An EU migrant facing 542 criminal investigations – including robbery and drugs offences – cannot be deported because authorities don’t know where he came from.

The man, who arrived in Germany in 1998 without a passport, has allegedly been using legal loopholes to remain in the country.

After being was arrested by German police, he claimed to be from North African countries including Algeria and Morocco.

But authorities do not know the man’s name or where he travelled from. A fingerprint search showed no matches.

The migrant, thought to be 59 years old, reportedly lives on the streets of Frankfurt and has 542 investigation proceedings against him.

The attacker has a history of radicalization, and shouted “Allahu Akhbar” while stabbing his victims. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack. However, two of the victims were the attacker’s mother and sister, so the incident seems to be one of domestic violence. The police refer to it as “mixed profile”.

Germany migrants: Merkel condemns ‘vigilantes’ after Chemnitz murder

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said “vigilante justice” will not be tolerated after far-right unrest over a murder in the eastern city of Chemnitz.

Scuffles have broken out during two days of protests by hundreds of people in the city centre since a German was stabbed to death early on Sunday.

A Syrian man and an Iraqi man have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A far-right football fan group called Kaotic Chemnitz had earlier called out supporters to show “who is in charge”, while protesters on Sunday could be seen chanting “We are the people!” and “This is our city!”.

The reclusive Muslim sect building an illegal bush compound north of Sydney has been ordered to knock down every building on the site and not use it for religious worship.

The Diwan Al Dawla guild has previously said it will not obey Australia law and indicated it would refuse to abide by any court rulings over its religious retreat at Colo.

The Land and Environment Court found on Monday the sect had undertaken land clearing and earthworks in breach of planning laws and had built structures without approval.

The guild’s founder, Dr Mustapha Kara-Ali, has previously refused Hawkesbury City Council officers access to the land, stating they are ‘Cruasaders’ and an affront to Islam.

More than two dozen people aboard a Vietnamese fishing vessel that sank at the mouth of the Daintree River, in north Queensland, are being hunted by authorities in the world famous rainforest.

North Queensland police have confirmed that a search is underway to track down the suspected illegal immigrants who waded through croc-infested waters after the vessel sunk earlier today.

Eleven people have been detained, with up to thirty more still on the run. One person has identified himself as a Vietnamese taxi driver, with others refusing so far to disclose their identities.

A spokesman for the department of Home Affairs issued a statement just before 7pm, saying 11 people had now been detained.

Australian Border Force and Queensland Police Service officers are still conducting a manhunt of the rainforest.

“The ABF is currently responding to what we believe to be an illegal fishing vessel in the vicinity of Daintree River,’’ the spokesman said in a statement.

“The ABF now has a contingent of officers on site and is grateful for the support provided by Queensland Police Service.

“We can confirm that 11 people have been located.

“The first priority is to confirm the safety and welfare of the people on the fishing vessel.’’

Salvini Threatens To Take Rescued Migrants Back To Libya

“Threatening” is not nearly enough. He must put them on the next available ship and sent them off.

Italian populist Interior Minister Matteo Salvini has threatened to start returning migrants back to Libya if other European Union countries do not start taking in rescued migrants.

Salvini’s comments came after 190 migrants were rescued by the Italian coastguard near Malta last Thursday with 13 migrants being taken to Lampedusa for emergency medical treatment while the rest were taken in by Malta. When the Italians attempted to return the 13 migrants following their treatment, the Maltese government refused to allow them entry Der Spiegel reports.

So far only one vessel, the Asso 28, has taken migrants back to Libya after rescuing them. In July the vessel rescued 108 migrants off the Libyan coast and worked with the Libyan coastguard, subsequently receiving a tirade of criticism from migrant rescue NGOs and others who claim Libya is not a safe country for migrants to return to. A spokesman for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Wednesday the American response to the detention of Pastor Andrew Brunson is an “unacceptable” attempt to interfere with the Turkish legal system.

“There is rule of law in Turkey and the Andrew Brunson case is a legal issue. There is an ongoing legal process related to this individual. It goes without saying that we find unacceptable the disregard of the legal process by the United States, which has been making certain demands,” Erdogan spokesman Ibrahim Kalin told Reuters.

Kalin said statements such as U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton’s warning that Turkey made a “big mistake” by holding Brunson were “arbitrary” threats and demands.

“A real NATO ally wouldn’t have arrested Brunson in the first place,” a White House official pointed out on Friday, possibly inspiring the Erdogan spokesman’s reciprocal rant about how U.S. sanctions against Turkey violate the principles of NATO.

The Italian government is threatening to withhold €20 billion in payments to the EU if other European countries don’t agree to take in some of the latest batch of migrants waiting off the Italian coast. Meanwhile, Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini says that no migrants will be allowed into Italy without his say-so.

Many practicing Catholics prefer the immigration policies of Italian Minister Matteo Salvini to those of Pope Francis, according to a series of recent polls.

The German daily Die Welt reported last week that Matteo Salvini is becoming the secret leader of Catholics in Italy because of his firm line on migration, while fewer and fewer Catholics support Pope Francis’ call for greater openness to migrants.

Luca Comodo, the director of the Ipsos research institute, said recently that according to surveys “at this time, there is a clear distance between a significant part of Catholic opinion and the hierarchy of the Church.”

Among the faithful who attend Mass at least once a week, approximately one third of all Italians, support for Salvini has doubled in four months, from 15.7 percent in March to 31.8 percent in July, Ipsos found.

At the same time, Pope Francis has been steadily declining in popularity among the Italians. At the outset of his pontificate in 2013, the pontiff enjoyed an approval rating of 96 percent among weekly Mass-goers and 91 percent among Catholics who attended Mass only periodically.
