Hundreds of protesters face-off at anti-Islamic demonstration

More than 2,000 people were protesting in political demonstrations in Manchester this afternoon.

Anti-Islamic protesters from the  English Defence League (EDL) were involved in a face-off with counter-campaigners from Unite Against Fascism (UAF)  at the city’s Piccadilly Gardens.

A line of police officers, dogs and mounted police separated the two groups. Police said 30 people had been arrested on suspicion of public order offences, including one on suspicion of carrying a weapon.

Police issued a stern message to troublemakers. Chief Superintendent Gerry Donnellan said: ‘If people come to Manchester to protest they are legally entitled to do so.

‘As soon as they step over the line between lawful protest then we will be taking positive action against those individuals.

Chf Supt Donnellan said there would be a ‘significant spotting operation’ for known troublemakers with back-up from CCTV.

The UAF had earlier indicated that they planned to occupy Piccadilly Gardens to ‘keep the EDL out’.

EDL demonstrators had planned to meet there at 5pm for an address by an ‘expert speaker’, followed by a two-minute silence for soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. They planned to sing the national anthem.

The organisation denies it is racist. In a statement on its website it says it is a ‘multi-ethnic, multi-faith organisation’.

Sham marriages are booming after judges relaxed laws designed to prevent them, figures show.

Growing abuse of marriage laws appeared to have been stemmed that year after non-EU nationals were told they must apply for Home Office approval before marrying an EU citizen.

But last year Law Lords said the rules against fake marriages breached human rights and could deny genuine couples the right to marry.

The figures, an increase of 80 per cent compared with three years ago, were produced by the Home Office and disclosed by More4 News.

It was touted as a victory over the modern slave trade, a raid vital to restoring order to a lawless camp where people-smuggling gangs exploited human misery.

But days after the destruction of the “Jungle” — the makeshift collection of hovels behind the beach that were home to hundreds of migrants seeking to cross the Channel — the claims of British and French ministers to have smashed the criminal networks are proving hollow.

Not a single trafficker was among the 141 adults and 135 children arrested as the camp was evacuated on Tuesday.

By the end of the week, the gangs had resumed their business of making money out of the Afghans, Iraqis, Iranians, Eritreans and other nationalities desperate to reach Britain.

A woman might argue that she needs the dower to support her children. But the UK has child benefit so we know she will get money from the state.* She can’t escape her obligations toward her husband on the pretext of taking care of the children. We might also suggest she give custody of the children to the man if she cannot afford to keep them; she usually refuses. Islamically, we are at a dilemma here. According to Sharia, at the age of seven, the male children are allowed to choose whether to be with the man or the woman. Females, at 14, the age of majority (when Islam deems them “responsible” – able to, for example, trade or marry), should be returned to the man, as it is his, not the woman’s, responsibility to find them a husband.

* This is the attitude of a respected Imam. The infidels can be made to pay for their lifestyle. They believe that the English owe it too them!

UK: Christian hotel owners hauled before court after defending their beliefs in discussion with Muslim guests

A Christian couple have been charged with a criminal offence after taking part in what they regarded as a reasonable discussion about religion with guests at their hotel.

Ben and Sharon Vogelenzang were arrested after a Muslim woman complained to police that she had been offended by their comments.

They have been charged under public order laws with using ‘threatening, abusive or insulting words’ that were ‘religiously aggravated’.

The couple, whose trial has been set for December, face a fine of up to £5,000 and a criminal record if they are convicted.

Although the facts are disputed, it is thought that during the conversation the couple were challenged over their Christian beliefs.

  • At least  twenty five people have died in a Taliban suicide bomb attack in Pakistan, according to the BBC. Another 21 people – chiefly African Union peacekeepers – have been killed in another suicide attack in Somalia, reports Voice of America. The Islamist militant group al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the attack. What to do? Don’t worry about it. Just listen to our regular Islamo-troll solkhar, a self professed propaganda commissar for the ummah Islamiyah who keeps telling us there is no such thing as jihad…

It is understood that they suggested that Mohammed, the founder of Islam, was a warlord and that traditional Muslim dress for women was a form of bondage.

They deny, however, that their comments were threatening and argue that they had every right to defend and explain their beliefs.

Mrs Vogelenzang, 54, who has run the Bounty House Hotel near Aintree racecourse in Liverpool with her husband Ben, 53, for six years, said:  ‘Nothing like this has happened to us before. We are completely shocked.’

Today the London Muslim Centre of the East London Mosque hosted another radical event: “Ramadan – The Month Of Conquest”. It was organised by a group called Ummah Voice.

Not that this has anything to do with Islam or jihad, mind you. Just wondering what they mean with “month of conquest”- any idea, Solkhar?

One of the speakers, Haitham al Haddad, an Islamist of Palestinian origin who grew up in Saudi Arabia and studied sharia at Omdurman University in Khartoum, Sudan, will be familiar to readers of this blog.

Here he is in the midst of a speech hailing the “victory” of Hamas in the Gaza war, saying that he wants the state of Israel to be annihilated. He also offers some utterly bizarre ideas about Jews uncovering Jesuit conspiracies.

My proposed solution for the Israelis is to leave Palestine and to go back to their own countries to live in peace. If they want to live in peace, in real peace, they should leave Palestine and leave it for the Palestinians and those Jews who would like to live in Palestine, but under the Palestinian government, not under the Israeli government.

Many Jews believe that no, they should not live in a separate state in Palestine, and they should not establish the Temple until the antichrist come. So the antichrist should come back first, and then the Jews can have their own state, not the other way around. Many Jews believe that they were fooled by the Jesuits, many of the Jesuits, that they should establish the Temple first, in order for the antichrist to come back. Have you noticed the difference, OK, this is a major difference.

Note that the SIOE demonstration didn’t even take place. The people who were responsible for the violence were the Muslim counter-demonstrators. There is an awful lot of passive voice in this egregious BBC story, but what happened is still more or less clear. The mainstream media only generally breaks out the passive voice in large quantities when it doesn’t want to identify the perpetrators — after all, one wouldn’t want to appear “Islamophobic,” eh wot?

Eight people have been arrested during a demonstration outside a mosque in north-west London where an anti-Islamic protest was planned.

About 1,000 people gathered outside Harrow Central Mosque as activists from Stop Islamification of Europe planned to demonstrate outside the mosque.

Unite Against Fascism were also present to “defend the mosque”, they said.

So it’s “fascist” to oppose the spread of an ideology that would extinguish free speech, freedom of conscience, and the equality of rights of women with men and of people of all creeds? Tell me another.

Bricks, bottles and firecrackers were thrown at police officers who are present in riot gear at the scene.

Tundra Tabloids:  They will not tolerate dissent, Islam will refuse the non-Muslim the right to protest against it. So they do what they do best in quashing dissent, start a riot to help end the demonstration quickly.
