The 20-year-old Muslim man from Werribee in Melbourne’s western suburbs was arrested at 3pm yesterday after a secret operation by the police Special Operations Group.

He is still being interviewed, but police expect to charge him shortly with engaging in an act in preparation for a terrorist attack and collecting documents to facilitate an attack.

He allegedly displayed sympathies for the Islamic State terrorist organisation.

Africans are being sold at Libyan slave markets. Thanks, Hillary Clinton.

Black people are being sold as slaves in Libya (thanks, Hillary), but it’s being done by Arab Muslims. A bit awkward for the progressive “anti-racist” crowd. No wonder they’re keeping quiet.

Hundreds of African refugees and migrants passing through Libya are being bought and sold in modern-day slave markets before being held for ransom or used as forced labour or for sexual exploitation, survivors have told the UN’s migration agency. 

Black Africans are being sold in open-air slave markets,  and it’s Hillary Clinton’s fault. But you won’t hear much about that from the news media or the foreign-policy pundits, so let me explain.

Footage from Libya, released recently by CNN, showed young men from sub-Saharan Africa being auctioned off as farm workers in slave markets.

And how did we get to this point? As the BBC reported back in May, “Libya has been beset by chaos since NATO-backed forces overthrew long-serving ruler Col. Moammar Gadhafi in October 2011.”

And who was behind that overthrow? None other than then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Many Western analysts have an enormous amount of hope already invested in Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, thinking that he is going to bring about genuine Islamic reform. It remains to be seen, however, as he vows here to fight against the tarnishing of the reputation of his beloved religion, whether he means that he will fight against non-Muslims who dare to notice how Islamic jihadists use the texts and teachings of Islam to justify violence and terrorism, or whether he will really take the fight to the jihad terrorists themselves. We shall see.

Six people were injured, four seriously, Sunday morning after a car was reportedly deliberately driven into a crowd of people leaving a nightclub in the German town of Cuxhaven.

A police statement from the local force said officers were alerted to the incident at 0730 Sunday morning after a 29-year old man drove his car at speed into a group of people, leaving six people hospitalised — and four with serious injuries. Police said the incident appeared to have been deliberate, and that the driver was under the influence of alcohol, but there was not yet any clear indication that the incident is related to terrorism.

After hitting into the people outside the nightclub, the driver attempted to flee the scene but crashed his car into a stone block set in the pavement.

No details on the driver, who remains in custody, or victims have been released.

ROME — Earlier this month in the Vatican, Pope Francis received a special plea from Cardinal Charles Maung Bo of Myanmar, the overwhelmingly Buddhist nation where the pope will make his 21st, and perhaps most politically perilous, foreign trip beginning Monday.

Don’t say “Rohingya.”

“It is a very contested term, and the military and government and the public would not like him to express it,” Cardinal Bo said in an interview after the meeting during which he himself avoided using the word, referring only to Muslims who are suffering in Rakhine State.
