"Jihad is defensive warfare"… except when its not:

German Muslim charged with stabbing Frankfurt rabbi

* That header sux: the assassin was not a German but an Afghan asylum seeker who stabbed the Frankfurt rabbi. The poor Muslim-SOB just had to ‘defend himself’  against a live rabbi who came walking down the street…

A 23-year-old German Muslim went on trial Thursday for stabbing a rabbi in Frankfurt, telling a court that he felt threatened by the rabbi and had acted in self-defense.

Defendant Sajed Aziz testified that the Frankfurt-based rabbi, Zalman Gurevitch, approached him in a threatening manner on a street in the city in September. He said he reacted by pulling a knife and stabbing the rabbi, but did not intend to kill him. Prosecutors have said the rabbi told authorities at the
time of the attack that his assailant said, “I’ll kill you, you (expletive) Jew,” Then pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the stomach. (AP)

Germany: subjecting Muslim imams to surveillance is ‘unfair’, government should monitor Christian clergy also….

* yeah, those Catholics and Protestants need monitoring, because Islam is a Religion of Peace and these crusaders are evil warmongers…

Leaders from Germany’s Muslim community say that the regulations could subject Muslim imams to surveillance from which Christian clergy are exempt.

* Can’t have that!

Muslim leaders, feel that they have been deceived. The government’s justification for keeping imams under surveillance is a “specious argument,” said Aiman Mazyek, secretary general of the Central Council of Muslims, in an interview with SPIEGEL ONLINE.

In reality, said Mazyek, the regulation is a form of “state-sanctioned discrimination.”

* We should not discriminate, because all religions are the same, are they not?

Netherlands: Radical imam teachers to hate infidels

439568110_baa23ff09c_m.jpg

* Actually, you got it all wrong: they were just trying to sing ‘all you need is love’ by the Beatles. Its only the media that always discriminates against Muslims and gives Islam a bad name:

Islam teachers Suhayb Salam from Tilburg, taught his students to hate infidels, according ot journalist Patrick Pouw in his book “Salaam! Een jaar onder orthodoxe moslims” (Salam! A year among orthodox Muslims). Suhayb is the son of Tilburg imam Ahmed Salam, who had in the past refused to shake minister Verdonk’s hand.

For a year Pouw learned by the ultra-orthodox Salafist Salam, manager of the Islamic Institute for Upbringing and Education. In this institute youth are taught to be preachers of the “only true faith, Islam”.

Salam hammed in ever lesson on the duty to hate unbelievers. Pouw writes in his book: “We learned that all infidels were enemies of Allah, that everybody who didn’t follow Islam is an enemy of Allah. We heard that sincere love for Allah means that we must hate his enemies, and must see them as our enemies. That was nothing less than an obligation.”

Salam told his students that Muslims may not report each other to the police. “Since that would mean that a non-Muslim, an infidel, would judge a Muslim.”

He also advised a student who had a bible in his house to burn it.

Salam, who knew Pouw was a journalist, did not want to comment on Netwerk, but said that “all claims about inciting hate are nonsense.”

Abu Izzadeen will not drink the blood of the enemy, at least not yet…

* That’s because he just got life in prison for inciting and funding terrorism:

UK jihadist who praised London bombings gets life term

“We are the Muslims. We drink the blood of the enemy…That is Islam and that is jihad”

*  Izzadeen’s egotism has led him to make pronouncements designed to attract attention. Just days before 7/7, he said Muslims must “instill terror into the hearts of the kuffar”. He declared “I am a terrorist. As a Muslim of course I am a terrorist.”

For Abu Izzadeen’s delightful encounter with John Reid, in which he essentially denied British sovereignty over predominantly Muslim areas of East London, see here. For his mocking of the victims of the London bombings, see here.

“Muslim fanatic who heckled John Reid faces life in prison for inciting and funding terrorism,” from the Daily Mail (thanks to all who sent this in):

An Islamist who once praised the July 7 suicide attacks on London was today found guilty of fundraising for terrorists and inciting terrorism overseas.
Abu Izzadeen, 32, a former electrician who once heckled the former Home Secretary John Reid, was convicted at the end of a three-and-a-half month trial at Kingston Crown Court along with five other men who were also found guilty.

Sulayman Keeler, 35, who was born Simon Keeler to a Roman Catholic family in Crawley, West Sussex, was convicted of the same two charges as Izzadeen.

Abdul Saleem, 32, and Ibrahim Hassan, 25, were convicted of inciting terrorism but cleared of fundraising for terrorists.

Shah Jilal Hussain and Abdul Muhid, both 25, were found guilty of fundraising for terrorists.

Rajib Khan, 29, was cleared of the same charge. The jury failed to reach a verdict in respect of the charge of inciting terrorism overseas in his case.

They also failed to reach a verdict in respect of Omar Zaheer, 28, also charged with the same offence.

The jury did not return a verdict on a third offence of encouraging terrorism faced by Izzadeen, who was born in Hackney, east London and who changed his name from Trevor Brooks after converting to Islam.

Izzadeen described the 2005 suicide bomb attacks in London as “mujahideen activity” which would make people “wake up and smell the coffee”….

Norway Caves To Terrorism & Blackmail: Mullah Krekar Can Stay!

Krekar can stay in Norway

* Another victory for a very despicable Islamo-scumbag:

After months of quiet diplomacy, the Norwegian government has given up on efforts to send former terrorist-group leader Mullah Krekar back to his homeland.

norway__krekar_titt_744724h.jpg

Mullah Krekar, shown here as he is sentenced to expulsion in 2007, will be allowed to stay in Norway because of human rights issues.

*

Krekar, who has been under an expulsion order after being determined a threat to Norway’s national security, initially came to Norway as a refugee from Iraq in the early 1990s.

It later emerged that he was the head of guerrilla group Ansar al-Islam and he repeatedly violated the terms of his asylum by travelling back to northern Iraq to lead guerrilla activities.

Krekar is the only person in Norway ever to have been sentenced to deportation because he is a danger to the country’s security.

However, Norway has not been able to deport Krekar because he faces the death penalty in his homeland. (which didn’t deter the SOB to visit his homeland and his terrorist org. at least twice since he claimed asylum in Norway) Norway will not extradite anyone if they are under threat of execution when they are returned to their country of origin.

Diplomatic efforts failed

Labour and Inclusion Minister Bjarne Hanssen has been trying to negotiate a way to carry out the deportation order, which was upheld by a Supreme Court decision, but his diplomatic efforts have failed, reports Aftenposten.no.

After meeting with the EU’s coordinator for anti-terrorist operations, Gilles de Kerchove, in Brussels during the last two days, Hanssen has concluded that the Norwegian government cannot come to an agreement with Iraq that will allow Krekar to be sent home safely.

This means Krekar will be allowed to stay in Norway indefinitely.

Q: if one releases gas then why does wudu have to be repeated?

A: Islamic law is not based on logical reasoning alone. There are a number of

whatever has been ordained by the Qur’aan and Sunnah whether it makes sense to us or not.
Our understanding is limited upto a certain point.

Archbishop of Canterbury says Middle East Christians are suffering persecution because of 'American global project'

* Seriously, seriously deluded: blaming the victim for rape is not only a Muhammedan trait. Rowan Williams, the floating head of Canterbury, defecates on America and Britain, again:

floating-head-of-canterbury.jpg

Christians in the Middle East are facing persecution because of British and American foreign policy, the Archbishop of Canterbury will claim today.

Dr Rowan Williams will say that many Christians have been forced to flee their homes in the Holy Land because of ‘appalling pressure’ from extremist Islamic groups.

And he will warn that historic communities risk becoming mere ‘museum pieces’ in the ‘theme park’ Middle East because of the military policies of the West.

During an appearance in London yesterday, he said there was a risk that the region could become a “monochrome” area dominated by an “unfriendly” form of Islam.

* Are there any ‘friendly forms’ of genocide, pedophilia or rape?

Indigenous Christian groups were increasingly being seen as a ‘foreign and aggressive’ presence, he added.

The Archbishop will make the comments in a speech at Westminster Cathedral later today.

He will say that historically Christians have played a leading role in social, cultural and intellectual change in the Middle East.

But historic communities now risked becoming mere ‘museum pieces’ in a ‘theme park’ region as a result of persecution.

In part this was due to an extremist form of Islam filling the void left following the peak of Arab nationalism, the head of the Church of England will claim.

But he also blames the role of Western governments.

Dr Williams will say: ‘Indigenous Christian community throughout the region have suffered from being associated with the American global project, and indeed the British global project as part of the American global project.’

He cites a recent visit to Syria in which he met some of the half million refugees who had fled Iraq since 2003.

Philippines: "Pay the Jiziyah or Else…" sez Ex-Terrorist

1_200591_1_9.jpg
COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A Muslim rebel-turned-politician has warned of unabated lawlessness and terrorism to be unleashed by militant armed groups in Mindanao unless the problem of poverty was addressed immediately.

* There are many poor Christians in the Phillipines, did they ever resort to terrorism if their problem was not addressed immediatiely?

In a two-hour dialogue here with 14 visiting European envoys on Tuesday, new Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) chair Muslimin Sema said terrorist and other criminal activities were inevitable when “our people continue to remain poor and starving.”

Sema, who is also the mayor of Cotabato City, took over leadership of the MNLF from founder Nur Misuari. The MNLF, the main Muslim insurgency, signed a peace agreement with the government in 1996.

Sema told the envoys headed by French Ambassador Gerard Chesnel that the government had failed to implement some provisions of the 1996 peace agreement.

He warned that “other militant groups may grow weary and desperate [because] of the government’s inaction and may resort to violence and ways of destabilization.”

Chesnel told Sema and other Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) officials that they came here to assess the security situation and the socioeconomic condition of the Muslims.

STOP THE "ISLAMIC STUDIES" BS IN THE WEST!

U.K.: “Private donations, mostly to Islamic study centres, are much greater than government funding for Islamic studies and academics are said to be nervous of the threat to their academic freedom.”

oxford-central-mosque.jpg

* Mosque in Oxford denies call to prayer plan (they always do, but once they set it up they claim ‘their rights’)

* With good reason. More on this story. “Concerns over funding of Islamic studies,” from the Guardian:

A confidential meeting called by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (Hefce) about Islamic studies will take place today amid fears that Saudi and Muslim organisations exert too much influence over UK universities as a result of donations that dwarf government funding.

* “Up to 48 universities in Britain have been infiltrated by fundamentalists financed by Muslim groups.”

Private donations, mostly to Islamic study centres, are much greater than government funding for Islamic studies and academics are said to be nervous of the threat to their academic freedom.

Dr Denis MacEoin, Islam expert at Newcastle University, said academics were nervous about handling topics that might upset their sponsors.

*
“It’s part of an overall belief that only Muslims can teach Islam, which in an academic context is entirely wrong. It would soon remove the possibility for genuine academic debate.”

*
He said increasing numbers of students with Salafist – a more traditional form of Islam – backgrounds were taking Islamic studies and could be upset by “proper academic critical debate”.

“It does threaten academic freedom and critical thinking,” he warned.

UPDATE: US offers Pakistan 7 billion because they do nothing about fighting terrorism…

· Civilian cabinet told drone air strikes will be curbed

The US has promised to curb air strikes by drones against suspected militants in Pakistan, as part of a joint counter-terrorism strategy agreed with the new civilian government in Islamabad, the Guardian has learned. That strategy will be supported by an aid package potentially worth more than $7bn (£3.55bn), which is due to go before Congress for approval in the next few months.

The package would triple the amount of American non-military aid to Pakistan, and is aimed at “redefining” the bilateral relationship, US officials say.

Pakistan will also be given a “democracy dividend” of up to $1bn, a reward for holding peaceful elections and forming a coalition government. Of that, $200m could be approved in the next few days.

The aid package, being put together by the Democratic senator Joseph Biden, will mark a decisive break in US policy on Pakistan, which for much of the past nine years focused on President Pervez Musharraf and the Pakistani military as Washington’s primary partners in the “war on terror”. Officials in Washington said yesterday that the shift had already been made.

A Gulish Turkey? The Fethullah Gulen Movement & the Islamization of Turkey

Turkey’s Turning Point

Could there be an Islamic Revolution in Turkey?

by Michael Rubin

* Deja Vue: 30 years ago a rather unknown Ayatollah Khomeini brought down the Shah of Iran and spearheaded the Islamic revolution. Are we seeing the same happening in Turkey?

amerikan_sikini_az_vermisler_fetosa.jpg

* Update: Turkish Islamic preacher – threat or benefactor?

Few U.S. policymakers have heard of Fethullah Gülen, perhaps Turkey’s most prominent theologian and political thinker. Self-exiled for more than a decade, Gülen lives a reclusive life outside Philadelphia, Pa. Within months, however, he may be as much a household a name in the United States as is Ayatollah Khomeini, a man who was as obscure to most Americans up until his triumphant return to Iran almost 30 years ago.

Istanbul 2008 may very well look like Tehran 1979.

Just as Gülen’s supporters affirm his altruistic intentions and see no inconsistency between a secretive, cell-based movement and transparent governance, too many Western journalists also give Gülen a free pass.

If this sounds familiar, it should: Three decades ago, the same phenomenon marked coverage of Iran. “I don’t want to be the leader of the Islamic Republic; I don’t want to have the government or power in my hands,” Khomeini told a credulous Austrian television reporter during the ayatollah’s brief sojourn in Paris. In November 1978, Steven Erlanger, the future New York Times foreign correspondent, penned a New Republic essay arguing that Khomeini’s vision for Iran was essentially a “Platonic Republic with a grand ayatollah as a philosopher-king,” and predicting the triumph of an independent liberal left worried more about labor conditions in Iran’s oil fields than pursuing any theological tendency.

In Tehran then as in Ankara now, U.S. ambassadors preferred garden parties with the political elite and maintained contacts with only a narrow segment of the population. They were blind. As the State Department and Central Intelligence Agency remained clueless or belittled concerns about Khomeini’s intentions, millions of Iranians turned out to greet their Imam at Tehran’s international airport. Turks now say that similar crowds might greet Gülen when his plane touches down in Istanbul.

Many academics and journalists embrace Gülen and applaud his stated vision welding Islam with tolerance and a pro-European outlook. Supporters describe him as progressive. In 2003, the University of Texas honored him as a “peaceful hero,” alongside Martin Luther King Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, and the Dalai Lama. Last October, the British House of Lords and several British diplomats celebrated Gülen at a high-profile London conference. Later this year, Georgetown University scholar John Esposito will host a conference dedicated to the movement. As in 2001, Esposito will cosponsor with the Rumi Forum, an organization Gülen serves as honorary president.

The Gülen movement controls charities, real estate, companies, and more than a thousand schools internationally. According to some estimates, the Gülen Movement controls several billion dollars. The movement claims its own universities, unions, lobbies, student groups, radio and television stations, and the Zaman newspaper. Turkish officials concede that Gülen’s followers in Turkey number more than a million; Gülen’s backers claim that number is just the tip of the iceberg. Today, Gülen members dominate the Turkish police and divisions within the interior ministry. Under the stewardship of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan, one of Gülen’s most prominent sympathizers, tens of thousands of other Gülen supporters have entered the Turkish bureaucracy.

While Gülen supporters jealously guard his image in the West, he remains a controversial figure in Turkey. According to Cumhuriyet, a left-of-center establishment daily — Turkey’s New York Times — in 1973, the Izmir State Security Court convicted Gülen of “attempting to destroy the state system and to establish a state system based on religion;” he received a pardon, though, and so never served time in prison. In 1986, the Turkish military — the constitutional guardians of the state’s secularism — purged a Gülen cell from the military academy; the Turkish military has subsequently acted against a number of other alleged Gülen cells who they say infiltrated military ranks.

In 1998, according to Turkish court transcripts cited in the Turkish Daily News, Gülen urged followers in the judiciary and state bureaucracy to “work patiently to take control of the state.” The following year, the independent Turkish television station ATV broadcast a secretly taped Gülen telling supporters, “If they . . . come out early, the world will squash their heads. They will make Muslims relive events in Algeria,” a reference to the Islamic Salvation Front’s overwhelming 1991 election victory in the North African state. After party leaders spoke of voiding the constitution and implementing Islamic law, the Algerian military staged a coup leading to a civil conflict that killed tens of thousands.

European Libyan Policy is Cynical

by Michael Rubin

Take terrorism: In 2004, as European officials welcomed Qadhafi on his first trip to Europe in 15 years and discussed his rehabilitation, the colonel reminded them of what he would do if they did not meet his demands. Standing beside Prodi, the Libyan leader warned: “We do hope that we shall not be obliged or forced one day to go back to those days where we bomb our cars or put explosive belts around our beds and around our women.” Diplomats can claim the Libyan leader has had a change of heart but, for Qadhafi, terrorism remains on the menu of acceptable options should European bribery or diplomacy prove less than fruitful.
