NEW YORK — A New Jersey-born Muslim cleric with links to a suspected Al Qaeda operative who surfaced at a college not far from the cleric’s Peoria, Ill., mosque the day before the Sept. 11 attacks has found a new home.

The imam now is spewing his message of hate to a growing group of followers at a mosque in Birmingham, England.

His target: the United States, the United Kingdom, Christians and Jews.

Abu Usamah at-Thahabi, who preached at the Islamic Center of Peoria in 2001, is the subject of a British news documentary that revealed Monday how he regularly exhorts worshipers at the Green Lane Masjid, or mosque, in Birmingham to hate Westerners, whom he calls “pathological liars” and “kuffar,” a derogatory term for non-Muslims.

For now, he is a useful idiot,  as good as any dimwitted suicide bomber. At worst he is a dangerous ideologue who incites and causes murder, hatred and genocidal slaughter according to the Koran. The recently released Gitmo inmate Murat Kurnatz claims ‘torture’- by German Anti-Terror units.

On 24 August 2006, the 24 year old Murat Kurnaz was released from the base. He claimed to have been exposed to water torture, sexual harassment and ‘desecration of Islam’ while staying on Guantanamo.

A German court is currently investigating his claims.

Needless to mention that the usual suspects from Amnesia Intentional, the Greens and the commies are backing him for whatever it takes. The SPIEGEL, a popular left wing German magazine (low on facts, high on innuendo) allows a highly suspect Turkish agent, Cem Özdemir, to present Kurnatz as ‘totally innocent’-, in typical Muhammedan fashion Ozdemir presents a heart wrenching, whiny perspective on Murat’s ordeal.

Ozdemir is a member of the European Parliament, heaven knows how he got there. Has anyone ever asked questions how and why Turkish Muhammedan agents get to hold positions in the EU parliament?)

Murat Kurnaz was detained in the United States detention camp at Guantánamo, Cuba, for almost five years and released three weeks ago. Cem Özdemir, a member of the European Parliament, visited Kurnaz at his home in Bremen and reports back about a German man of Turkish origin who appears to be anything but a fanatic.

A what? ‘German man of Turkish origin?’ Kurnaz is a Turk with an expired German residence permit. Why don’t you tell the truth, Oezdemir?

How does one talk about the emotions stirred up by a meeting with someone who has spent five years of his life in a detention camp, living in scandalous and ignoble conditions? How does one express one’s sense of what that person must have experienced? The man in question is now 24 years old. During a period of almost five years — a period during which I married, became a father and was elected into the European Parliament — this man was effectively stripped of his rights and had to live in complete isolation, in conditions that have driven other detainees to commit suicide.

Murat Kurnaz once had a “normal” life too. He wanted to start a family in Germany, along with his Turkish fiancé. He had completed his apprenticeship as a shipbuilder. He played guitar in his free time and liked sports — like many other people his age. Then he travelled to Pakistan in the fall of 2001, apparently in order to devote time to his religious faith and expand his knowledge about Islam by visiting religious schools. He was “in the wrong place at the wrong time,” is what insiders in Washington say — (ozdemir doesn’t tell us who these ‘insiders’ are) sometimes cynically, sometimes laconically. They know Kurnaz was innocent when he was apprehended and detained. (Really? Who said that?)The United States — and Germany — discovered quite quickly that the accusations against Kurnaz were groundless. And yet he was not released.

But he doesn’t correspond with my idea of a fanatic or even a martyr: He doesn’t seem like someone who poses a threat either to me as a person with a Muslim background or to my Jewish and Christian friends.

Must a 24-year-old who speaks in the calm and collected manner of a religious elder and sports a mighty beard be immediately perceived as a religious fundamentalist or something even worse than that?

Perhaps Kurnaz’s search for self-fulfilment has simply led him to be fascinated by the mystical elements of Islam. I know people who read Hermann Hesse’s novel “Siddhartha” and then began searching for the truth in India, the country whose culture Hesse’s novel portrays.

Despite condemnation of the Undercover Mosque investigation by mainstream Muslim groups such as the Muslim Council of Britain, Jewish MPs have questioned how religious leaders could not know what was happening on their premises.

West Midlands Police and the Metropolitan Police are investigating the content of the programme, which was broadcast on Monday.

Both mosques are seen as representative of mainstream Islam, but they have refused to take responsibility for the lectures.

Nobody is in charge and nobody is responsible, you see, its all the will of Allah…

More Africans Risking Deadly Passage to Europe

More refugees from Africa successfully made their way to Spain’s Canary Islands in August than during all of 2005. Thousands are believed to have died making the journey and Europe is expanding its efforts to combat illegal immigration.

Europeans can fly to the Canary Islands or southern Italy on package holiday deals for as little as a fewl hundred euros. Human traffickers also make similar deals available to illegal African immigrants seeking a better life in the European Union. For €600 ($768), a smuggler will take you to the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla along Morocco’s coast. And for €700, they’ll take you as far as Spain’s Canary Islands. Those wanting to go to highly desirable Italy can make the journey from West Africa through Libya and then across the Mediterranean for a steep €2,000. Unfortunately, many never arrive at their destination after drowning en route during the dangerous trip.
Earlier this month, 50 people died when their boat failed to complete the journey across the Mediterranean to the Italian island of Lampedusa. In Spain, 490 deaths have been confirmed since the beginning of the year — a figure that only represents bodies that have been pulled out of the water. The Red Cross and its Muslim sister organization, the Red Crescent, estimate there have been as many as 3,000 deaths.

Still, a startling number of immigrants have made it to Europe this year — in Lampedusa alone, 10,414 refugees from Africa have landed during the first six months of 2006. More than 18,000 refugees — mostly Africans not carrying any documents — have arrived at the Canary Islands, three times the number for the previous year. Of that number, 5,000 arrived in August alone according to the regional government. The Canary Islands are a favored destination for the migrants because they are located only 112 kilometers from the African coastline.

SYDNEY (AFP) – What do you get when you cross Australian beach culture with a desire to remain clothed in a way acceptable to Muslim women? If you’re designer Aheda Zanetti, you get what she says is the world’s first two-piece Islamic swimsuit, the burkini.

While other Islamic swimsuits exist, Zanetti says her light-weight, head-to-ankle costumes are the first to be streamlined down to a two-piece suit incorporating a head covering. With Australian beaches full of girls in skimpy bikinis and revealing one-pieces, there was a “hole in the market that needed to be filled” for more modest beachwear, she said.

“A lot of girls were missing out, a lot of women were missing out, on a lot of sporting activities, including swimming,” Zanetti told AFP from the clutter of her southwestern Sydney shopfront. “There was nothing really suitable for them to wear if they wanted to participate in sport. And if they did participate in sports with a veil, or whatever they wanted to wear, there really wasn’t something suitable. The fabric was not right, the construction wasn’t right.”

Muslims fear hate attacks as trial of failed suicide bombers gets under way

LONDON: The Muslims living in Britain, particularly from Pakistan, fear for revival of hate crimes, as an aggressive British media starts reporting of a high profile trial of six Muslim suicide bombers, who had plotted to kill hundreds of commuters by exploding bombs after the 7/7 blasts.

The Muslims here fear that the wide publicity of the “horrible inside details” of the case might revive attacks on the Muslim as it happened after the 7/7 bombings in 2005. Mostly the Pakistanis become the targets of hate attacks, whenever, a terrorist plot is unfolded and “intriguing links of the terrorist are traced to Pakistan”.

Details of a foiled plot were divulged for first time, when the trial of the six accused began the other day. These bombers had vowed in a London mosque to bomb the innocent Londoners but did not detonate the bombs due to luck of passengers.

LONDON (AFP) – Dramatic CCTV footage of the moment an alleged would-be suicide bomber tried to blow up a London Underground train was shown at the trial of six Muslims accused of a failed terrorist attack.

Ramzi Mohammed, 25, was shown boarding the train and turning his back to a mother with a child in a pushchair before allegedly trying, and failing, to detonate a bomb in his rucksack.

Prosecutors say that Mohammed left a suicide note in which he begged Allah to admit him “to the highest station in paradise” and told his son: “We shall meet again in paradise, God willing.”

He is one of six men being tried at Britain’s highest-security court, accused of hatching an extremist plot to carry out a string of suicide bombings on the capital’s public transport system.

Before and after Sept. 11, 2001, the most prominent television anchor, journalist and authority on Islam and the Islamic world was CNN’s chief international correspondent Christiane Amanpour, who was born and grew up in an Islamic country, Iran.

Thus, as a native of an Islamic country and assisted by Moslem professors of Islam and Islamic clerics she hosted, she explained that the very word “Islam” means “Peace” in Arabic, and this is what the Koran is all about.

Hence the 19 terrorists of Sept. 11, 2001 – or rather bin Laden and al-Qaeda, who allegedly control these terrorists as their “operatives” – were the enemies of Islam – Peace – which distorted its meaning into its opposite: The worst kind of aggressive war – terrorist attacks to kill innocent civilians.

That the word “Islam” means “Peace” was reiterated in unison by all American (and one Canadian) Moslem professors of Islam and Islamic clerics in the American mainstream media, following Sept. 11, 2001.

When Soviet Russia was viewed as a military threat, nearly all “sovietologists” were born Americans, since who could be sure that a former Soviet Russian was not a KGB agent? On the other hand, as of Sept. 11, 2001, nearly all “islamists” were born Moslems, since for an American it is far more difficult to learn Arabic than Russian, a foreign yet Indo-European language, just like French or German.

Naturally, after Sept. 11, 2001, the Moslems in the United States felt defensive and began to assure the Americans that the word “Islam” means “Peace.” The result was the concerted Islamic propaganda of Islam as Peace versus its enemies like bin Laden.

Thus, when a Washington Times columnist quoted on Oct. 3, 2001, historian Paul Johnson to the effect that the “word ‘Islam’ does not mean ‘peace,’ but ‘submission,'” the “Moslem scholar” Saleh A. Mubarak declared in a letter published in the newspaper three days later, “I don’t know historian Paul Johnson …” and the moral: “Don’t ask a historian, ask a Moslem scholar.”
