When Trump withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal on Wednesday, European companies were faced with a stark choice. Do they continue doing business in Iran and risk being prohibited from doing business with the United States and with any bank who does business with the United States? Or do they pull out of Iran? The answer to that question will become more clear in the next few weeks as Steve Mnuchin and the green eyeshades guys in Treasury begin to reimpose pre-2015 sanctions (I have to say, Mnuchin is the first Treasury Secretary I’ve seen who seems positively gleeful about slapping malefactors with sanctions, I hope it becomes a tradition).

The communications director of the Catholic Diocese of Maiduguri in Nigeria has confirmed that a bride-to-be and her bridal party were beheaded December 26 while en route to the December 31 wedding.

“They were beheaded by suspected Boko Haram insurgents at Gwoza on their way to her country home,” Father Francis Arinse told Catholic News Service (CNS), regarding the alleged murders of Martha Bulus and her bridal party.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo expressed his “sincere condolences” on Tuesday to Uygur individuals whose activism – including meetings with US officials – has reportedly led to reprisals against their relatives in China.

The US government was “deeply troubled” by accounts that the Chinese government had “harassed, imprisoned or arbitrarily detained” Uygur Muslim activists and survivors of Xinjiang internment camps who had made their stories public, Pompeo, Washington’s top diplomat, said in a statement.

The United Nations estimates that around one million Uygurs and people from other largely Muslim minority groups have been swept up in China’s mass internment programme in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

Beijing calls the camps vocational training centres, a claim that has jarred with the testimonies of former detainees and even regional authorities’ own documents, which refer to coercive internment and political indoctrination.

Since the mass internment programme began in early 2017, relatives of those believed to have been detained have found themselves caught between the desire to campaign for their family members and the concern that doing so could compound their predicament.

Islamic organizations say they are “thrilled” about nearly 40 state governors, including 17 Republicans, approving more refugee resettlement for their states thus far.

For fiscal year 2020, President Donald Trump will continue cutting refugee admissions by reducing former President Barack Obama’s refugee inflow by at least 80 percent. This reduction would mean a maximum of 18,000 refugees can be resettled in the U.S. between October 1, 2019, and September 30, 2020. This is merely a numerical limit and not a goal federal officials are supposed to reach.

IRGC Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani and Iraqi militia commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, along with at least 10 other people, were killed in an attack by US forces in Baghdad on Friday morning Israel time, according to reports confirmed by the Pentagon and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corp (IRGC).

In a statement, the Pentagon said that the US killed Soleimani and al-Muhandis in an airstrike inside Baghdad International Airport.

Indonesia is descending into the pit of Islamization, and this is now evident on its campuses:

Walking through Indonesian college campuses today, it’s easy to spot the young women clad head-to-toe in black amongst the sea of students wearing jeans and brightly colored batik. These women in black, along with many of their male classmates, have recently “hijrahed.” In Arabic, the word hijrah literally means, “to migrate or emigrate,” and is traditionally used to describe the Prophet Muhammad’s migration from Mecca to Medina. In Indonesia, the term has come to encompass a variety of movements and ideologies in which nominal Muslims are “born again,” and begin to seriously study religion.”

There are other signals pointing to the Islamization of the country. Indonesia deployed 200,000 police to protect Christmas celebrations from Islamic jihad massacres, and on the island of West Sumatra, Christians were banned from Christmas home celebrations.

U.S. military forces have reportedly killed two top Iranian military commanders involved in terrorism on Thursday night in Iraq in an airstrike in what analysts said was a significantly bigger deal than the killing of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Iranian Major-General Qassem Soleimani, head of the Quds Force, and Iraqi militia commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were the two Iranian military leaders who were killed.
