SHAKIR: So you did not slay them, but it was Allah Who slew them, and you did not smite when you smote (the enemy), but it was Allah Who smote, and that He might confer upon the believers a good gift from Himself; surely Allah is Hearing, Knowing.

Allah is also a murderer, according to this verse.

We had the sons of Abu Hamza who, on getting caught in Yemen in 1999 with guns, explosives and dead hostages, still profess their innocence.

You have the case of the idiot behind the bombing of Pan Am 103 who, after getting jailed for his complicity in murdering 270 people, is still crying out he is a victim. (And this is after Libya paid $2.7 Billion in damages to the families of the victims.)

Let’s not forget the sole living terrorist from the Mumbai attacks in India last year. He is not only caught on camera walking around with an automatic weapon, they have his confession on film. Now he is claiming he is innocent of all the charges made against him.

Which brings me to wannbe terrorist Mohammed Atif Siddique from Scotland. Not only was he caught providing information on how to make bombs and such to the faithful via his own dummies website on how to get 72 virgins, police searches of his computer found he had hid many files inside his computer which linked him to a huge terrorist network.

Well, he was jailed for 8 years (in the UK that means 4 and you walk) in 2007. Last year he tried to get bailprior to this appeal… Failed. Now he’s appealing that he is an innocent man.

My neighbour’s cat is currently in my back garden playing with something he has caught. (It’s 04.30 and far too hot to sleep) Even he is more innocent (and I can see the body of the animal he has killed) than any of these so called victims of Justice.

The emirate of Qatar is waiting for Porsche and Volkswagen to settle their power struggle, but its patience will eventually run out, insiders say. Even if it ditches its plans to buy a stake in either firm, though, the wealthy Gulf state still has its sights set on investments in Germany.

The telephones have been ringing off the hook for weeks. From Doha to Volkswagen’s headquarters in Wolfsburg or to Porsche’s base in Zuffenhausen near Stuttgart — German automakers cherish the calls from Qatar’s capital city.

There’s no decision yet on whether the emirate will end up buying a stake in Porsche or in Volkswagen, the two carmakerslocked in an escalating power struggle. While the two carmakers rush out public statements almost every day, Qatar is keeping mum, which begs the question what the country is planning. 

Little is known of its business plans but it’s clear that the tiny country with a population of just 250,000 has embarked on a shopping spree in Europe, and is showing particular interest in Germany. Like many other Gulf states, Qatar wants to reduce its dependence on oil production by snapping up Western know-how and securing stakes in key Western industries.

Gaining Know-How for Domestic Consumption

Qatar has two goals, says Martin Böll, the Dubai correspondent of Germany Trade & Invest, a firm that advises foreign companies that want to expand into the German market. “They want to invest excess capital, secure long-term revenues and diversify. And they also want to obtain know-how for their domestic economy in order to generate jobs in this way,” he says.

Royal Marines abused by anti-war protesters as they hold homecoming parade

A homecoming march by Royal Marines returning after a bloody tour of Afghanistan was hijacked yesterday by anti-war protesters. 

Five militants waving Iraqi flags screamed ‘genocide’ and ‘not in my name’ at soldiers from 3 Commando as they marched from Buckingham Palace to Parliament. 

Some of the protesters also tried to use a megaphone to drown out the Royal Marines band but were beaten when onlookers began to clap and cheer to overcome them.

One of the militants had to be restrained by police until the 120 servicemen and women had gone into the House of Commons, where they were met by Armed Forces Minister Bill Rammell and other dignitaries. 

However, it proved the only slight on what was a special day for 3 Commando, which has suffered more fatalities than any other brigade on their last tour. 

Some 33 of the 3,500 elite unit died, and hundreds more were injured on the gruelling six-month winter tour in southern Helmand province. 

Despite the demonstrations, the soldiers were cheered on by dozens of well-wishers and tourists who gathered outside Wellington barracks in London.
