On the evening of Sunday 9th of August 2009, a gay male couple was attacked on their way home from a concert and dinner in the center of Oslo and were walking hand in hand along the road just next to where they live, in the Grønland district of east-central Oslo. A man followed them, shouted “this is a Muslim district” and kicked one of them hard from behind. Anders’ boyfriend used his mobile phone to call the police, and the attacker quickly fled the scene. Bono may not be Bosnian for much longer. The U2 frontman, who carries an honorary Bosnian passport, may be stripped of the document as officials investigate the legality of the award.

Bono,  the untalented frontman for ‘save the world with others peoples money’ activist is a long time supporter of Mustafa Ceric’s Narco-Jihad Republic Bosnia.

The controversy erupted after a recent U2 gig in Zagreb, Croatia, when Bono reportedly said that his Bosnian passport was one of his most treasured possessions. The passport was given to him in 1997 by Alija Izetbegović, the late Bosnian president, recognising the singer’s support during the Bosnian war. (Izetbegovic, as you can see from the link, is an Al Qaeda associate who wanted to turn Bosnia into an Islamic Republic.)

At the time of the award, Bono compared Bosnia with Northern Ireland. “It’s a small country and we have been divided also,” he said. “We are trying to wrestle our world from the fools of the past and give it to the wise men of the future.”

This year, Bosnian officials have revoked several hundred citizenships granted “illegally”, Balkan Insight reports. Most of these were granted to Islamic fighters who joined Bosnian forces in the war with Croatia and what was then Yugoslavia. Bosnian Serb officials claim that the country’s law does not allow for honorary citizenships.

“If we establish that a passport was given outside a regular legal procedure, we will have no other option but to take it away,” Sredoje Novic, minister of civil affairs, admitted. “We cut no slack to anybody, not even for Bono Vox.”

Others have accused Novic of pursuing a Bosnian Serb agenda. The minister’s deputy, Senad Sepic, said that revoking Bono’s passport would “besmirch everything valuable which anybody from the world has given to our country”, according to Sarajevo newspaper Dnevni Avaz.

The anti-immigration mayor of a northern Italian city has barred Muslim women from wearing the body-concealing swimsuit known as a burkini and has threatened to fine them if spotted on the beach or at swimming pools, a report said Wednesday.

Women wearing the garment made up of a veil, a tunic and loose leggings face a fine of €500 ($700) if spotted at swimming pools or riversides in the northern Piedmont town of Varallo Sesia, the ANSA news agency reported.

“The sight of a ‘masked woman’ could disturb small children, not to mention problems of hygiene,” Mayor Gianluca Buonanno was quoted as saying.

“We don’t have to be tolerant all the time,” he said.

Justifying the move, Buonanno added: “Imagine a Western woman bathing in a bikini in a Muslim country. The consequences could be decapitation, prison or deportation. We are merely prohibiting the use of the burkini.”

Last week a swimming pool in Paris refused entry to a burkini-clad woman on similar grounds, adding to tensions over Muslim dress in France.

The incident came as French lawmakers conducted hearings on whether to ban the burqa, which is not obligatory in Islam, after President Nicolas Sarkozy said the head-to-toe body covering and veil was “not welcome” in France, home to Europe’s biggest Muslim minority.

Lawyers acting for Miguel Hayworth, 29, have demanded an explanation over the alleged intimidation and abuse of power by three officers.

Andrea Minichiello Williams, the director of the Christian Legal Centre, has written to Peter Fahy, the Chief Constable of Greater Manchester, over the incident.

She claims that Mr Hayworth and his father, John, 55, were unlawfully and unfairly treated as they preached Christianity in the city at the end of July.   “They were clearly told that reading the Bible and preaching can be offensive and that they could be arrested,” she wrote.

Bolt has used his columns and blogs to engage in vilification of a host of groups:
Somalis, Lebanese, Pacific Islanders, Sudanese, Africans, Muslims and so on. Of course, we still must be concerned about the possible Talibanisation of local Muslims. But those concerns aren’t furthered when we have columnists and shock jocks using Talibanesque language.

Groups like al-Qaeda and al-Shabaab want their potential recruits to feel marginalised. Andrew Bolt and others are serving their purpose. Osama bin Laden need not lift a finger when he has at least one Herald Sun columnist doing the job for him.

Italy: Burkini scares children in Verona pool

first close-up look at a burkini – an outfit consisting of
head scarf, tunic and trousers – when a woman showed up at a
Verona swimming pool wearing the outfit.
In France, a woman was recently evicted from a pool
outside Paris for wearing the head-to-toe swimwear because
officials said the outfit was unhygienic.
Christian Panzarini, the manager of the Verona pool,
said he had not asked the woman to leave despite several
complaints from mothers who said she had frightened their
tots.
However, Panzarini asked the woman to send him an
e-mail detailing the kind of textile used for the outfit to
see if it was in line with hygienic regulations.

Lord Patel condemns Fitzpatrick’s ‘cowardly attack’ on Muslim constituents

A Labour peer has demanded an apology from Jim Fitzpatrick, the Farming minister, after Mr Fitzpatrick publicly criticised the segregation of men and women at Muslim weddings.

Lord Patel of Blackburn, a senior figure in Britain’s Muslim community, accused Mr Fitzpatrick of launching a “cowardly attack” on Muslims who opted for a segregated wedding, accusing him of pandering to “anti-Muslim sentiment” within his constituency. (Who in the f*#k made this turd a “Lord?”)

One of these days I’ll hopefully get married and a ceremony is likely to be held at a Sikh Gurdwara (more because my parents will want to have a ceremony there rather than on account of my own religiousness). In a Gurdwara the guys sit on one side and girls sit on the other side, and the bride-groom in the middle. If some MP came and didn’t like it, buggered off, and then sent a press release to all the media going on how about insulting he found it – I wouldn’t speak to that tosser ever….

In the midst of the raging economic crisis, with the tourist industry in Austria experiencing a dramatic drop, the number of Arab visitors to Austria vacation spots remains the same. Even though Middle Eastern tourists are propping up the Austrian economy, not all Austrians are happy with the ethnic shift in the tourist industry.

Our Austrian correspondent ESW has translated an article from the print edition of NEWS magazine, published on August 13, 2009:

The Arabs are coming…

…and are spending a lot of money. Tourists from the Middle East spend more money during their vacation than all the others.

…but many don’t want them. In Zell am See, many restaurant owners are ranting against the Arabs.

Luxury tourists. Large Arab families are on tour in Austria and leave millions in the country. Still, not all of them are popular everywhere.

Zell am See Arabs 1“Zell am See is prostituting itself,” rants Hermann Mosshammer in a regional magazine. “I want to be able to walk around town five years from now without a muezzin calling to prayer from a church tower.” He owns two cafés in Zell am See and has a problem with the tourists who hail from the Arabian peninsula. The lake, the mountains, the glacier: all wonders of nature in the Pinzgau [a district of Salzburg, an Austrian province] attract holiday makers from Dubai, Qatar, and other places.

Seventeen percent of all summer tourists in Zell am See are from the Arabian gulf. In July and August 2008, approximately 100,000 Arabs visited the city of 9,700 inhabitants, thereby saving the already limping summer tourism numbers. Austria’s capital, Vienna, also profits from this boom: there were a remarkable 137,000 overnight stays [an Austrian euphemism to count tourist stays] from Arab countries in 2008.

But not everyone is excited about the boom. Café owner Mr. Mosshammer is not alone in his opinion. NEWS visited Zell am See and many restaurant owners support what polls have shown: Eighty percent of those polled want to stop all promotional activities in Arab countries. More specifically, it is those in the restaurant and catering business who do not benefit from the Arab boom who do not see the exotic visitors as cash-cows saving their summer business, but who see them as part of a cultural problem.

“All the veiled women in their burqas are changing the appearance of our town. The men treat the waiters and other hotel personnel like second class humans. Many regular guests and visitors from the Netherlands and Germany are being scared off. We need a new and healthier mix of guests,” an agitated restaurant owner, requesting anonymity, tells NEWS.

Zell am See Arabs 2Such polemics are problematic and economically fatal, especially in a year of crisis such as 2009, in which tourism numbers in Austria are expected to dip by 3.5%. It is the Gulf Arab holidaymakers who can save the tourism industry from a total collapse. Sheikhs tend to vacation with a different budget compared to central Europeans. The national average shows that visitors from the Middle East spend at least 30 percent more than all other tourists; they stay at five-star hotels, often with their extended families, and shopping is their favorite activity while vacationing.

There is no crisis mode.
