An Ann Arbor elementary school principal used a letter home to parents tonight to defend a field trip for black students as part of his school’s efforts to close the achievement gap between white and black students.

Dicken Elementary School Principal Mike Madison wrote the letter to parents following several days of controversy at the school after a field trip last week in which black students got to hear a rocket scientist.

“In hindsight, this field trip could have been approached and arranged in a better way,” Madison wrote. “But as I reflect upon the look of excitement, enthusiasm and energy that I saw in these children’s eyes as they stood in the presence of a renowned African American rocket scientist in a very successful position, it gave the kids an opportunity to see this type of achievement is possible for even them.     Rest here »

Is it fair that with above average grades I could not qualify for a college scholarship, but less qualified people automatically go to school for FREE? No!!! guess what I joined the Army for four years did my time now I can go to school. Is it fair that less qualified people can take away jobs from people who worked harder and longer to become more qualified? It is the b.s. that keeps black people from progressing past the status quo set years ago. Actually it is this b.s. that has caused a regression from the status quo built up by a noble people who EARNED the right to be respected.

A JORDANIAN man was sentenced to death last night for killing his wife and chopping her body up into small pieces because she allegedly refused to have sex with him, a court official said.

“Amman’s criminal court condemned to death the 28-year-old man, who worked as a nurse, for killing his wife in December 2007, claiming she stopped having sex after giving birth to a baby boy during their 18-month-old marriage,” the official said.

“Alleging that his wife, who was in her twenties, disrespected him and disobeyed him, the convict murdered the woman after drugging her.”

The official said the man, who hid the remains in different places to cover up his crime in Ruseifa, northeast of the capital Amman, was arrested in November 2008 after investigations revealed he was behind the murder.

Check out my favorite headline of the day — no, make that year. The AP headline reads: “NY car bomb suspect cooperates, but motive mystery.”

It’s only a mystery if you’re in the media and really stupid. Everyone else pretty much understands why the terrorist left a fuel bomb in an area filled with families: He hates us, he wants us dead.

But the media — full of fragile egos and bubble-encased boobs — can’t see that. In fact, it’s kind of awesome how huge their blind spot toward radical Islam is. If only there could be other motives, so they’d never have to place blame on anything (other than America, of course).

So I thought I’d help them with motives they could be comfortable with: Why did Faisal Shahzad try to blow us up?

• Obviously, global warming: The rising temperature forced him to jog at night. Plus, it made his beard itch

• Wall Street greed: Faisal was so enraged by this that he got lost and ended up in the Theater District. Better luck next time

• The “The Lion King” musical didn’t reflect the horror of Bushitler the way “American Idiot” does

• Walmart: Their cheap prices deeply offended his “mom and pop” sensibilities

• Lack of workplace diversity: Well, except for MSNBC. Their whiteness gets a pass because their hearts are in the right place

• Same sex marriage won’t lead to marrying a goat — sadly

• Bill Ayers never returned his ball gag

• Evil Tea Partiers who mock Islam with their delightful bacon and egg salad sandwiches

Actually, it must be the Tea Partiers’ fault for they created the hateful climate that encouraged Shazhad. In fact, let’s also blame the Arizona immigration bill, Rush Limbaugh, offshore drilling, and, of course, Fox News. Because all that stuff is evil — unlike, you know, real evil.

Islamic groups hope the vast majority of Australians will see through the comments as “nothing short of either ignorance or political opportunism”.

Writing on his personal blog, outspoken South Australian senator Cory Bernardi referred to a burqa-clad man who robbed a Sydney shop, commenting that the veil was now “emerging as the preferred disguise of bandits and n’er do wells”.

He wants to see it banned, but also because it prevents women from interacting in normal day-to-day life.

“The burqa isolates some Australians from others,” he wrote.

“It is un-Australian … and its symbolic barrier is far greater than the measure of cloth it is created from.

“For safety and for society, the burqa needs to be banned in Australia.”

“The criminal dregs of white society colonised this country, and now, they only take the select choice of other societies, and the descendants of these criminal dregs tell us that they are better than us.”

Islamic Friendship Association’s Keysar Trad rejected the call as “ignorant.”

Wearing the burqa actually encouraged women to integrate into Australian society, whereas a ban would only force them indoors where they’d “miss out on the vitamin D”.

“It’s tantamount to denying them the right to drive, the right to enjoy all the services of society as well as equal opportunity,” Trad said.

Really?  Trad is playing the Italian “chicken” game here. By restricting a woman’s movements even more and blaming it on the state’s efforts to prevent it… not unlike the frequently encountered, circular argument that fighting back against jihad is the root cause of jihad. Australian authorities, for their part, may want to consider the application of rules on wrongful imprisonment.

“I hope Australians will see this for what it is, it’s nothing short of either ignorance or political opportunism.”

In France, a bid to ban the veil from public places was about President Nicolas Sarkozy trying to win anti-Islamic votes, Trad said.

It was no surprise that with only months to go before a federal election, an Australian politician was trying the same tack.

But such comments only drove a wedge into the community. (Not. Mohammedans drive a wedge in our community. Mohammedanism divides us, Mohammedanism has to be stopped in Australia/ed)

FINANCIAL DISTRICT — The old Burlington Coat Factory building on Park Place has sat shuttered and empty since the landing gear from a hijacked plane crashed through the roof on 9/11.

Now, a Muslim group hopes to build a mosque and cultural center there, replacing what they see as the worst of Islam with the best. (What’s the best of Islam? Have I been missing something?)

“We have a vision that is opposite the vision of the extremists,” said Daisy Khan, executive director of the Cordoba Initiative, the group behind the center. “We want to be a driving force for the rebuilding of Lower Manhattan.”
Community Board 1’s Financial District Committee embraced the center’s message of tolerance and voted unanimously Wednesday night to support the project.

“Finally we can get that ugly space taken care of,” said Pat Moore, a member of the committee who lives nearby.

But other members of the community, who did not attend Wednesday’s meeting, want the mosque to find a different home.
“It doesn’t belong down here,” said Rosemary Cain, whose firefighter son was killed on 9/11. “It makes me sick to think the city would allow such a thing.”
While Cain acknowledged that “not every person who is Muslim is a terrorist,” she thinks the Muslim community as a whole never sufficiently declaimed the attacks.  John Schmidt, 29, a construction worker who is rebuilding the World Trade Center, also got angry when he heard about the plans.
“No way,” he said. “Muslims bombed the towers. Why would they put a mosque next to the Freedom Tower?”

What would our world look like if Muslims were given complete freedom to practice their religion?

Muslim clerics in Lucknow expressed their displeasure at the French President Nicolas Sarkozy for terming the burqa as an index of subjugating women, and said Muslims must be given complete freedom to practice their religion.

“It’s an attack on freedom of humanity”

(note once again, please, that Muslims only consider Muslims as human. Unbelievers are  “things najis”, filth, vermin, sons of apes and pigs and “killing unbelievers is a small matter to us…”)

If Muslims are living in their country, then the Muslims must be given complete freedom to practice their religion; else declare it a Christian theocratic country so that all the Muslims would leave,” said Maulana Kalbe Jawad Naqvi, a senior Shia Muslim cleric.

(Gee, what a simple solution! Why didn’t anyone think of this before?)

The burqa is no longer simply the symbol of female repression and Islamic culture, it is now emerging as the preferred disguise of bandits and n’er do wells.

In Sydney this morning a man was robbed by a burqa wearing bandit who further disguised his (or her) identity by wearing sunglasses. The bandit was described by police as being of “Middle Eastern appearance”.

It also establishes a different set of rules and societal expectations in our hitherto homogenous society.
