On Wednesday I joined Tucker Carlson to discuss the so-called storming of the Capitol.

There has been much talk these last two months about the disconnect between Fox and its audience over the events of November 3rd, but they are as nothing to the disconnect between Fox and its audience over the events of January 6th. The media may be sentimental about the Capitol, but in my unscientific survey of my North Country neighbors the people aren’t. Congress has an approval rating that falls somewhere between Isis and child pornographers. Pundits and politicians can wax mawkish about “the people’s house” but you’d be hard-pressed to find one in a thousand citizens who’s ever used those words in a non-contemptuous sense – and most of the other 999 would assume that the phrase referred to some long-term care facility Andrew Cuomo moves the old folks into for his Covid express checkout.

So I found yesterday’s coverage somewhat trying:

I choke on the sanctimonious drivel of the continuing coverage. The political class (represented by a Speaker who flies home to San Francisco on her own government plane) has been largely insulated from the pathologies they have loosed upon the land. For a few hours yesterday they weren’t.

During the early evening I found myself wondering why the pundits were so insistent on standing on the Capitol’s dignity. The obvious reason is that, for the most lavishly protected legislature in the world (okay, make that “legislature”), it was a total security fiasco – culminating in the murder of an unarmed woman by a (to put it mildly) totally incompetent copper firing into a crowd (which an American couldn’t do in, say, Kandahar). The rubbish about the “desecration” of the “sacred” “majesty”, etc, etc, peddled by Democrats and Republicans alike is designed to evade the vile reality of that grotesque act.

Your Ballot Is Now Zimbabwean Money

Hundreds of thousands of citizens whose media lie to them, who fear that their votes were thrown away, or canceled out by fake votes, whose own party has largely abandoned them, peacefully marched in Washington. What were they hoping would happen? Their faces were mostly bright and full of faith. Did they really think Mike Pence, who sold out religious liberty for Christians in Indiana at the first hint of LGBT outrage, would do his constitutional duty?

When civility leads to death, revolting is the only logical reaction.

GOP is sitting back and watching them purge conservatives! They have been complicit for years. This is absolutely terrifying, this is Joe Biden‘s New America.

So, who’s going to fix this? The courts? Congress? Who? Big Tech? They’re one and the same.

• Google bans free speech platform Parler.
• This is Big Tech fascism. Ban people and then ban alternative social media.

Mark the date. 8th January 2021 is when 1984 happened.

Just think about this and let it sink in, Rouhani, the President of Iran is on Twitter and once posted that he wanted to see Aayan Hirsi Ali hung from her tits in the main square of Tehran, yet the President of the United States is banned.

The alternative social media site is being accused of ‘fostering calls to violence’ in wake of Capitol attack

Social media site Parler—endorsed by several high profile conservatives as an alternative to Twitter—was removed from Google’s Play Store on Friday, after being threatened with removal from Apple’s app store over allegations that the ‘free speech” platform has not done enough to crack down on violent rhetoric following the attack on the U.S. Capitol building.

On Friday, Buzzfeed News obtained an email from Apple to Parler executives threatening to take down the site from its iPhone app store unless the social media network implements a stringent speech moderation policy within 24 hours.

“We have received numerous complaints regarding objectionable content in your Parler service, accusations that the Parler app was used to plan, coordinate, and facilitate the illegal activities in Washington D.C. on January 6, 2021 that led (among other things) to loss of life, numerous injuries, and the destruction of property,” Apple wrote to Parler. “The app also appears to continue to be used to plan and facilitate yet further illegal and dangerous activities.”

Within hours, Google Play Store removed the app from its store entirely, saying in a statement to Politico:

“In order to protect user safety on Google Play, our longstanding policies require that apps displaying user-generated content have moderation policies and enforcement that removes egregious content like posts that incite violence. All developers agree to these terms and we have reminded Parler of this clear policy in recent months. We’re aware of continued posting on Parler app that seeks to incite ongoing violence in the U.S. We recognize that there can be reasonable debate about content policies and that it can be difficult for apps to immediately remove all violative content, but for us to distribute an app through Google Play, we do require that apps implement robust moderation for egregious content.”

Pro-Trump crowds march on statehouses across the country

While a pro-Trump mob forced entry into the US Capitol building in Washington, DC, other smaller crowds gathered at statehouses across the country, including those in Kansas, Ohio, Minnesota and California. In Atlanta, senior staffers at Georgia Capitol were evacuated as a precautionary measure as militia members gathered outside the building. Most of the situations were dispersed by late on Wednesday afternoon.
