Trump Launches WW3 With Strikes In Syria

US President Donald Trump has authorised strikes against chemical weapons facilities in Syria in a joint operation with the UK and France. In a televised address from the White House, Mr Trump said: ‘ A short time ago, I ordered the United States Armed Forces to launch precision strikes on targets associated with the chemical weapons capabilities of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad.’

1. Is it certain that Assad’s regime really used the chemical weapons? There is so much manufacture of atrocities in that region, it cannot be taken for granted that he has, especially since there is no clear benefit to him in doing so.

2. What is the endgame? The removal of Assad? No doubt Assad is a scoundrel, but what replaces him is likely to be worse.

3. Is it certain that the strikes will actually reduce the production of chemical weapons and end their use?

4. Every U.S. intervention in the Middle East has been disastrous, as they were based on false assumptions. Will this one be different?

A female Islamic extremist  devout Muslim woman has been caught by police in possession of a USB key that contained the identities of 2,626 intelligence officials from France’s Central Directorate of Interior Intelligence (DCRI).

The woman, identified as Mina B., was already known to the country’s intelligence services and had been placed on the terror watch list known in France as the S-File, Le Point reports.

Belgium’s People’s Party (PP) has announced it is tabling a bill before parliament to prohibit all associations demanding the application of “sharia law” in Belgium.

Statements by the leader of the Islam party in the press recently have shaken the political world in Belgium.

The PP proposal targets all associations which promote or recommend the application of “sharia law” in Belgium. The text also wishes to prohibit all associations or individuals teaching Islam in Belgium from receiving a donation of more than €250, unless the donor agrees beforehand. The document is not targeting any other religion or political movement.

The PP only has one deputy in parliament.

Yassmin Abdel-Magied refused entry to the US by immigration officials

Muslim activist Yassmin Abdel-Magied has been refused entry to the United States this morning by immigration officials and put back on a plane.

Ms Abdel-Magied, who was travelling to the US for a series of speaking engagements, used social media this morning to reveal she had been detained in Minneapolis.

RIYADH (Reuters) – Europe must do more to assimilate Muslim immigrant populations and criminalise religious hate speech, said the head of a global Muslim missionary society trying to help Saudi Arabia mend its reputation as a promoter of intolerant ideology.

The Muslim World League (MWL) and the kingdom itself have been accused for decades of spreading the strict Wahhabi strain of Islam, often criticised as the philosophical basis for radical Islamist militancy worldwide.

Recent gestures of interfaith tolerance follow Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s promise to promote a more moderate form of Islam, and his warning that extremists’ main aim is to radicalise Muslim communities in Europe.

Critics say the mosques and Islamic centres around the world controlled by the MWL promote intolerance and hatred of some religions and Muslim sects — a charge the group denies.

Secretary-General Mohammed al-Issa said the organisation, headquartered in Mecca, could assist in assimilation and the eradication of extremist ideology abroad.

“We believe that European countries, where there is much debate now, and other countries around the world … need to enhance national assimilation programmes and criminalise hatred and contempt for adherents of religions because this threatens the safety of the community,” he told Reuters in an interview.

“The League has programmes and curricula that enhance national assimilation and which can courageously and forcefully confront all forms of extremism, as well as special programmes to thwart efforts to infiltrate the Muslim community.”

He would not elaborate on specific measures.

Saudi Arabia last month ceded control of Brussels’ Grand Mosque, previously run by the MWL, to local authorities over concerns that it promoted radicalism.

Prince Mohammed has traced some of the kingdom’s most restrictive practices to 1979, the year of the Shi’ite Muslim revolution in Iran and an attack on Mecca’s Grand Mosque by Sunni extremists.
