Around 1,000 people rallied against plans to build a large Islamic school in south-west Sydney last night.

The Quranic society has lodged a development application for a 1,200-place school with Camden Council but Mayor Chris Paterson says there have already been 284 submissions against the proposal.

Councillor Paterson says most of the opposition is on planning and traffic grounds.

One woman speaking at last night’s meeting said residents were concerned about traffic and they did not want people from Muslim backgrounds like in areas closer to Sydney.

“I believe in everyone having their own religion, whether they’re Catholic, Church of England or Muslims – they’re fine – but I’ve seen what’s happened at Bankstown,” she said.

“Bankstown used to be a really nice town. People are terrified.”

Local federal MP Pat Farmer, who also attended the meeting, says it is not a racist issue.

From October 26-30, a mob of Druse villagers in Peki’in in the Galilee launched what has all the markings of a pogrom against the four Jewish families in the village. They burned their cars and surrounded and torched their homes.

The police took a full day to come to the Jews’ defense. And when they did, the Druse mob kidnapped a policewoman and only set her free in exchange for their cohorts who had been arrested. The police then set about evacuating the Jews from their encircled homes and did nothing to prevent their homes from being destroyed by the mob.

Now the Knesset’s Interior Committee is demanding that a governmental commission of inquiry be set up to investigate what the Druse claim was police brutality in attempting to disperse the violent mob. For its part the Olmert government is distancing itself from Internal Security Minister Avi Dichter’s decision to suffice with an internal police investigation of the policemen’s behavior at the scene.

A Palestinian “university student” supposedly trapped in Gaza tried to slip past Israeli authorities and into Texas with a forged document—but was thwarted by the Associated Press.

A Palestinian included by a human rights group as one of hundreds of university students trapped in Gaza is apparently not a student and used what appeared to be a forged document to make his case to leave for Texas, The Associated Press learned on Thursday.

“Gisha,” a human rights group advocating freedom of movement for Palestinians, is pressing the Israeli Supreme Court to allow university students to leave Gaza to continue their studies abroad. The group included Yaser Betar in its suit, presenting the court with a one-page document from the University of North Texas affirming that he is enrolled in a doctorate program.

But after the AP sent the document to the university, its spokeswoman replied that the document was not authentic, and Betar “is not currently enrolled at the university. He studied Engineering Technology as an undergraduate student from spring 1992 to fall 1998 and did not earn a degree.”

‘Extremists’ are grooming children and teenagers to plot terrorist attacks against Britain, the director of the domestic spy agency said Monday.

But Jonathan Evans, making his first public speech since becoming director-general of Britain’s MI5 agency in April, said vital resources needed to tackle terrorism are being diverted to counter the espionage threat from Russia and China.

“Terrorists are methodically and intentionally targeting young people and children in this country,” Evans said, according to a text of his speech in Manchester, England. “They are radicalizing, indoctrinating and grooming young, vulnerable people to carry out acts of terrorism.”

Testimony from a U.S. terrorist-turned-witness in British court cases has revealed how young Britons are trained for attacks at terrorist camps in tribal areas of Pakistan.

Evans said though Pakistan remains a key training ground for Britons, similar centers are emerging elsewhere. Al-Qaida in Iraq is attempting to stage attacks outside Iraq and parts of East Africa, particularly Somalia, have become a key area for training and planning of attacks on Britain, he said.

Evans said thwarting plots alone is not enough to stop the threat of extremist terrorism, and urged the government and society to counter the message of radical preachers.

“If we only react tactically while our enemies plan strategically, we shall be hard put to win this. A key part of our strategy must be perseverance,” Evans said at a newspaper editors’ conference. “It starts with rejection of the violent extremist ideology across society.”

He said al-Qaida “has a clear determination to mount terrorist attacks against the United Kingdom.”

But Evans warned that efforts to tackle terrorism are being stalled by work to halt foreign intelligence agents from stealing sensitive information on civilian and military technology. He singled out agents from Russia and China.

“So, despite the Cold War ending nearly two decades ago, my service is still expending resources to defend the U.K. against unreconstructed attempts by Russia, China and others, to spy on us,” he said.

SENATE hopeful Pauline Hanson has accused the Federal Government of opening up the immigration floodgates to people “who have no intention of being Australian”.

Ms Hanson, who is running in the federal election under the banner of Pauline’s United Australia Party, was campaigning on similar policies to those that won her international notoriety a decade ago, including calling for a moratorium on Muslim immigration.

Campaigning in NSW, the right-wing firebrand told website www.federalelection.com.au she was worried about the loss of Australian values, particularly as a result of Muslim immigration.

“I’ve seen the destruction of our industry, manufacturing, our farmers, everything that is Aussie and to be proud of … that’s been lost,” she said.

“They’ve just opened up the floodgates to allow people here that have no intention of being Australian or being proud Australians.

“I’ve actually now called for a moratorium on Muslim immigration because I believe it’s not for reasons of religious or any other reason.

“But I think it is a cultural difference to us as Australians and we must protect our own culture.”

Ms Hanson, who co-founded the One Nation party, listed “Australian values” as the nation’s culture, way of life and standard of living.

She said if she held the balance of power in the Senate she would be willing to block legislation she did not agree with.

“If it is not in the best interests of our country and the Australian people, yes I would,” she said.

“I wouldn’t do deals and sell myself out or the people out for that.

“I would fight to make the politicians accountable to us and that’s what they haven’t done and that’s why I’m standing again and that’s why people are getting behind me in the support.

“They don’t believe that there is true representation.”

Ms Hanson’s vote will be bolstered by the fact she has registered a party.

When Ms Hanson ran for the Senate in 2004 she appeared under the line as an individual candidate – a position which historically attracts fewer votes.

The Australian Democrats have accused Family First of “rewarding” Pauline Hanson for her “extremist” views by giving her its preferences.

The right-wing firebrand’s chances of being elected to a Queensland senate seat have been boosted by Family First, which has revealed it will give her its preferences after the coalition.

Democrats Senator Andrew Bartlett, who faces a battle to retain his seat, accused Family First of rewarding Ms Hanson for her “extremist and destructive” views.

His comments came after the former One Nation leader on Sunday renewed her calls for a halt to Muslim immigration, saying some migrants had no intention of being Australian.

“The Family First party clearly believes that families don’t come first if they are Muslim, African or Asian families,” Senator Bartlett said in a statement.

“This sort of prejudice and ignorance repeatedly expressed by Pauline Hanson is incredibly damaging to our social fabric, as well as incredibly hurtful to Muslim Australians.

“It should be unequivocally opposed, not rewarded with preferences.”

Senator Bartlett said if there was a large swing away from the coalition, there was a “real chance” that Family First’s senate preferences would flow to Ms Hanson should she outpoll them.

“Combined with favourable preference allocations from a range of smaller groups … there is no doubt Pauline Hanson is now a credible chance if she gains a reasonable primary vote herself,” Senator Bartlett said.

He listed the smaller groups as the Shooters’ Party, two different fishing parties, the non-Custodial Parents’ Party, One Nation, the Liberty and Democracy Party, the Carers’ Party and some independents.

Filmed footage taken on Monday shows a terrorist cell captured on tape while launching mortar bombs from an elementary school for boys in the town of Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip.

The footage, taken by IDF aircraft on Monday, October 29, 2007 at approximately 9:00 am, shows three terrorists preparing and then launching the mortars from the school, which they used for cover immediately afterwards. The IDF targeted and hit the terrorists as they were fleeing the school premises.

UK: Hypocritical Mosque Chairman Slams Report

* More lies and denial from the creeps who deny responsibility: its never about what they say and do, but whining and complaining that they have been found out…

The report published on Monday 28, October by the Policy Exchange think-tank has been condemned by the chairman of Birmingham’s Central Mosque. The Policy Exchange sent researchers to almost 100 mosques, and found extremist literature in a quarter of the mosques visited. Much of this material was of Saudi Arabian origin.

The chairman of Birmingham Central Mosque is 84-year old Mohammad Naseem (pictured above left), who claims to be a “moderate”. He is a bizarre character, whose hypocrisies I will describe below. In an article from the Birmingham Post, Naseem called the Policy Exchange study “irresponsible”.

He said: “A mosque is an open, public place and anyone can distribute literature or leave literature in a mosque. The real question is who is publishing these leaflets? These are people that spread hatred and the people who do publish this literature generally don’t put their name on it. If such literature comes to our notice we will confiscate it and we will report it to the police.”

He added: “My presumption is that these leaflets have nothing to do with the mosques – it’s irresponsible to suggest that a quarter of mosques are involved with this.”

* Except that these leaflets are based on the Koran and the sunnah. So how can it be wrong? When will these pesky kuffars stop sniffing around and just submit..?

The chairman of the East London Mosque is Muhammad Abdul Bari, the current secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB). This Bangladeshi-born individual had invited Sheikh Abdur-Rahman al-Sudais (Sudeis, pictured), imam at the Grand Mosque in Mecca, to the inauguration of the East London Mosque in June 2004.

Sudais has said: “Read history and you will understand that the Jews of yesterday are the evil fathers of the Jews of today, who are evil offspring, infidels, distorters of words, calf-worshippers, prophet-murderers, prophecy-deniers… the scum of the human race ‘whom Allah cursed and turned into apes and pigs…’ These are the Jews, an ongoing continuum of deceit, obstinacy, licentiousness, evil, and corruption.” In another sermon, Sudais has called Jews “the scum of the human race, the rats of the world, the violators of pacts and agreements, the murderers of the prophets, and the offspring of apes and pigs.” Abdul Bari was questioned about why he had invited Sudais to his mosque, but denied that the imam was anti-Semitic.

We have been documenting the hypocrisy of the MCB and its luminaries, and the bigoted attitudes expressed by Saudi Wahhabists , since we started in August 2005. In June 2005 Iqbal Sacranie was knighted by Tony Blair, and at that time the MCB had a position of influence with the government. The group still claims to represent most Muslims and maintains that it is “moderate”.

Pipe Bomb Discovered at Palo Verde Nuclear Plant

A contract worker for a company hired to do work at the plant was arrested after a routine search of his vehicle at the employee entrance to the plant uncovered a suspicious device that turned out to be a pipe bomb.

This isn’t the first time that security has been an issue at Palo Verde.

The name of the contract worker has not been released.

Storhaug: victim of a full-scale media assault

As Europe’s Islamization proceeds apace, the gap widens between ordinary folks’ growing recognition of the outrages that are going on all around them and the movers and shakers’ cynical insistence on pretending that everything’s just hunky-dory.
Case in point: the responses to Covered. Uncovered., a new book on hijab. Its author, Hege Storhaug of Norway’s Human Rights Service, is this country’s answer to Ayaan Hirsi Ali – a gutsy advocate of freedom who doesn’t mince words about the illiberal conditions (especially for women and girls) in Europe’s Muslim communities. In Covered. Uncovered. she explains why the increasing visibility in these parts of hijab – a potent symbol of totalitarianism and sexual oppression – should not be taken lightly.
The result? A full-scale media assault – marked not by honest engagement with Storhaug’s arguments but by lies, more lies, and sheer personal abuse. Norway’s Dagbladet alone has published pieces by Amin Asskali of the Arabic Student Association, who accused the “woman-hating” Storhaug of “creating intolerance”; by Iffit Qureshi, who labeled her a “totalitarian…out to crush religious freedom”; and by Dagbladet opinion editor (and, ahem, former head of the Communist group Red Youth) Marte Michelet, whose litany of charges against Storhaug included “burkaphobia,” an “irrational fear of Islam,” “paranoid delusions,” and “hateful contempt” for Muslim girls.
“It is absolutely crucial,” said Michelet in a radio interview, “that Hege Storhaug’s campaign to undermine the Muslim religious minority’s rights in Norway be stopped.”

Yes: “Storhaug’s campaign…must be stopped.”

As some readers will recall, it was just this sort of rhetoric that led to the 2002 murder of Pim Fortuyn. Fortuyn, like Storhaug, believed passionately in individual rights – but because he dared to point out that many Dutch Muslims despised those rights, his country’s pols, profs, and pundits labeled him a racist and xenophobe (precisely the words, by the way, that Magnus E. Marsdal, a veteran of the Communist organizations Attac and Red Youth and of the Communist newspaper Klassekampen, hurled at Storhaug the other day on taxpayer-supported Norwegian public radio). In short, Fortuyn was demonized as a threat to the very liberty he was fighting to preserve. Among those who heard that this fascist must be stopped was a man named Volkert van der Graaf.

The rest is history.

Fortuyn’s murder should have put an end to the character assassinations of the advocates of freedom. Nope. Instead they’ve only grown more sophisticated. Nowadays when someone like Ayaan Hirsi Ali assails Islamic fundamentalism, the clever thing to do is call her a fundamentalist – because she’s so uncompromising in her insistence on liberty, get it? In this spirit, a hijab-clad Dagbladet staffer compared Storhaug’s call for Muslim women to “take the hijab off and embrace freedom” to “the rhetoric of the bearded fundamentalists” – thus equating an advocate for the victims of forced marriage and honor killing with the perpetrators of these barbarities.
Such, in 2007, is the cultural elite’s line on Islam. But who’s buying it? To scroll down on newspaper websites from the anti-Storhaug screeds by reporters, bureaucrats, professors, etc., to readers’ comments – which number in the thousands – is to turn from multicultural mendacity and vile ad hominem invective to commonsensical comebacks by sane citizens who prize liberty.
Responding, for example, to Qureshi’s insistence that we shouldn’t allow “the fear of the unknown [i.e., Islam] to control us,” one reader noted dryly that at this point Islam is hardly an “unknown.” Another answered Asskali’s description of Islam as woman-friendly: “Yes, we can see this…in practice in Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.” Yet another directly addressed Michelet and social geographer Kirsten Øvregaard (who, in assaulting Storhaug, had compared hijab favorably to Western girls’ “sexualized attire”): “What will you do on the day your daughters are forced to wear hijab? Why do you hate your own culture and embrace one that degrades and oppresses women? I just don’t get it.”
“Do you think we’re entirely brainwashed?” one indignant reader asked Asskali. But that’s precisely the goal of Asskali and his bien pensant accomplices: to convince the public that the problem here isn’t him, or his religion, but people like Hege Storhaug. As Dagbladet reader Hans-Christian Holm cogently put it, Norway’s media are engaged in “a sick tolerance competition, in which whoever tolerates the most intolerance wins, and the one who suggests that we perhaps should not tolerate so much intolerance is automatically branded as the most intolerant of all.” Storhaug’s own concern, as expressed in an email the other day, is that the relentless demonizing of persons like herself by those who are determined to suppress open liberal debate about these vital issues can only strengthen the hands of both right-wing nativists and Islamists.

And it’s not just happening in Norway, of course. The question is: how much longer can the tension continue to intensify between the plain, unvarnished truth and the outrageous flimflam churned out by a cowardly and conscienceless elite?

As most readers know by now, I have been involved in what has unfortunately become a very public brawl — some would probably say witch-hunt — with Charles Johnson of major American blog Little Green Footballs about the supposed “racism” of the Sweden Democrats and the Vlaams Belang. Many of these claims have already been countered, though LGF refuses to link to this.

I have announced my intention to take a break from commenting at LGF, where I have been active for several years, since it has become abundantly clear that neither Charles nor many of his readers have any interest whatsoever in having an actual debate, and certainly not about the real threats to freedom in Europe.

However, I’d like to continue the debate about “racism,” which now frequently means something along the lines of “I’m a Multiculturalist. I’ve just lost the debate because I have poor arguments in favor of my case. I want to shut you up, therefore you are a racist.”

He’s Saudi author and cleric, “Dr.” Muhammad Al-‘Arifi, who in a remarkable segment broadcast on Saudi and Kuwaiti television in September, counseled young Muslim men on how to treat their wives.
“Admonish them – once, twice, three times, four times, ten times,” he advised. “If this doesn’t help, refuse to share their beds.”
And if that doesn’t work?
“Beat them,” one of his three young advisees responded.
“That’s right,” Al-‘Arifi said.

Even his attempts at counseling restraint are bizarre and disturbing:

He goes on to calmly explain to the young men that hitting their future wives in the face is a no-no.
“Beating in the face is forbidden, even when it comes to animals,” he explained. “Even if you want your camel or donkey to start walking, you are not allowed to beat it in the face. If this is true for animals, it is all the more true when it comes to humans. So beatings should be light and not in the face.”
His final words of wisdom?

“Woman, it has gone too far. I can’t bear it anymore,” he tells the men to tell their wives. “If he beats her, the beatings must be light and must not make her face ugly.
“He must beat her where it will not leave marks. He should not beat her on the hand… He should beat her in some places where it will not cause any damage. He should not beat her like he would beat an animal or a child — slapping them right and left.
“Unfortunately, many husbands beat their wives only when they get mad, and when they start beating, it as if they are punching a wall – they beat with their hands, right and left, and sometimes use their feet. Brother, it is a human being you are beating. This is forbidden. He must not do this.”

We’re still a bit incredulous on this one, but a top level U.S. Department of Justice official is telling Big Head DC that Michael Musto’s rumor about Hillary Clinton fooling around with one of her top female aides Huma Abedin is based in reality!

“I am close enough to Hillary and Huma to tell you that this ‘rumor’ is true,” the official says. “It is well known inside her campaign that Hillary and Huma are an item.

“If you call Hillary’s residence in DC first thing in the morning, Huma answers the phone,” the official continues. “Same thing late at night and on the road. It’s a closely guarded secret that Hillary’s inner circle guards at all costs.”

Her family then relocated to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where she lived until returning to the States for college. She attended George Washington University. Her father, who died when she was 17, was an Islamic and Middle Eastern scholar of Indian decent. He founded his own institute devoted to Western-Eastern and interfaith understanding and reconciliation and published a journal focusing on Muslim minorities living in the diaspora. Her mother, a renowned professor in Saudi Arabia, is Pakistani.

Pakistan Polls and Growing Support for Islamism

* Pakistan exists because of Islam. It is not ‘Islamism’ or ‘fundamentalist Islam’ or ‘militant Islam’ or any other kind.

* Islam: that and nothing else, matters.

Two recent polls of Pakistanis show that between 60 and 76 percent of those polled seek the growth of Sharia throughout Pakistan, which is a key principle in political Islamism. The enforcement of Sharia throughout Pakistan is the stated goal of the Taliban in Pakistan.

The Islamist aspects of these poll findings are not news headlines because America lacks a policy and a coherent position on Islamism. However, these polls are not only informative to American taxpayers funding the Pakistan efforts in the “war on terror”, but also should be a red flag to American policy makers regarding its long-term relationship with Pakistan as well as the underlying ideological disconnects between U.S. policy and Pakistani public opinion.

In the most recent World Public Opinion poll of Pakistanis, it was found that 60 percent of Pakistanis believe that “Sharia should play a larger role in Pakistan law” than it does now. Per this recent World Public Opinion poll, only 26 percent say Sharia should play the same role (15 percent) or a smaller role (11 percent) and 15 percent do not answer.

Most of the news stories based on the recent World Public Opinion poll of Pakistanis have been focused on the limited support within Pakistan in pursuing Al Qaeda or in fighting “insurgents”, and these are legitimate tactical war concerns: (a) only 44 percent favor the Pakistani Army pursuing Al Qaeda, (b) only 48 percent would support the Pakistan Army acting against “Taliban insurgents who have crossed over from Afghanistan”, and (c) nearly 80 percent are against US pursuing Al Qaeda or Taliban in Pakistan. But the underlying problem in U.S. relationships with Pakistan are demonstrated by the polls indication of significant Pakistani support for Islamism.

Nor is this the only poll that shows such Pakistani sentiment. A month earlier, a poll of Pakistani opinion, taken for Terror Free Tomorrow, yielded similar results on Islamism and support for Jihadist groups. Once again, the Islamist results were not the headline story, but they were a significant finding. To the question regarding Pakistani positions on the need for “implementing strict Sharia law throughout Pakistan”, 76 percent of the Terror Free Tomorrow poll responders viewed this as “important”. This 76 percent was comprised of 41.2 percent that viewed this as “very important” and 34.8 percent that viewed this as “somewhat important”.

The Terror Free Tomorrow Pakistani poll also showed 46 percent of Pakistanis in that poll having a favorable view of Osama Bin Laden (and only 26 percent having an unfavorable view). Other results of the Terror Free Tomorrow Pakistan poll showed: (a) 74 percent opposing US pursuing Al Qaeda or Taliban in Pakistan, (b) 37 to 49 percent approving local Pakistani Jihadi groups, and (c) half of those responding approving of the Taliban.

The American long-term strategy with Pakistan must be clarified if 60 to 76 percent of its population seek to turn Pakistan into an Islamist, Sharia-based nation.

As the US spends $150 million per month in Pakistan ($11 billion since 2001), and as President Bush seeks another $60 billion for Pakistan’s tribal areas, the percent of “moderates” within Pakistan needs to be evaluated, in determining the relative likelihood of long-term success of anti-Jihad efforts in that nation.
