Como, Italy…Boatloads of illegal immigrants from sub-Saharan Africa and Arab North Africa land in Italy’s southern provinces, and then proceed northwards to the wealthier regions Lazio (Rome), Tuscany (Florence), Veneto (Venice), Piedmont (Turin) and Lombardy (Milan and Como).

These illegal immigrants can be seen in all the tourist spots throughout Italy and even in smaller towns such as Como, near the Swiss border. Their presence, while annoying to tourists and natives, is becoming increasingly menacing with their involvement in a new wave of crimes previously unseen in Italy.

The annoyance lies in the audacity with which these Third World infiltrators push their wares in people’s faces, often in a provocative way. The police look on passively, no doubt instructed not to interfere.

Inquiring into this untenable situation (immigrants constitute now 6.2% of Italy’s 58 million population), which may eventually prove to be detrimental to tourism and national identity, native Italians shrug their shoulders in a gesture of resignation. When prodded, most express their frustration by saying, “Our government promises a lot with words but does nothing in actuality.”

Italians, known for their love of life and tolerance towards others are getting fed up, albeit not totally focused on action. The October 30th, 2007, murder of an Italian woman by a Romanian immigrant brought the issue of immigrants’ threat to public security into sharper focus. Former center-right Prime Minister and opposition leader Silvio Berlusconi called on the Prodi government expel the Romanian immigrants (a large number of them are Gypsies/Roma people). Rome’s center-left Mayor Walter Veltroni was in a panic, demanding the central government act immediately.

On November 6th, 2007, the Prodi government came up with a decree, giving officers of the Interior Ministry the power to expel immigrant-citizens of EU countries. The decree does not however relate to the illegal immigrants that in proportion to their numbers commit far more crimes. It remains to be seen whether the new decree will be enforced?

In scores of impromptu interviews with local citizens during a recent visit to Italy, it was apparent that political-correctness and fear of being labeled “racist” have muted citizen’s complaints. Italians and other Europeans have remained relatively silent in the face of the ever-rising number of illegal immigrants (many of them Muslims from North Africa and Albania) who are in breach of Italian law (and that of other European Union member states as well). The only logical explanation for their inaction and seeming resignation to the marked changes taking place around them may just be a sense of guilt.

Most Italians and other European Union member states are beginning to recognize that their state’s fundamental character is threatened by the apparently unstoppable influx of uneducated and unskilled immigrants-legal and illegal. Compassion towards these illegal immigrants is commendable; after all, they simply seek to better their lives and that of their families. But then, one must consider the implication for countries such as Italy (and for that matter the other EU states) if the flow of illegal immigrants continues.

There is no telling how many of Africa’s 680 million might turn up in Europe, overwhelming the continent economically, politically, and culturally. Millions of Pakistanis (population 165 million) and Bangladeshis (150 million) live in abject poverty and would gladly leave their countries as well for either to Europe or the U.S. if the opportunity presented itself (including those from an ever growing list of other poor countries bursting with humanity).

Millions of Egyptian, Yemeni, Syrians, and Iraqi Arabs, would like to leave their poor and repressive authoritarian states and come to Europe, some for reasons that go beyond economics – they seek to extend the domain of Islam. In Britain, Germany, Holland, and France Islam has already been fully accommodated – out of both guilt and intimidation, and in Italy, Islam will soon enjoy equality with (Catholic) Christianity.

White-European guilt and political-correctness is accommodating and appeasing the illegal immigrants and their home countries in spite of the prominent role the illegal immigrants play in criminal activities. In Venice, the world famous Palazzo Ducale (Doges Palace) is showing an exhibit on “Venice and Islam.” Bookstores throughout Italy and even in small towns like Como are replete with books about Islam.

The bookstores visited in Italy have an abundance of books about the Holocaust, but none about modern Israel- the Jewish State that rose from the ashes of the Holocaust. And while there are tour books on Egypt, Libya, Morocco and Syria, there are none to be found about Israel. At one particular store in Como, the store clerk stridently responded to the question of why there were no tour books on Israel by saying “Israel is not a tourist destination!”

Europe, during the past sixty years has attempted to atone for the sins of the Holocaust and two thousand years of persecution and anti-Semitism by paying reverence to its dead Jews. It is the living Jews, however, in its midst that the Europeans ignore, leaving them, at times, to the mercy of Muslim youth mobs who perpetrate hate crimes against those visible Jews, wearing a skullcap, or sporting a long beard. Throughout Europe and in Italy as well, few Jews dare exhibit their religious identity for fear of a violence attack. Religious Jews wear baseball caps instead of skullcaps.

In an attempt to assuage its guilt Europe is appeasing Arab illegal immigrants and their repressive governments. In spite of widespread European investment in the infrastructure of Arab and African countries and serious attempts to create jobs there, these governments continue to eagerly send masses of their people to Europe.

It is however the Jews and not the Muslims, to whom the European should be expressing their guilt and remorse. European colonialism, no doubt, was exploitive (in Italy’s case it was Libya and Ethiopia) but the Ottoman’s Muslim colonial rule over the Christian population of the Balkans was just as exploitive without the attached guilt. On the other hand, Europeans committed the Holocaust, the greatest crime in history, on European soil, against native European Jews. Europe persecuted and exploited the Jews for more than a millennium – the same Jews that gave Europe its genius and culture. Europe placed Jews, not Arabs or Africans in ghettos, and it is the same old Europe that perpetrated pogroms on law-abiding Jews.

The anti-Semitism of the past is gone – at least on the surface – but when visiting Jewish quarters and synagogues throughout Italy one can’t help but notice the preponderance of police protection. While Jews in today’s Europe are full citizens with protection of the law, oftentimes the crimes against them are ignored by the press and diminished by public officials. And while individual Jews feel well treated by their Italian compatriots, the collective Jew – Israel, is vilified in the European media, albeit, less so in Italy.

Israel’s role as a frontline in the war against radical Islam is of little interest to post-Christian Europe. Europe has sacrificed its soul, and all that remains of its national and religious pride on the altar of greed and profit, and in the pursuit of hedonism. Italians readily admit this.

While European Jews have historically resorted to reason when arguing their case, Muslims have preferred violence and intimidation. Europe’s post-war commitment to non-violence has become an absurdity in light of Muslim (immigrant) intimidation and the European response in condemning Israel’s acts of self-defense.

Europe’s misplaced guilt is exacting a high price, which Italians and other European natives are already paying. Europe is too precious to lose, and one can only hope that the people of Europe will find their voice and elect governments that will save the continent.

Radical Muslim cleric says he stopped UK violence

LONDON (Reuters) – Two years ago, Omar Bakri Mohammed was banned from Britain after the government ruled that the so-called “preacher of hate” was not conducive to the public good in the aftermath of the July 2005 London bombings.

Bakri, who gained notoriety when he referred to the hijackers behind the September 11, 2001 attacks as the “magnificent 19”, had become the embodiment of the radical clerics the government believed were poisoning the minds of young Muslims.

Even from his new home in Lebanon, the Syrian-born Bakri’s influence is still regularly mentioned in newspaper articles and prosecutors have described him as a leading influence for many convicted of terrorism offences in recent British trials.

Outlining new counter-terrorism measures on Wednesday, Prime Minister Gordon Brown made “tackling radicalisation and those promoting hate” a major focus point.

However the bearded and bespectacled Bakri, a 49-year-old father of six, says his absence, rather than helping Britain to stop the radicalisation of Muslims, has made matters worse.

He claims the British government and security services had failed to realise that preachers from groups such as his banned al-Muhajiroun (AM) and al-Gurabaa organisations had held back disaffected young Muslims from violence.

“I was able to control the youth for years after the Bosnia war, Chechnya war, Kashmir war, Iraqi war, Afghan war — I was always able to channel the anger in demonstration, in talks, in confrontation,” he told Reuters by telephone.

“The government should benefit from my services there. They should benefit that somebody is able to control the youth not by saying to them ‘love the queen, long live the queen’. Continued…

Aden Hashi Farah Ayro (alt. “Eyrow), the leader of the African Courts Union’s Hizbal Shabaab youth movement today threatened to kill any and all African Union troops sent to Somalia as peacekeepers. He specifically threatened Ugandan and Burundi troops which are preparing to enter Somalia.

He also warned that Somalian jihadis would someday reach the capital of Ethiopia and behead women and children there.

Just so this won’t get lost down the memory hole: many in the State Department, prior to the Ethiopian invasion of Somalia, were urging the U.S. to recognize the African Taliban as the legitimate government there in an effort to reach out to ‘moderates’ and to ‘bring stability’ to the war-torn nation even as supporters of the African Courts Union were holding up signs praising bin Laden.

A Somali Islamist commander, thought to be al Qaeda’s man in Mogadishu, has ordered his fighters to attack African Union (AU) peacekeepers in rare taped comments intended to bolster an anti-government insurgency.
Somali Web sites that posted the 20-minute recording named the speaker as Aden Hashi Ayro, who has been in hiding since his sharia courts group was ousted from its southern strongholds by joint Somali-Ethiopian forces in January….

Ayro, who security and intelligence sources say trained in assassination and insurgency tactics in Afghanistan in the late 1990s, vowed to take the fighting to the Ethiopian capital.

“They beheaded our children, women and elderly people in Mogadishu and we must behead theirs in Addis Ababa,” he said…..

He prefaced his message with a greeting to all Mujahadeen groups and al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

Cambridge lefties have at last begun to show their true colors – and they sure as hell aren’t red, white and blue.

You know all that rhetoric about hating the war in Iraq, but supporting the U.S. troops who are there? Well, fuhgedaboudit!

A troop of Boy Scouts in Cambridge set up donation boxes at 33 polling stations in that city on election day last week. Their mission was to collect amenities for troops serving overseas – those little items like snacks and lip balm that make life a little easier. The Scouts had spent considerable time and money to publicize the event, distributing fliers in city buildings, libraries and local businesses well ahead of time, according to their troop leader, Jamisean Patterson, writing in this week’s Cambridge Chronicle.

Most of the boxes were set up in the lobbies of those polling stations with the permission of the Cambridge Election Commission, Patterson wrote.

Then one resident in one precinct complained about the implied “pro war” message, according to Marsha Weinerman, executive director of the Election Commission. The city’s law department was consulted and “it was determined that the best course of action would be to remove the boxes,” Weinerman told the Chronicle.

Takes your breath away, no?

It gets worse. At the same polling station that was the scene of the complaint, on the same bulletin board where the Scouts had posted their flier were about 75 other fliers. According to Patterson they included those “promoting Get Out of Iraq, Campus Green, College Democrats of America.” The only one removed belonged to “those evil Boy Scouts collecting things for the troops,” he added.

The Cambridge cave-in was shameful but instructive. There are in this world those so blinded by hatred of this war and of George Bush that they would punish those who have been called to fight it – denying them, what, granola bars? That is mindless and it’s stupid. That public officials caved in to such mindlessness – yes, even in a city like Cambridge – is a public disgrace.

A British court has given the go-ahead for one of Britain’s most notorious Islamic radicals to be extradited to the United States, where he faces terror-related charges that could land him in prison for the rest of his life.

Abu Hamza al-Masri was arrested in Britain on a U.S. extradition warrant in 2004, but was first put on trial for offenses there.

He currently is serving a seven-year prison term in Britain for inciting racial hatred and murder and for possessing a training manual “of use to terrorists.”

If convicted in the U.S., however, the Egyptian-born cleric could face a 99-year sentence.

At the City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court Thursday, a judge dismissed a defense argument that extraditing Abu Hamza would violate his human rights because he would likely be held in a supermax prison and not have visits from his family.

“The gravity and seriousness of these allegations is such that the public interest in honoring the extradition treaty outweighs the inevitable interference with the defendant’s family life,” Judge Timothy Workman was quoted as saying.

The case has now been sent to Britain’s Home Secretary for a final decision.

According to a U.S. indictment unsealed in May 2004, Abu Hamza stands accused of funding al-Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan, trying to set up a terrorist training camp in southern Oregon, and helping a group that kidnapped 16 Western tourists — including Americans — in Yemen in late December 1998. Three Britons and an Australian died in the hostage crisis.

More information about the Oregon allegation emerged last September, when the Department of Justice announced the extradition of another terrorist suspect, Oussama Abdullah Kassir, who had been in custody in the Czech Republic.

In its statement, the DoJ said Kassir had been involved with Abu Hamza in planning in 1999 to set up a base in Bly, Ore., “to provide a place where Muslims could receive various types of training, including military-style jihad training, in preparation for a community of Muslims to move to Afghanistan.”

“Once in Afghanistan, the men in the community would have gained enough familiarity with weapons at the Bly jihad training camp to fight jihad or to continue with additional jihad training in Afghanistan,” it said.

Kassir, a Lebanese national, faces charges in the Southern District of New York.

Another man linked to the Oregon plot was James Ujamma, an American-born Muslim convert indicted in 2002 and sentenced to two years’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to conspiring to aid the Taliban government in Afghanistan in the late 1990s.

Early this year Ujamma was arrested in Belize, charged with violating the terms of his supervised release by leaving the U.S. without permission, and sentenced to two years in a federal prison. He will likely be a key witness against Abu Hamza and Kassir.

Abu Hamza was formerly the imam at a North London mosque linked to confessed al-Qaeda conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui and Richard Reid, who used explosives hidden in his shoe to try to blow up a U.S.-bound flight.

He also had close links to an Islamist terrorist group in Yemen, the Aden-Abyan Army, which was centrally linked to the 1998 hostage-taking incident.

Just days before the Westerners were kidnapped, Yemeni police had arrested members of the Aden-Abyan Army on suspicion of planning Christmas Day bombings against U.S. and British targets in Yemen.

The hostage-taking was an attempt to force authorities to release the arrested men, and the kidnappers were allegedly in touch with Abu Hamza by satellite phone during the crisis.

Abu Hamza’s son and stepson were among Aden-Abyan members later imprisoned for their role in the bombing plot. The group’s leader, Abu al-Hassan al-Mehdar, was executed by Yemeni authorities in October 1999.

When, a year later, terrorists bombed the U.S. Navy destroyer USS Cole in Yemen’s Aden port, killing 17 sailors, Abu Hamza claimed responsibility for the attack on behalf of the Aden-Abyan Army. He said in an interview at the time that the bombing was to mark the Palestinian intifada, and the anniversary of Mehdar’s execution.

The U.S. government’s Abu Hamza indictment does not refer to the USS Cole bombing.

The Philippines government says it has reached an agreement with the country’s main Islamic separatist group on boundaries for a Muslim homeland.

Government negotiator Rodolfo Garcia said “demarcation” was agreed after two days of talks in Malaysia with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

Officials say the deal in Kuala Lumpur could pave the way for a final peace deal between the two sides next year.

MILF has been fighting for decades over land in the southern Mindanao region.

Negotiators are hopeful that a permanent peace agreement can be sealed by the middle of next year.

Just how oppressive must a government become before we can justifiably say that it has turned a country into a police-state? Midnight knocks on the door? Security squads in black uniforms? Speaking today, Mokhtar Tabet, 30 – who has been given a home, food and free travel around London – claims his local council has breached his human rights by moving him to a place he does not like.

He was refused asylum in 2004 and is set to be deported.

He said: “The council evicted me from my home in September and moved me to Streatham, which I don’t like.

“The new place is small, and the kitchen closes at 9pm, so I can’t have anything to eat late at night. They have taken away my human rights.”

Nearly all Muslim Londoners surveyed – 96 per cent – think that everyone should respect the law in Britain, virtually the same as the number of Londoners as a whole at 97 per cent.

* ‘Respecting the law’ of course means sharia law, what did you think?

The overwhelming majority of Muslims polled, 89 per cent, believe that everyone in Britain should be free to live their lives as they want so long as they do not prevent others from doing the same – again virtually identical to Londoners as a whole, where the figure was 88 per cent.

The overwhelming majority of Muslim respondents – 94 per cent – also believe that everyone in Britain should have equal opportunities, as does 92 per cent of Londoners as a whole.

Almost nine out of ten Londoners and Muslims, 90 per cent and 88 per cent respectively, agree that people should have a voice in politics through democracy, which is being realised as Muslims are having an increased involvement in the political process in London.

Watching Ken Livingstone at the mayoral press conference yesterday was like watching an old bare-knuckle fighter. Horrible, but you had to admire his nerve.

He spun away from danger so adroitly you could blink and miss the trickiness of the foot movements. He landed low blows and then turned to the referee as if butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth.

Ostensibly he was releasing a report by “leading academics and experts on Islam” on Islamophobia. He had a poll which showed that Muslim Londoners weren’t very different from other Londoners, which was fair enough, and descriptions of the prejudices Muslim journalists face. These revelations were merely the build-up to the shocking news that “leading academics and experts” had found that 91 per cent of articles on Islam “were negative in their associations”.

Ninety-one per cent! Imagine. I knew there was bigotry, but not the “torrent of Islamophobic demonisation” Livingstone described. Where could we get further particulars?

Still, I’m glad to see Dr Bari is worried about minds being poisoned. Maybe he is familiar with the poetry of Samina Malik, a 23-year-old self-styled ‘lyrical terrorist’. Say what you like about Pam Ayres, she never wrote a poem called How To Behead: ‘It’s not as messy or as hard as some may think/It’s all about the flow of the wrist. No doubt that the punk will twitch and scream/But ignore the donkey’s ass/And continue to slice back and forth.’ Miss Malik shared her charming light verse with other like-minded people on the internet, before being arrested and convicted a few days ago under anti-terrorist laws.

The news that Samina Malik held down a job at WHSmith at Heathrow on the air-side, for crying out loud, proves just how insanely tolerant Britain is, despite the intolerable provocation of men like Dr Muhammad Abdul Bari.

The ‘war on terror’ has changed our way of life, but has it made us more secure? If not, why not?

The prime minister’s statement on Wednesday that terrorists could strike anywhere, at any time, hardly provides any useful information, let alone induces confidence in the government or security agencies actually knowing what threat they claim to be facing or capable of successfully overcoming.

It was similar to the recent MI5 report which left one wondering what was expected of ordinary citizens if not to go into a state of frenzy, panic, fear and suspicion.

More than six years after the declaration of the revamped and replenished “war on terror”, this leads us to a very important question: has the world become any safer or more secure over those years? And if not, why not?

To put this in basic terms, the balance sheet does not look good. Actually, it looks extremely bad on all fronts. Even “our way of life” which was Tony Blair’s favourite chorus line, seems to have changed for ever.

Saudi punishes gang rape victim with 200 lashes

A court in the ultra-conservative kingdom of Saudi Arabia is punishing a female victim of gang rape with 200 lashes and six months in jail, a newspaper reported on Thursday.
The 19-year-old woman — whose six armed attackers have been sentenced to jail terms — was initially ordered to undergo 90 lashes for “being in the car of an unrelated male at the time of the rape,” the Arab News reported.

But in a new verdict issued after Saudi Arabia’s Higher Judicial Council ordered a retrial, the court in the eastern town of Al-Qatif more than doubled the number of lashes to 200.

A court source told the English-language Arab News that the judges had decided to punish the woman further for “her attempt to aggravate and influence the judiciary through the media.”

University’s banning of Muslim comedy attacked

MUSLIM comedians have been banned from performing at a Scottish university in a move described as “ridiculous and undemocratic”.

Glasgow Caledonian University backed out of hosting Allah Made Me Funny: The Official Muslim Comedy Tour this month after complaints from its Muslim Students’ Association.

Oceanic, which organised the tour, was told by the university that the group felt the act was derogatory to their religion.

Preacher Moss and Azhar Usman will still perform the show at Dundee University on 27 November with the full backing of its Islamic Society. Yesterday, Fozia Ali, the campaign executive with Oceanic, said that she and the comics were disappointed with Glasgow Caledonian University’s decision.

She said: “It seems somewhat ridiculous in a democratic society, in the era of freedom of speech, that the objections of a few cause an educational institution such as Caledonian University to walk away from a contractual agreement.”

A spokeswoman for Glasgow Caledonian University said: “When the Muslim Students’ Association expressed reservations about the show, it was decided the booking would not go ahead.”
