. “They are being paid about $10,000 to join up and then I’ve heard they are being told that they will get $1,000 a day to fight.”(Business Times)
(ANSAmed) – MADRID, MARCH 4 – Muammar Gaddafi has recruited more than 800 Tuaregs, the nomads with blue turbans coming from Mali and Niger, for his personal defence, sources in security services told El Pais today. The Libyan dictator is holding out against the uprising thanks to the army’s elite troops and the sub-Saharan mercenaries he recruited to fight for him. According to El Pais, Gaddafi’s regime has opened a recruitment office in a hotel in the capital of Mali owned by a Libyan company. There are around 1.5 million Tuaregs spread over the Sahel desert, which crosses Africa from Sudan to Mauritania. Most of them live in the north of Mali and in Niger, as well as in Burkina Faso, Algeria and Libya. In Libya’s southern region of Ghat live around 70,000 Tuaregs.
No free speech for you, sucker: CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper attributed the charges against his group to the “extreme anti-Muslim blogosphere.” Once again, this execrable Islamic supremacist liar accuses others ofwhathehimselfdoes.
Education Minister Luc Chatel has weighed in to complicate the lives of Muslim women in France even more, in addition to the debate on Islam before the 2012 presidential election, which is being hijacked by the far right with increasing frequency. In an excessively zealous application, in the name of secularism, of the old 2004 law that bans “any symbol that displays one’s religion” in schools, he has asked Muslim moms who want to accompany their children on field trips to leave their veils at home, whether they be the full version or simple headscarves.

In October 1998, when Amina and Sarah were 9 and 8 years old, they accused their father of sexual abuse.
The allegations were reported to the Hill County sheriff’s office, where the girls told a detective their father had been touching them inappropriately. Amina told authorities she had been penetrated at least once.
Their mother swore in an affidavit that the allegations were true. (here)
Tissy withdrew the affidavit she originally signed when the girls were seven and eight, testifying that Yaser had raped them.
Flashback:
The mother who lured her two young daughters, Sarah and Amina, to their tragic deaths at the hand of their father, Yaser Said, now regrets what she did. Downplaying her own role, or rather, insisting that she is innocent, Patricia (“Tissy”) Owens calls the murder of her daughters an “honor killing” by an “evil man.” Despite years of paternal child abuse at home, “Tissy” now insists that she had no idea that Yaser was actually going to kill the girls whom he sexually and physically abused and whose “too Western” ways enraged him. When American mother Melissa Bender married Pakistani Mohammad Khan, she brought three children from a previous marriage into the relationship. Today the children are in protective custody after police discovered that her 13 year old daughter, Jessie Bender wasn’t taken away by a predator, but that the predator had been right in her own house.
Thanks to Vlad we have video:
Mohammad Khan was planning to take Melissa and Jessie to Pakistan, where the 13 year old girl feared she would be forced into an arranged marriage. Instead she bravely went on the run and the police department appears to be doing the right thing. For now.
Police: 13 Year Old Ran Away Because She Feared Arranged Marriage
Had Mohammad Khan taken her to Pakistan and married her off, it would have been almost impossible for the child to escape again. Particularly from a rural area. She would have been repeatedly raped by her “husband”, beaten by her in-laws and turned into a slave. And Khan would have likely profited from the exchange. Khan didn’t just marry a middle aged woman, he married a woman with at least one girl at home. And in Pakistan that translates into a salable commodity. Â Â (Read it all…)
Jessie Bender was about to be taken on a two-month trip to Pakistan. Why didn’t her mother and stepfather just claim to investigators that their daughter was jumping to conclusions and overreacting?
The parents’ elaborate lies suggest they had something to hide. Britain’s forced-marriage investigators have seen many a case that started with the ruse of an extended “family vacation” overseas.
Child marriage persists in the Muslim world because Muhammad married a nine-year-old himself (in human years, not Galapagos turtle-years as desperate apologists are bound to claim some time), and Qur’an 33:21 upholds him as a “beautiful pattern of conduct” without exception. Jessie Bender’s story shows that “pattern of conduct” can and does endanger girls in America. “Parents of Jessie Bender, 13, lied about daughter, cops say; Was trying to escape arranged marriage,” from the New York Daily News, March 3 (thanks to all who sent this in):
A 13-year-old girl reported missing by her parents was really trying to escape an arranged marriage in Pakistan, police said Wednesday.
Only eight boats so far this year, but I suspect that as the cyclone season wanes, these two may be the harbinger of more: Â (Andrew Bolt)
How do you like being screwed in the name of care and compassion?
The Melbourne Age MyCareer [Saturday February 26] had a whole section dedicated to how The Department of Immigration is recruiting for Case Managers and Assistant Directors to help ‘process’ the massive explosion of illegal entrants.
Not a bad gig too. $62,000 plus allowancesfor Case Manager and $85,000 plus allowances for Assistant Directors. Super would be separate. There are “several positions” which effectively means multiple of ten vacancies.
What a disgraceful indictment of not only mismanagement and loss of sovereignty, but of the Australian taxpayer.
“The father of the Muslim woman was killed by his cousin because he did not kill his daughter to preserve the family’s honor, which led the woman’s brother to avenge the death of his father by killing the cousin. The village Muslims blamed the Christians.” Click over to Jihad Watch to unravel that. (H/T Vlad Tepes)
