Cairns Candlelight Vigil: A Non-Event

6:30 pm, Cairns City-Place:

A bunch of middle-aged and elderly people showed up, up to 30 of them, some beards, some obese,  some with keffieh, mostly Aussie, one clean shaven guy (probably gay) who sported a “Free Palestine” T-shirt talking to a reporter who eagerly noted everything he said (a supporting pen-pal for the cause) 3 Arabs, (probably Lebanese) a sign saying “Give Peace a Chance” and a few others similar, but nothing threatening. Stuck on stoopid in the sixties. Useful idiots, all of them.

Strange however that these good people are virtually blind when it comes to Hamas shooting thousands of rockets into Israel, hitting hospitals, schools and kindergartens with intend to kill as many civilians as possible. I was going to ask the guy with the “Free Palestine” T-shit  what he meant by ‘freeing Palistan’, because Gaza is already Judenrein, did he mean to free Palistan from da Jews or did he want it free from Hamas terrorists? But then I decided it wasn’t worth it. Waste of time. I watched for about an hour before I left. Passers-by didn’t show any interest either. Cairns is -still- a good place to live…

“Peace” group supports Israel dissolution

The so-called “peace” activists at the Canterbury-Bankstown Peace Group have revealed their true colours – they advocate a solution for the Middle East that involves “dissolving” Israel.

The group made its views known at a “peace” rally in Sydney last night.

The group’s spokesman was asked why a “peace” group supported Hamas when it doesn’t recognise Israel’s right to exist.

The answer – “neither do we”.

When asked how this should be put into practice, the spokesman said that Israel should be “dissolved”.

That involved the naive view that Jews could live in a new, expanded Arab and Muslim-run Palestine.

The spokesman was unable to explain what sort of peace such a plan would bring to the Middle East.

Given the murderous attitude held towards Jews by the terrorist organisation Hamas, it would be highly likely that not long after the state of Israel was “dissolved”, its Jewish inhabitants would be “liquidated”.

Former Victorian police officer, now 4BC drive-time announcer, Michael Smith called for Muslim women who wear an Islamichijab in public to be fined for offensive behaviour. 

He made the remarks on-air and on the 4BC website, saying: “Any reasonable person would find this offensive.”  * Don’t we all? But don’t expect any sympathy from the moonbats at the Courier Mail who see the offense in Michael Smith’s exercising his right to free speech…

“Does revenge really, at the end of the day, solve anything? No,” he said.

“We forgive him for his lack of understanding, we pray that God almighty gives him the wisdom and the understanding to respect every other individual.”

Today everyone’s talking about a ceasefire in Gaza. With the UN proposing one and Israel demurring, the public, unaware of anything much about Gaza, Hamas, or Israel, blithely puts Israel in the dock. Yet during the last “ceasefire,” when rockets continued to land in Israeli civilian centers, there was a noticeable silence on the part of the international community. It seems it’s okay to drag Israel back from an attack on a massively financed and armed terrorist entity (and if Hamas isn’t a terrorist entity, it’s hard to know what it is), but just not right on to demand the same sort of action on the part of the terrorists. Don’t forget, Israel isn’t the only one refusing a ceasefire at this point: Hamas is rejecting one too, and for dishonest reasons.

There are things going on here that half the world just doesn’t get. All those clamoring for a ceasefire think all other parties understand the word just like they do. They’d be wrong. The secular Arabic press, such as the international newspaper al-Sharq al-Awsat, uses the standard Arabic term for a cessation of fire: waqf al-nar or waqf itlaq al-nar. That is a literal translation, and it means exactly what ceasefire means in English and other languages. But Hamas don’t talk about a cessation of fire, because that would be to introduce a term from the Western political vocabulary into their discourse, and they can’t do that.

Ten-year-old girls are ready for marriage, according to Saudi Arabia’s most senior cleric. 

Sheikh Abdul-Aziz Al Sheikh, the country’s grand mufti, told Al Hayat newspaper that those saying ten or 12-year-old girls are too young to marry are being ‘unfair’ to them.

Al Sheikh’s comments come at a time when Saudi human rights groups have been pushing the government to put an end to marriages involving the very young and to define a minimum age for marriage. 

In the past few months, Saudi newspapers have highlighted several cases in which young girls were married off to much older men or very young boys.

 by breaking into a private apartment to tear down an Israeli flag. 

Rolf Cebin, head of the police department in Duisburg, in western Germany, said, “the removal of the flags was — in hindsight — the wrong decision.”

“Given what I know today, I would have solved the problem in a different way, in order to avoid an escalation,” Cebin added.  (what ‘other way’ is he talking about?)

Berlin — A German police chief issued a formal apology on Tuesday after his officers tore down two Israeli flags during a recent protest against Israel’s incursion into Gaza.

Rolf Cebin, head of the police department in Duisburg, in western Germany, said, “the removal of the flags was — in hindsight — the wrong decision.” Officers entered the unoccupied apartment to remove the flags after demonstrators began pelting them.
