BOXER Anthony Mundine and league star Hazem El Masri have been fined for illegally beginning work to convert a Christian church into a mosque.

The pair were fined $600 and ordered to stop illegal work on the proposed Islamic prayer hall at Roselands, in Sydney’s south, after sections of the building were demolished without council approval.

Court: Muslim militants killed 17 police in attempt to sabotage Olympics

BEIJING – A Chinese court sentenced two people to death Wednesday for what it said was attempt to sabotage the Beijing Olympics with an attack in the far-west region of Xinjiang that killed 17 police days before the games.

The Xinhua News Agency said the sentences were handed down by the Kashgar Intermediate People’s Court. It did not give any other details. Calls to the court rang unanswered Wednesday.

UK: Next Commissioner – why not Captain Hook?

For some unfathomable reason, the Government has the notion that if it embraces Muslim extremists they’ll help us win the war on terror. 

Assorted headbangers are given lavish grants and seats on ‘anti-terrorism’ committees. Ministers have got it into their heads that if we put our arms around them and cross their palms with silver, they won’t blow us up. 

The rest of the world thinks we’re stark, staring bonkers. And not without reason. So it didn’t come as any surprise to learn that a man wanted by Interpol in connection with terrorist offences has been hired as an adviser to Scotland Yard. 

Mohammed Ali Harrath was convicted in Tunisia of numerous criminal and terrorism offences and sentenced in his absence to 56 years in prison. 

Interpol has him subject to a ‘red notice’ (the highest level of alert) and is urging all countries, including Britain, to arrest and deport him. 

Yet in addition to advising the Yard on ‘best practice’ in combating terrorism, he also runs his own TV station, which pumps out Islamist propaganda to 1.6 million viewers in this country. 

With the race to succeed Ian Blair at the Met in disarray, why not just spring Captain Hook from Belmarsh and make him commissioner.

NSW Premier Nathan Rees says he wants to appeal against the reduction in the sentences given to brothers Bilal and Mohammed Skaf over the gang rape of a teenage girl.

“I’m just off the phone to the acting Attorney-General [Verity Firth] to see if we can appeal that decision, and if we can, we will,” he told reporters.

“This is exactly the sort of decision by the judiciary that gives rise to claims in the community that the judiciary is out of touch,” Mr Rees said.
