NYT Blog  Update:  Britain’s Channel 4 News aired a video report on Thursday night showing Taliban forces on the streets of the strategically important Pakistani town of Buner, just 70 miles from the country’s capital, Islamabad. As Carlotta Gall and Eric Schmidt explain in The Times, a near total lack of resistance from Pakistan’s military has allowed just “400 to 500 insurgents,” to seize control of the area.

Another week, another Donors’ Conference. This time, it’s Somalia. Somalia, described — does anyone know what this phrase that has come into fashion really means? — as a “failed state.” And these “failed states” — which all happen to be Muslim states — have to be propped up, and propped up, and propped up, it seems, by money from non-Muslim states, non-Muslim taxpayers. Because, you see, it is the absence of money that causes these states to be “failed states.” And any Muslim state will become a “failed state,” apparently, if it lacks the unmerited manna of oil-and-gas revenues (the Muslim members of OPEC have received more than twelve trillion dollars since 1973 alone), or if it is not given all kinds of special benefits and enormous injections of Infidel aid.

Regarding that aid, see Pakistan, see Egypt, see Jordan, and, of course, see the Favorite Charity of Everyone, apparently, the local Arab shock troops of the Lesser Jihad against Israel, the soi-disant “Palestinians” — who, as a separate people, were founded round about late 1967, a few months after the Six-Day War ended, and it was time to take a different propagandistic tack.

Back-to-back suicide bombings have killed 60 people outside the most important Shiite shrine in Baghdad, a day after the country was rocked by its most deadly violence in more than a year.

The bombings are the latest in a series of high-profile attacks blamed on Sunni insurgents, police officials said.

The latest bombers detonated explosive belts within minutes of each other near separate gates of the tomb of prominent Shiite saint Imam Mousa al-Kazim, located in the northern neighbourhood of Kazimiyah, said a police official.

Many of you have written to me saying I should ignore Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs and his relentless smear and libel campaign against me and others who are defending the freedom of speech and equality of rights of all people against the global jihad and Islamic supremacism.

It would be good to ignore him, but unfortunately, although his readership is plummeting, he still commands a sizable audience, and many people (who of course must not have been paying close attention) still think he is fighting against the jihadists — when in reality he is only engaging in relentless defamation of those he dislikes. And since that defamation spreads far and wide, it must be opposed.

Today he is once again attacking Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs, whom he clearly fears a great deal (inasmuch as she tells the truth about him), along with Paul Belien and me for being invited to speak at an anti-Islamization conference by the group Pro-Köln. Pro-Köln, he says, is a neo-Nazi group, and he has a photo of some guy who is not involved with Pro-Köln but is wearing a Hitler-style overcoat to prove it. And if Pamela, Paul and I are speaking there, well, we must be Nazis too, right?

The Pro Cologne citizens’ movement announces more prominent speakers to the anti-Islamisierungskongress of 8 to 10May in Cologne: From New York is the well-known conservative journalist Pamela Geller (photo with Robert Spencer) arriving from Denmark, the Wilders-confidante Lars Hedegaard and registered in Belgium, the chief of the Brussels Journal, Paul Belien. Still not quite sure is the participation of U.S. writer Robert Spencer.

Pamela Geller (USA)

The journalist/ blogger from Atlas Shrug from New York published comments of well-known conservative figures and islam critical reports.Geller was co-editor of the New York Observer and now writes for the Israel National News Arutz Sheva. Her blog is based on the novel “Atlas Shrugged” by Ayn Rand who is the most important philosopher in the history of mankind.

Lars Hedegaard (Denmark)

The Danish author Lars Hedegaard (photo next to Geert Wilders) has in 2008 together with the illustrator of the Mohammed caricatures Kurt Westergaard an Islamic critical book published in Denmark for a lot of attention, and consequently his well-respected daily column in the Danish newspaper Berlingske Tidende had to quit. The 67-year-old journalist is seen as a champion of freedom of expression and as a close confidant of Dutch Islam critic Geert Wilders.Hedegaard operates with www.sappho.dk one of the largest Danish blogs.

Paul Belien (Belgium)

The 50-year-old Flemish journalist Paul Belien(photo) is founder of the conservative website Brussels Journal, which is critical of Belgium and the EU interest. Belien points out that the task consisted of a journalist, freedom and a sincere search for the truth to defend. His critical attitude towards Muslim immigrants from North Africa brought him into disrepute.

Robert Spencer (USA)

The 47-year-old American writer and scholar of religion Robert Spencer is known to PI readers mainly through his website Jihad Watch, which deals with the violent Islamization of the West based on actual examples and addressing  critical comments. Spencer believes that Islam is due to its link with the life of Mohammed more prone to violence than other religions.The Jihad as a central duty of every Muslim is, whether as internal struggle with himself – or by the growing radicalization – an increasingly violent struggle against the infidels. Spencer makes no distinction between peaceful and violent Muslims because Islam  in itself is an intolerant and violent ideology in the guise of of religion.

Tony BLiar: “It is time to wrench ourselves out of a state of denial. There is one major factor in common. In each conflict there are those…who argue that they are fighting in the true name of Islam.”

Tony Blair is still dogmatically convinced that the Islamic jihadists are hijacking and twisting the true, peaceful Islam, and he shows no awareness of the classic theological and legal teachings that they can and do draw upon to justify their actions and make recruits among their fellow Muslims, but what he says here about the need to combat the ideology, and the ideological kinship among disparate jihad groups, is spot on.

Not that there aren’t other major problems with what he says here — see below.
