Will Naomi Wolf fight female genital mutilation?

2nd Update:

Female Genital Mutilation, Islam and Leftist Complicity /(FrontPage Magazine)
“Within the context of Islamic FGM, the barbarity is kept alive and legitimized by Islamic theology.”

As our readers will be familiar, Wolf went on a political pilgrimage to Morocco, Jordan, and Egypt and found a “thriving sexuality behind the veil.”

Obviously Wolf was not at all concerned about what state women’s vaginas were in within the sexual paradises that she visited and praised, seeing that the barbaric crime of female genital mutilation is perpetrated with high frequency in the areas she visited.  Read more from JW

How much female genital mutilation is okay?

“Lets do it for them here so they don’t have to go back to the home country” doesn’t cut the mustard. We can’t allow this, period. Not a nick and not a cut. But here’s an article which tries to “balance pro’s and con’s.” What could be more important? Spero News

Australia: Female Genital Mutilation is "Culturally Sensitive"

MILES KEMP/Adelaide Now

20070323GermanMulticultiCannibalOh, it’s a custom from the old country?! Why didn’t you say so!

Is FGM culturally sensitive?  Of course it is; who are we to judge! We live in an advanced multicultural environment where all cultures are equal and must be equally respected, and after all, for these women FGM is just a rite of passage. We should encourage them to stick to their tribal cults and cultures and besides, although its “the sunnah of the prophet” it has absolutely nothing to do with Islam. (Can’t blame the religion of 1.5 gazillion peaceful, law-abiding Muslims for the acts of a few extremists, Islam is  not a monolith, can’t tar them all with……blah blah….)

A REPORT which advocated “cultural sensitivity” when dealing with refugees who subject their daughters to genital mutilation has drawn angry criticism.

UniSA child protection expert Professor Freda Briggs has criticised the views of departmental officials in the report, saying the practice is illegal torture and the perpetrators should be charged immediately by police, without any sensitivity.

The report, carried out by other UniSA child protection experts and commissioned by the Department of Families and Communities, found a number of child abuse workers identified “excessive physical discipline” and “female genital mutilation” which required “sensitive responses from Families SA when dealing with these issues”.

IS FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION “CULTURALLY SENSITIVE”?  Might be an idea for the next WoJ poll….

Egypt pretends to do something about FGM

Egypt arrests man for FGM

Elder if Zion

From Al-Arabiya:

An Egyptian man has been charged with illegally circumcising a young girl on Thursday, making him the first person to face the law since Cairo criminalized the controversial practice of female genital mutilation, or FGM.

Ahmed Gad al-Karim, 69, was charged with inflicting injury on an 11-year-old girl after a local hospital notified the police when the young girl was brought in suffering from heavy bleeding following a circumcision.

The Upper Egyptian governorate of Minya, 600 kilometers south of Cairo, was told that the girl’s mother gave Karim 150 Egyptian Pounds ($ 27) to circumcise her daughter, who remains in critical condition.

Karim’s arrest is the first since Egypt passed law number 126 in 2008, which criminalizes FGM due to the physical and psychological damages it inflicts on the victims.

In 2008, the law was met with objections by the Muslim Brotherhood and independent MPs, who argued that female circumcision is part of the Shariah law as it protects a woman’s chastity.

But Dar al-Iftaa, the government institution in charge of issuing religious edicts for contemporary issues, ruled that circumcision is not part of Islam and is a cultural practice.

The good news is that there was an arrest.

The bad news is that it appears Egypt has no interest in enforcing the law, as the only reason there was an arrest in this case – a year after the law passed – is because the poor girl was almost killed.

Female genital mutilation “is part of the Sunna of the Prophet”

Mohammed, I seriously doubt that any women would chose to have her clitoris cut out, that’s why they do it to toddlers.

Once its gone, there is no choice anymore, nobody is gonna give it back, or is there?

Europe’s Helping Hand To Female Genital Mutilation

Video on FGM in Islamic communities

This is good but brace yourselves. I like how black women activists, what we used to call ‘feminists’, meaning they fought for rational rights for women, like the right not to have all your sexual equipment removed for example, are being told that banning this practice is ‘neocolonialist’ and they have to fight the moronic left who pretend to be on the side of the oppressed by not stopping them from being mutilated in the genitals.

Kafka, did you ever think things could go this far?

Female Genital Mutilation, Update

* Regular Winds of Jihad readers are well aware that  our post “Female genital mutilation is part of the Sunna of the Prophet”- has attracted thousands  of readers, many, if not most of them Muslims, who are clueless about the teachings of the the Koran and the sunnah, the sayings of traditions of the meshugga prophet pretender Muhammad.  Here is an update:

Saving Girls From Mutilation:

European activist Ines Laufer discusses how migrant girls in Europe are defenselessly delivered to Female Genital Mutilation.

Frontpage Interview’s guest is Ines Laufer, founder of the Task Force for Effective Prevention of Female Genital Mutilation, a network of Human-Rights-organisations and activists that is committed to measurable, broad prevention of genital mutilation among migrant girls in the EU. With the Task Force’s prevention-programme, for the first time true protection of minor girls from this violence comes into reach.

Thousands of girls in Britain have suffered genital mutilation

* Why should it be different in other places? Don’t we know for a fact that it happens wherever Muslims settle behind -in their perception- enemy lines, in the dar-ul-harb?

Circumcision is “obligatory” for “both men and women” — so says a legal manual of the Shafi’i school of Islamic jurisprudence, ‘Umdat al-Salik (e4.3). This school is dominant in Egypt, where 97% of women have suffered genital mutilation. The Hanbali school teaches, in contrast, that female genital mutilation is not obligatory, while noting that it is accepted Islamic practice; the Hanafi school calls it “a mere courtesy to the husband.”

In any case, the Islamic justifications given for the practice enable it to continue. Yet in the West it is considered “Islamophobic” to mention these Islamic justifications. However, the longer they are ignored, the more girls will be mutilated in Britain and the West in general. Calling this an African custom, as this article does, is a misdiagnosis, and like all misdiagnoses it will contribute nothing toward a cure.

… and it makes them cum faster too!!

Anis Motiwala Says:

“Islam supports female circumcision strictly to the extent of removing the prepuce NOT to reduce libido, on the contrary TO ENHANCE pleasure and HASTEN ORGASM. This is yet another gift Islam gave to women like many others during Europe’s Dark Ages.”
* By that measure Europes ‘dark ages’ were brighter than the Musulmanic “Golden Ages” – don’t you think?

Female Genital Mutilation: Every Muslimah's Entry Ticket To The Civilized World? Hell No!

U.S. grants asylum to Malian victim of female genital mutilation

The Attorney General has accomplished a very worthwhile task here in raising the issue of female genital mutilation in the mainstream media, as many in the United States likely don’t even know the practice exists, let alone that it is so widespread. Mukasey himself probably doesn’t know it is considered obligatory in the Shafi’i school of Islamic jurisprudence (cf. Umdat al-Salik e4.3), and justified with references to ahadith.

But there is much more Western countries could be doing to eradicate this practice, from speaking out against it more frequently to tying aid to meaningful and verifiable steps in outlawing the practice and punishing the perpetrators. And above all, no sense of “cultural sensitivity” should stop them from making every effort to keep immigrants from those countries from continuing the practice in the West.

“AG: Don’t deport genital mutilation victim,” by Terry Frieden for CNN  via DW

 * Ignore it.  What you really need to know  is this:

But if every such “victim of female genital mutilation” or of any other practice that is encouraged by Islam were to be given such asylum, this country would sink under the weight of immigrants who will not have left Islam at the door, even if they have suffered from it. Look at those who leave Muslim lands because of the despotism and economic backwardness, both of them attributable to Islam, but these people bring their Islam with them, and make life, as a result, very difficult, and ultimately represent a permanent danger to the continued existence of our legal and political institutions of our own country, for the Sharia flatly contradicts the spirit and letter of the American Constitution. And even now, with relatively small numbers, they show every sign of aggressively using the power they do have, in the numbers they do have, to persuade or intimidate the Infidels among whom they have come to live into not discussing or finding out about Islam or disseminating what they have found out about it to other Infidels.

Sentimentalism, of the wrong kind, cannot justify this kind of immigration policy. Spend the time better ridiculing, mocking, attacking the policy of FGM (as it is now so conveniently referred to), and those nations that practice it. The Infidel Man’s Burden is getting heavier and heavier, and we just have to lighten the load.

“Reduce the size of the clitoris but do not exceed the limit, for that is better for her health and is preferred by husbands”

* Like ‘there is no compulsion in religion’ (except when there is) the horrific and insane practice of female genital mutilation continues, despite the lies and denial to the contrary and the recent fatwa by sheik Gomaa from Al Azhar university in Cairo, a hotbed of Islamofascist indoctrination. Sheik Gomaa became world famous by declaring that ‘drinking the prophets urine cured the believers…’

* Here is the ‘legal Islamic ruling’ from ‘Islam Online’

The eminent Muslim scholar, Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, states:

Actually, this is a controversial issue among jurists and even among doctors. It has sparked off fierce debate in Egypt whereby scholars and doctors are split into proponents and opponents.

However, the most moderate opinion and the most likely one to be correct is in favor of practicing circumcision in the moderate Islamic way indicated in some of the Prophet’s hadiths – even though such hadiths are not confirmed to be authentic. It is reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to a midwife: “Reduce the size of the clitoris but do not exceed the limit, for that is better for her health and is preferred by husbands”. The hadith indicates that circumcision is better for a woman’s health and it enhances her conjugal relation with her husband. It’s noteworthy that the Prophet’s saying “do not exceed the limit” means do not totally remove the clitoris.

Because of the above, the practice continues. Quite obviously, there are are many who ‘exceed the limits’- as we can see here:

Egyptian girl dies during female circumcision

Karima Rahim Massud died as the result of problems with the anasthaesia in the Nile Delta village of Gharbiya. Her death was discovered after her father sought a death certificate from another doctor.

The medical practice where the operation took place has been closed, and the doctor is being interrogated, the newspaper said.

Female genital mutilation, also known as female circumcision, is a practice that dates back to pharaonic times in Egypt. It is common in a band that stretches from Senegal in West Africa to Somalia on the east coast, and from Egypt in the north to Tanzania in the south.

The practice, which affects both Muslim and Christian women in Egypt, was banned in 1997 but doctors were allowed to operate “in exceptional cases.”

Female circumcision can cause death through haemorraging and later complications during childbirth. It also carries risks of infection, urinary tract problems and mental trauma.

In June, following the death of 12-year-old Bedur Ahmed Shaker, Health Minister Hatem al-Gabali issued a decree banning every doctor and member of the medical profession from performing the procedure.

The ban must still be translated into law and could face a tough debate in parliament, but is likely to be passed.

A government survey in 2000 said the practice was carried out on 97 percent of the country’s women aged between 15 and 45 years of age.

Religious leaders, usually silent on taboos relating to female sexuality, have also started to speak out against the practice, which many Egyptians believe is a duty under Islam and Christianity.

After the death of Shaker, chief mufti Ali Gomaa declared female circumcision forbidden under Islam.

Mohammed Sayyed Tantawi, the sheikh of Al-Azhar university, the top Sunni Muslim authority, and Coptic Patriarch Chenouda III also declared it had “no foundation in the religious texts” of either Islam or Christianity.

Tantawi is lying:

Tantawi doesn’t   mention the fact that his own Shafi’i school of Islamic jurisprudence has traditionally viewed female genital mutilation as “obligatory” (cf. ‘Umdat al-Salik e4.3) — which is one key reason why it is so widely practiced in Egypt.
