12 weeks for killing for a man. Sheriff Matt Dillon is spinning in his grave. 

The Muslim peer who was responsible for Geert Wilders’ banning in Britain has been jailed. He “struck and killed a young man with his Jaguar” while text messaging. The victim’s parents were understandably unhappy with the sentence. They lost their son, this  manslaughter inciter of Islamic violence gets 12 weeks.

Lord Ahmed threatened “to bring a force of 10,000 Muslims to lay siege to the House of Lords” if it went ahead with an event at which the Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilders would have introduced a screening of his controversial film Fitna.

* There are currently calls for ex-jailbirds to be barred from the House of Lords, but don’t hold your breath. ‘Lord’ Ahmed is not a hereditary lord, he was made a lord by ex-prime minister, the unlamented Tony ‘Bliar’ Blair, a few years back.

Control orders are imposed on people whom the Government says are too dangerous to be at large but who cannot be prosecuted in an open court…

A total of 15 control orders are currently in place. Of the 15 subjects, nine are receiving some sort of welfare payments. Seven of them are receiving Job Seeker’s Allowance, which is worth £60.50 a week to people over 25.

And, no, we don’t really need to be told what cause these people are believed to serve.

“His release and return from Guantanamo Bay is the result of a number of years of very hard work by officials with him and with his team.

“Obviously the release of Binyam Mohamed is the first release from Guantanamo Bay since the election of President (Barack) Obama.

“We very much welcome President Obama’s commitment to close Guantanamo Bay and I see today’s return of Binyam Mohamed as the first step towards that shared goal, ” he added.

Mohamed just arrived back to UK coming from Guantanamo with a coverage of his arrival by media.

Or perhaps it is like a horror film in which the killer sneaks up behind the hapless victim while the movie audience yells: “Turn around! Turn around!” And then blood spatters the screen.

Unfortunately, in this case, it might be our blood, and it won’t be produced by a special effects department.

Today, US policy and the dominant thinking are not based on realpolitik but on international affairs as a popularity contest. Its motto might be, “The nice will inherit the Earth,” as the Obama administration tries to prove that it’s not like that mean old Bush.

Before we get to the oncoming train, consider two small but indicative examples.

Scene 1: The UN committee planning the Durban-2 pro-racism – I mean “anti-racism” – conference. Libya chairs the committee, Iran is the vice-chair, Cuba, the rapporteur, and Russia is presiding. The plan is designed to ensure that the conference limits free speech, bashes Israel and enshrines Muslims as the world’s only and perpetual victims.

The US representative stands to propose amendments. Is the speech a thunderous denunciation of dictatorship and a defense of liberty? Not exactly. Here is the key sentence: “I hate to be the cause of unhappiness in the room… I have to suggest [amendments] and I offer my sincere apologies.”

CAIR-AZ urges Sen. Kyl to recognize that there are ‘Muslims in his own state’

PHOENIX, Feb. 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The Arizona chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-AZ) today called on one of that state’s senators to invite Muslim representatives to offer a balancing perspective to a screening of an anti-Islam film he is hosting in Congress.

On Thursday, Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) will host a closed-door screening of a 15-minute film by Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders. Wilders was recently denied entry to Britain because of his extreme anti-Muslim views, including urging that the Quran, Islam’s revealed text, should be banned. One of the event’s co-sponsors, the Center for Security Policy headed by Frank Gaffney, is linked to an anti-Islam group that has advocated prison terms in the U.S. for “adherence to Islam.”

Charles “Chas” Freeman, a former U.S. ambassador to Saudi Arabia, had business connections with the bin Laden family and their Saudi Binladin Group, a multi-billion dollar construction conglomerate founded by the father of Osama bin Laden. As chairman of Projects International, Inc., a company that develops international business deals, Mr. Freeman asserted in an interview with the Associated Press less than a month after September 11 that he was still “discussing proposals with the Bin Laden Group—and that won’t change.”

Home Secretary Jacqui Smith is ‘merely tinkering around the edges’

While the media minutely scrutinise Harriet Harman’s ambition, Jacqui Smith’s expenses and David Cameron’s taste in clothes, a lower form of political pond life altogether is expanding like duck-weed.

Last week, the British National Party won a council seat in Sevenoaks, Kent.

This should make us all sit up and take notice. Kent is not ethnically-riven Tower Hamlets or Bradford.

True, it was a Labour seat on this council that fell to the BNP’s Paul Golding – a charming character whom the party once expelled for allegedly attacking another BNP councillor.

Yet Suburban Sevenoaks is not some angry, marginalised working-class area but the placid Tory home counties.

This suggests that receptiveness to the BNP’s odious ideas is now spreading into mainstream British life.
