Moderate, peace-loving Mahmoud Abbas mocks the idea of a Jewish state

“The ‘Jewish state.’ What is a ‘Jewish state?’ We call it, the ‘State of Israel’. You can call yourselves whatever you want. But I will not accept it. And I say this on a live broadcast… It’s not my job to define it, to provide a definition for the state and what it contains. JERUSALEM (AFP) – Israel’s Shin Beth internal security service has increased its interrogations of people seeking to leave Hamas-run Gaza for medical treatment, a rights group said in a report on Monday.

Data collected by Physicians for Human Rights-Israel “indicates a rise in the number of Palestinian patients interrogated and forced to provide information as a precondition to exit Gaza for medical care,” it said.

Recognizing Israel as a Jewish state poses temporal and religious problems for Abbas & Co.: Acknowledging and accepting Israel’s Jewish identity disqualifies Muslims’ future claims on the land for negotiation, armed conflict, the claim to a “right of return,” and so forth. Doing so would also acknowledge the historical identity of the region as a Jewish homeland (as opposed to the revisionist story of the allegedly “uncorrupted” followers of a proto-Muslim Abraham). Lastly, it accepts something other than Islamic law as legitimate, which is out of step with the fundamental reason for waging jihad: Imposing Islamic dominion and law.

The new  oldest enemy of the West is ideological Islam. If NATO wants to be a useful instrument in defending the West against this enemy it needs to accept a new member state – Israel – and stop groveling to Turkey.

Last week, Bernard Kouchner, the powerful Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, announced that he is no longer in favor of admitting Turkey to the European Union. Mr. Kouchner changed his mind, he said, at the recent NATO summit in Strasbourg on April 4th. There, Ankara threatened to veto the appointment of Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the Danish Prime Minister, as NATO’s new Secretary-General. The Turks objected to Mr. Rasmussen because in 2005 he defended the freedom of expression of Danish cartoonists who had depicted the Muslim prophet Muhammad.

 A leader of a radical Muslim group which Tony BLiar promised to ban four years ago has called on followers to support “jihad” against Israel at a rally in London.

* Ah yes; Tony BLiar! Wasn’t he the guy who said he would deport 500 Muslim clerics and did none of it?  Isn’t he the guy who reads the Koran every day and thinks we’re all stoopid?

Dr Imran Waheed, told followers of Hizb ut-Tahrir that there could be “no peace” with Israel and urged them to “fight in the way of Allah”.

Melanie Phillips quotes extensively from “The Two – State Solution is 87 Years Old,” an article by Victor Sharpe in the American Thinker, March 29. It is a superb and important piece, as she says, detailing Britain’s long record of betrayals of the Jewish people and appeasement of Arab demands — and even now, jihadist demands grow ever more shrill, and Western politicians prepare to betray Israel yet again in another round of appeasement, with Obama and company acting as if the “two-state solution” has never yet been tried, when it is the only thing that has ever been tried.

Phillips concludes:

It is only if the true history of the Middle East is understood that certain things become inescapably clear: the scale of the monumental lie that has been so assiduously promulgated about the nature of this dispute, a lie which is now generally assumed in the west to be true and which is driving the genocidal hysteria against Israel; the fact that the fundamental cause of this tragic impasse was the repeated British appeasement of Arab terror, illegality and injustice, a policy which continues to this very day; and the immorality and absurdity therefore of believing that today’s ‘two-state solution’ – which among other things means that the ‘progressives’ who support it thus support the ethnic cleansing of all Jews from the putative state of Palestine – would be anything other than a Final Solution for the Jews of Israel, not to mention an incalculable victory for the forces waging war against the free world.

Will Louise Adler and Q&A be as loudly condemnatory of these real abuses by the Palestinian Authoriy forces as they were last week of unsubstantiated abuses by Israel:

Since the end of December 2008, during and after the Israeli military offensive which killed some 1,300 Palestinians, most of them civilians, Hamas forces and militias in the Gaza Strip have engaged in a campaign of abductions, deliberate and unlawful killings, torture and death threats against those they accuse of “collaborating” with Israel, as well as opponents and critics.

Note Amnesty International’s anti-Israeli spin, incidentally, even when criticising Hamas. Its claim that Israeli forces killed 1300 Palestinians, “most of them civilians”, is credibly denied by both Israel and journalists.

Should you be inclined to prefer the Hamas (and Amnesty) account of the death toll, and the claims that 960 of the alleged 1434 dead were civilians, consider this:  What are the odds that most of the dead were civilians when even Hamas concedes that men outnumber the women among the dead 1025 to 121?
