Strasbourg: taxpayer money to fund Islamic stronghold

Row erupts in France over plans to use state funds to build Strasbourg mosque

There are no “state funds”. All money the state redistributes is taxpayer money. In this case, it would be against the laws of the secular republic to build a Mohammedan stronghold.

A row has erupted in France over plans to build a mosque in Strasbourg, with the interior ministry on Wednesday accusing the municipal authorities there of using public money to fund “foreign meddling” on French soil. 

 

While President Emmanuel Macron wants to crack down on Islamic extremism, which he blames for a series of deadly terror attacks in France since 2015, the planned mosque in the eastern French city has found itself in the government’s crosshairs because it is backed by a leading Turkish Muslim group.

On Monday, municipal officials in Strasbourg, run by a Green mayor, approved a grant of 2.5 million euros (nearly $3 million) to the Milli Gorus Islamic Confederation (CMIG), a pan-European movement for the Turkish diaspora.

But the CMIG is one of three Muslim confederations in France that have refused to sign a new anti-extremism charter championed by Macron.

Macron wants the groups to commit in writing to renouncing “political Islam” and to respecting French law, as he seeks to combat radical Islam which he sees as a threat to the country’s secular system.

Delusional. There is no “radical” Islam or any other variation. There is only one Islam, and that is the Islam of Muhammad, the Koran & the sunna. None of it is compatible with Western secular democracy.

Burma: mass- demonstrations against the regime

This is ugly. The regime killed 114 of their own people in a day!

Thousands of protesters took to the streets across Myanmar on Saturday, as the country’s ruling military celebrated the annual Armed Forces Day holiday with a parade in Yangon. Security forces killed dozens of protesters in what local media is saying was the deadliest day since the military coup that took place last month. An estimated 400 people have been killed since early February.

YANGON, Myanmar (AP) — As Myanmar’s military celebrated the annual Armed Forces Day holiday with a parade Saturday in the country’s capital, soldiers and police elsewhere killed scores of people while suppressing protests in the deadliest bloodletting since last month’s coup.

The online news site Myanmar Now reported late Saturday that the death toll had reached 114. A count issued by an independent researcher in Yangon who has been compiling near-real time death tolls put the total at 107, spread over more than two dozen cities and towns. That’s more than the previous high on March 14, which ranged from 74 to 90.

The killings quickly drew international condemnation, including a joint statement from the defense chiefs of 12 countries.

Ahmad Al Issa is white. Linda Sarsour and others insist that Arabs are “brown,” but that doesn’t make it so. In any case, Ilhan Omar means that only mass murderers who are not white non-Muslim Americans get attention, but reality is just the opposite: the political and media elites bend the truth about the motivations of white American killers (as in the Atlanta case) in order to buttress their false narrative about the threat of “right-wing extremism.” Meanwhile, as we see in the Boulder case, actual instances of Islamic jihad are downplayed, denied, or ignored outright, because they don’t fit the establishment narrative that Muslims are always and everywhere passive and innocent victims of “Islamophobia.”

There’s a concerning trend in the kids we’re locking up. For some, it’s clear evidence of racist policing.

While overall youth crime rates have declined in Victoria, the imprisonment of African-Australian youth has spiked.

African (predominantly South Sudanese) youth comprise at least 19 per cent of young people in custody despite being less than 0.5 per cent of Victoria’s youth population.

For years the ABC promoted the white Bruce Pascoe as an Aboriginal historian. But that stops tonight. Until now, the ABC – especially its Education unit — has promoted Pascoe as a “Yuin, Bunurong and Tasmanian man” or, for variety, a “Bunurong, Punniler panner and Yuin man”. But its Q&A has dropped all that in promoting Pascoe as one of panellists on Thursday’s show.

Q&A describes another panellist, journalist Stan Grant, as “a proud Wiradjuri man”, but gives Pascoe no ethnic descriptor.
.
It just says “Pascoe is the author of Dark Emu, which explores the history of Aboriginal agriculture and prompted a discussion about Australian history”.
.
Oh, and he is “also still a country A-grade cricketer”.
.
But is he still an Aborigine?
.
Pascoe publicly started identifying as Aboriginal after a Canberra Times reviewer in 1988 said his first book, Fox, was flawed by Pascoe being “a white man” trying to imagine a black one.
.
As an Aboriginal writer, Pascoe found success, winning the NSW Premier’s Prize for Indigenous writing for Dark Emu, which misquotes, exaggerates or invents evidence to claim Aborigines were actually “farmers”, living in “houses” in “towns” of “1000 people”.
.
His book became a bestseller, and the ABC promised to screen a two-part series last year starring this Aboriginal guru and his theories.
.
But the series still hasn’t come. There’s been some holdup.
And there’s been an embarrassment.
.
I’d reported last year there was no evidence Pascoe was Aboriginal, and very little that Aborigines were farmers.
.
Pascoe had at first claimed he was Aboriginal through one of his mother’s grandmothers, only to admit years later she was born in England.
.
Yet he and the ABC kept insisting he was Aboriginal, even though genealogical records showed all his ancestors were of English descent. (Pascoe refuses to explain why those records are wrong.)
.
Both the Boonwurrung (or Bunurong) Land and Sea Council and Aboriginal Land Council of Tasmania also denied Pascoe’s claims to be of their tribes.
.
ABC presenters still defended Pascoe — Patricia Karvelas, Jonathan Green, Virginia Trioli, Ellen Fanning, Wendy Harmer — but the ABC faced a dilemma.
Should it really risk its reputation by potentially promoting a fake Aborigine with a fake history?

Is Q&A the first sign the ABC has decided truth matters, after all?
And will it now say sorry for having been so wrong for so long?
