‘I’m hearing of anti-vaxxers using up ICU beds in London at vast expense to the taxpayer. Let them pay for their own stupidity & selfishness.’

Piers’s comments follow those of Queen’s Roger Taylor, who branded anti-vaxxers ‘pathetic’ as he supported the use of ‘vaccine passports’ for gigs.

Reports of gunshots as fire breaks out at Iran’s notorious Evin prison

Footage posted on social media shows flames and smoke billowing from the area around Tehran’s Evin jail, which is known for holding political prisoners.

A fire has broken out in Tehran’s Evin prison, where many of Iran’s political and dual-national detainees are held, and witnesses reported hearing gunfire.

State news agency IRNA on Saturday said eight people were injured in the unrest, which erupted after nearly a month of protests across Iran over
the death in detention of Mahsa Amin, a 22-year-old Kurdish Iranian woman.


The protests have posed one of the most serious challenges to the Islamic Republic since the 1979 revolution, with demonstrations spreading across the country and some people chanting for the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

They broke into his café in Alice Springs 40 times in 18 months. Then, within a week, Darren Clark’s two cars were stolen and his home was ransacked.

“I don’t hate these kids,” Clark said of the young Aboriginals who have laid siege to the dust-dry outpost immortalised by Nevil Shute’s 1950 novel A Town Like Alice.

“Seriously, they’ve broken into me 42 times now. I don’t hate the kids. I hate the system,” he said, echoing the view of many of the town’s 25,000 residents that Australia is failing impoverished Aboriginal youths in its increasingly lawless desert region.

Shute’s portrayal of Australia as a sun-kissed continent of opportunity helped to fuel the postwar surge of “Ten Pound Poms” taking up the country’s offer of assisted migration. More than 80,000 came, some to Alice Springs, the “bonza place” Shute described in the shadows of central Australia’s rust-red MacDonnell Ranges, 1,700 miles by road from Sydney.

Most have installed soulless steel roller doors to stem the nightly tide of window smashing and vehicle ram-raids — the police say commercial break-ins have risen by 63 per cent in the year to July.

This week the town ran out of its latest defences — unsightly one-tonne concrete bollards that are mushrooming across Alice Springs as businesspeople such as Craig Jervis, a former rugby player who runs the town’s largest private employer, strive to stop the raiders.

“I’ve spent probably over 200 grand at all our venues, just to try and improve security,” Jervis said of his efforts to protect the half dozen hotels, motels and the town’s casino he manages.

There is a “deafening” media silence on protests around the world protesting against the elites, according to Webster University Assistant Professor Ralph Schoellhammer. “They are significant protests – we’re talking about 30,000 people in The Netherlands,” Prof Schoellhammer said.

Prof Schoellhammer said the media and political campaign across the west against “disinformation” is part of a broader attempt to “undermine” organised protests against the agenda of the elites. “That the best way to prevent the pushback from large numbers of people is if they don’t know that anything is going on,” he said. “Think about the situation of the truckers in Canada when they pulled their bank accounts … so this is undermining the possibility of those people to organise. “It’s what interest groups, what these players do – they see there is something coming that could be a threat to their power so they try to do something to undermine it.”

Jacinda Ardern has boasted NZ will be the first in the world to introduce a livestock ‘burp tax’ while in Australia the Nationals have demanded a guarantee from Anthony Albanese that a similar tax would not be imposed on Aussie graziers.

The government is expected to announce this month that Australia will join an American led push to cut methane emissions by 30 per cent over the next decade.

The push comes as New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern infuriated farmers by announcing a plan to tax livestock burps.
