FIVE Sydney men have been found guilty of terrorism offences after one of the longest criminal trials in Australian history.

Mohamed Ali Elomar, 44, Khaled Cheikho, 36, his nephew Moustafa Cheikho, 32, Abdul Rakib Hasan, 40, and Mohammed Omar Jamal, 25, were today convicted of doing an act in preparation for a terrorist act…

And it can now be revealed that Mirshad Mulahalilovic, 33, and Khaled Sharrouf, 28, pleaded guilty last year to various terrorism offences before they were due to stand trial with their five co-accused and were sentenced to jail terms…

Philip Ruddock predicts flood of 10,000 "boatpeople"

KRudd sez he has “no credibility”

What puzzles me is how this empty suit denies his responsibility  for the  Mohammedan invasion and launches ad hominem attacks on Philip  Ruddock instead. Is he totally detached from reality or is this the beginning of his undoing? And Turnbull, supposedly leader of the opposition, is nowhere to be seen or heard.

The boats are back

The navy has intercepted another boatload of suspected asylum seekers off Australia’s north-west coastline. Home Affairs Minister Brendan O’Connor said the boat was carrying about 56 passengers including two young children and two crew.

It was intercepted on Monday afternoon north-west of Ashmore Reef.

That’s another 360 people in seven boats in just three weeks. The full list of arrivals here. Already this is the fourth biggest yearly intake of boat people since 1976.

We’ve now had 1648 illegal boat people land this year – or 10 times the number last year – at an estimated cost of $65 million. At least 25 have died trying to get here.  As I said just yesterday, every new boat now becomes an issue for this Government, which controversially softened the laws against boat people last year.

Correction: at long last, Malcolm Turnbull, leader of the opposition shows a sign of life:

What we have to do now is recognise that (Rudd’s) policies have failed and have a thorough independent inquiry to assess what can be done to protect our borders once again…

As Coalition figures lined up yesterday to take advantage of the surge in boatpeople, West Australian Premier Colin Barnett slammed the decision to grant asylum to 42 Afghan men whose boat blew up following an act of sabotage.

AN INDIAN student employed by Foxtel as a salesman allegedly raped a nine-year-old girl at her home last week, a court has heard. Mujahed Ur-Rahman, 28, worked as a door-to-door salesman for the pay TV company and last Wednesday approached the owner of a Noble Park home to buy the service.

The Melbourne Magistrates Court heard yesterday that when she declined and Ur-Rahman left, her two children, eight and nine, went outside to the front yard, where he is alleged to have digitally raped the girl in front of her brother. Ur-Rahman was remanded for a committal mention in January.

So the father of Al-Shabaab jihadist Abu Mansour Al-Amriki (aka Omar Hammadi), who we recently learned was raised in Mobile, Alabama gave an interview with WKRG-TV this week where he blamed US foreign policy on Somalia for his son’s decision to get into the terrorism bizness.

But since Shafik Hammami is one of the primary leaders of the Islamic community in Mobile, his real purpose was to assure everyone that his son’s radicalization didn’t occur in Mobile, which is the first point he makes in the video below. His son was just magically translated to Somalia by the beneficence of Allah and was radicalized there in response to US foreign policy. Whatever.

    Is FGM culturally sensitive?  Of course it is; who are we to judge! We live in an advanced multicultural environment where all cultures are equal and must be equally respected, and after all, for these women FGM is just a rite of passage. We should encourage them to stick to their tribal cults and cultures and besides, although its “the sunnah of the prophet” it has absolutely nothing to do with Islam. (Can’t blame the religion of 1.5 gazillion peaceful, law-abiding Muslims for the acts of a few extremists, Islam is  not a monolith, can’t tar them all with……blah blah….)

    A REPORT which advocated “cultural sensitivity” when dealing with refugees who subject their daughters to genital mutilation has drawn angry criticism.

    UniSA child protection expert Professor Freda Briggs has criticised the views of departmental officials in the report, saying the practice is illegal torture and the perpetrators should be charged immediately by police, without any sensitivity.

    The report, carried out by other UniSA child protection experts and commissioned by the Department of Families and Communities, found a number of child abuse workers identified “excessive physical discipline” and “female genital mutilation” which required “sensitive responses from Families SA when dealing with these issues”.

    How many boats containing claimed “asylum seekers” have been intercepted off Australia’s coast since Kevin Rudd’s government went all vegetarian on border protection? Five? Ten? Fifteen? Twenty? Twenty-five?

    Try thirty. And that’s in just 13 months. It’s as though the government is running some kind of people-smuggling stimulus operation.

(Good ol’Keysar is the guy who called white Australians the “criminal dregs of white society” and promotes polygamy along with “out of context” and catmeat apologies for muftibastard Hilali/ed)

    ‘It does give the impression that we are a solely Christian nation and it raises the issue of other religions too, whether you are Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim,’ he said. ‘There are only two Muslim public holidays, so it’s not a lot to ask.’ (Keysar, being on the dole, has holidays all year round thanks to infidel generosity. But that’s just not good enough. He doesn’t give a rats ass about Hinduism or Buddhism either, what he wants is Islam, nothing but Islam.  For Keysar and his ilk, there is never enough of that…/ed )

    A spokesman for the New South Wales state government said that although the proposed holidays were Christian-oriented, the new law was not about religion but ‘about allowing workers to spend time with their families.’

    In case people were wondering if Sydney had ‘gone quiet’ and there would be no more Islamic style raids, be assured it is business as usual. The Middle Eastern Squad were doing their duty and went to check on caches of arms in the predominantly Muslim populated Sydney suburb of Auburn last night [8/9/09]. Naturally they found an assortment of guns and drugs in the four homes they searched on Cumberland Road Auburn. However, one the residents of the houses did not like the arm of the law being extended to his ‘lifestyle choice’ and punched a police officer in the face. Then the Middle Eastern residents of the houses called on their Middle Eastern mates to come in large numbers to the street and so too did the police call on large numbers. Huge crowds gathered and there was a ‘more than Mexican’ standoff with the crowds of Middle Eastern citizens facing down members of the police.

    Even the Australian is trying to play down the seriousness of this challenge to the authority of the police by suggesting that good sense prevailed in the end:

    A police spokeswoman estimated the crowd at about 150 people but said there was no violence. “There was no riot, it was just a large number of people gathering,” she said. Additional resources were dispatched, including officers from the Public Order and Riot Squad, and the PolAir helicopter. Police managed to disperse the crowd without making any arrests. (source)

    Australia: No Visas Necessary for Afghan Asylum Seekers

    THE Rudd government last night moved to overturn John Howard’s controversial policy of processing all asylum-seekers off-shore, allowing a group of detained Afghan youths to leave Christmas Island and arrive on mainland Australia without visas.

    fuck-off-we-are-fullIn an unprecedented move that coincided with the arrival of yet another boat of asylum-seekers at the Indian Ocean territory last night, the 10 boys boarded a chartered Qantas jet carrying 56 newly recognised Afghan refugees from the island to Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne.

    The move, confirmed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship last night, was welcomed by the Refugee and Immigration Legal Centre as a “substantial departure from the previous policy of condemning everyone including children to detention on Christmas Island”.

    The flight departed Christmas Island, which was excised from Australia’s migration zone in 2003 by the Howard government, just hours before a further 52 asylum-seekers and three crew landed on the island after being intercepted by HMAS Ararat near Ashmore Reef on Saturday.

    There are now 665 people in immigration detention on Christmas Island; 571 of them are single men being kept at the Howard government’s $400 million immigration detention centre on the island’s northwest point; 62 are living in a converted construction workers’ compound; and 32 are in houses on the island in what is termed “community detention”.
