CIC Sock puppet sues Ezra Levant for being shunned

Awan’s jihad: lawfare

As some readers may recall, Khurrum Awan was the chief sock puppet for the Canadian Islamic Congress in their long attempt to criminalize my writing north of the border. Having lost out on all three suits, Awan is now suing my valiant comrade in the battle to restore free speech, Ezra Levant, on the curious grounds that, since Ezra began writing about him, he “has been shunned by his former friends.” I’m not sure that’s actionable even in Canada.

Ezra here with Pamela Geller

As Phyllis Chesler notes, Awan’s suit is part of the same assault on liberty as the Geert Wilders prosecution in Amsterdam. The point of “legal jihad” in the Western world is to make the price of discussing Islam in any meaningful sense too high. As Awan boastedto the Canadian Arab News, even though he struck out in three different jurisdictions, he cost me and my publishers 2 million bucks, and thereby “attained out strategic objective — to increase the cost of publishing anti-Islamic material.” (Under the Canadian “human rights” regime, the loser does not pay costs, so there is no downside to nuisance suits.)

Still, it’s odd to see Mr Awan suing because he has no friends. After all, he used to brag that he had successfully marginalized me and Ezra as Islamophobe haters beyond the Canadian pale. Turns out he marginalized himself.

I was able to offset my legal expenses with the profits from my Christmas single, but for some reason Ezra is reluctant to venture into this lucrative territory. So, if you can do anything to toss a couple bucks (U.S. or Canadian) or even a Euro his way, please do(scroll down). It is important that the Islamists’ “strategic objective” of putting this topic beyond the price range of nervous publishers be resisted on every front. It’s expensive, and it’s thankless work, but it is necessary to defeat the likes of Awan, and to show to the world that they have been defeated — or the lamps of liberty will be extinguished one by one.

Steyn: Dutch court "is explicitly attempting to criminalize the political opinions of a large swath of the Dutch electorate"

Wilders to be tried for hate speech

Handelsblad for once  does not smear Wilders with the “right wing” epithet which the MSM so obligingly uses to please the far left and their Mohammedan masters.

Mark Steyn on the imminent prosecution of Geert Wilders in the Netherlands (thanks to the peerless Kathy Shaidle) via Jihad Watch

…in the Netherlands and other European countries, the political elite understands that there are frictions between an ever more assertive Muslim population and an ever more resentful “native” working class, but that, with the usual careless confidence of Big Government, it had concluded that the answer to this problem was to police and constrain public discourse within ever narrower bounds. (…)And, although Mr. Wilders is invariably described as “far right,” how “far” he is depends on where you’re standing: A poll last month found his party tied for first place in Dutch affections.

In other words, this court is explicitly attempting to criminalize the political opinions of a large swath of the Dutch electorate.

Mark Steyn: But We’re Still Gonna Kill You

Isolated extremists? This “war” is about the intersection of Islam and the West.

By Mark Steyn

Not long after the Ayatollah Khomeini announced his fatwa against Salman Rushdie, the British novelist suddenly turned up on a Muslim radio station in West London late one night and told his interviewer hed converted to Islam. Marvelous religion, couldnt be happier, Allahu Akbar and all that.

And the Ayatollah said hey, that’s terrific news, glad to hear it. But were still gonna kill you.

Well, even a leftie novelist wises up under those circumstances.

Evidently, the president of the United States takes a little longer. Barack Obama has spent the last year doing bigtime Islamoschmoozing, from his announcement of Gitmo’s closure and his investigation of Bush officials to his bow before the Saudi King and a speech in Cairo to “the Muslim world” with far too many rhetorical concessions and equivocations. And at the end of it, the jihad sent America a thank-you note by way of Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab’s underwear: Hey, thanks for all the outreach! But we’re still gonna kill you.

Train Crash

When Prozac, Valium and Cannabis fail, Islam grabs a lost soul.

Which reminds me of this: “What’s liberating about Islam is that one is spared from having to think.”

Allegra Mostyn-Owen

Fresh start: Allegra Mostyn-Owen, Boris Johnson’s ex-wife, teaches art in a mosque and has married a 23-year-old Muslim man

Most art is -you guessed it- haram in Islam. Me thinks this woman is in for a surprise….

There is a  market in the marriage to older western women in the Muslim world – these younger men look to marrying these older non-virgins to secure Western passports. It appears Mayor of London Boris Johnson’s ex fell for such a scheme.

‘Vast numbers of educated, privileged middle-class white women have converted to Islam’ [Mark Steyn]

This seems symbolic of something or other. The ex-wife of Boris Johnson (Mark Steyn’s old boss and now the mayor of London) has married a young Muslim man and now teaches at a mosque in the East End.

In Foreign Policy, a man called Blake Hounshell dispatches us Euro-doom mongers definitively:

Europe is going to be just fine, thank you.

Oh, well, that’s that then.

Something is Rotting in the State of Denmark [Mark Steyn]

Remember the Danish cartoons? A 27-year old Somali does:

Danish police on Friday shot and wounded a man trying to enter the home of an artist who drew controversial cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed.

The man, a 27-year-old Somalian who was armed with an axe, was caught trying to break into the home of Kurt Westergaard at 10pm local time, police said.

Police shot the man, injuring him in his leg…

Mr Westergaard’s cartoon was seen at the time as the most controversial, as it depicted the Prophet with a bomb in his turban.

“Controversial” but entirely vindicated by events since. To return to the theme of my post a couple of days back, a significant percentage of Muslims in the west do not understand concepts such as pluralism and freedom of expression. A further percentage understand them very well but reject them as loser fetishes incompatible with the requirements of Islamic supremacism – and have a shrewd sense that when, push comes to shove, a lot of these fine liberal concepts crumble to nothing. Is the percentage of Muslims who support Mr Westergaard’s right to free expression and the broader principles of intellectual liberty sufficient to make the importation of legions of “27-year old Somalians” a net benefit to Denmark?

The answer to that seems obvious. But Mr Westergaard is 74, and I’ll bet his half-century-younger attacker grasps however crudely the demographic arithmetic, in Scandinavia and beyond.

Actually, this one is my favorite:

Mark Steyn:

“The Danish cartoons story was a test, and the civilized world failed it..”

…the western media have managed to produce a uniquely creepy synthesis of craven capitulation and self-serving pomposity. As the great Australian wag Tim Blair observed:

Journalists can spend entire careers mouthing off about their commitment to free speech without ever having the chance to properly demonstrate it. I once had a theory that the lack of repression in modern democracies drove journalists to invent McCarthyesque threats, so much did they crave an opportunity to stare down those who would silence them.

This story meets all the clichés of journalistic self-aggrandizement: “Sunlight is the best disinfectant”, “News is what someone doesn’t want you to put in the paper”. But it seems it’s one thing to “speak truth to power” when the power’s George Bush or John Ashcroft, quite another when it’s an Islamist mob coming to burn your building down. Needless to say, reflex blowhardism is so ingrained in the media class they couldn’t resist passing off their prioritizing of self-preservation as a bold principled stand. Or as Philip Lee, professor of journalism at St Thomas University in New Brunswick, put it:

“Freedom of the press means you can publish, or not. Not publishing is also an expression of freedom.”

Steyn on Britain and Europe

theotherislamicbomb4

Whenever I write about Europe’s shriveled birth rates, I get irate letters from Brits and Germans and the rest saying, “You idiot! I’d love to have kids. But I can’t afford ’em.” Of course not. You’re paying for Afghan welfare moms’ kids:

The 36-year-old moved into the detached property last July and receives £170,000 a year in benefits, which includes £12,500 a month for her rent.

£170,000 = $275,000.

Mrs Saiedi moved to London seven years ago after she fled her native Afghanistan during civil unrest.

She was made homeless from a five-bedroom house in Ealing, West London, in 2008 and pleaded with the council for a suitable home but there was nothing available.

As well as seven bedrooms, the house in nearby Acton has two reception rooms, a dining room, two kitchens and an extensive back garden.

The landlord, Ajit Panesar, is being paid double the normal market value of the property because of another government loophole.

If Osama bin Laden were smarter, instead of training suicide bombers to fly planes into skyscrapers, his Afghan camps would have been training up armies of women to do as Mrs. Saiedi did. The entire western world would be his by now.

The Goracle Wants a One World Government

You knew this was coming. Don’t say I told you so:

The same old dream

Andrew Bolt – Sunday, July 12, 09

Once world government was the obsession of Jew-haters, Illuminati-obessives, the Comintern and the odd dictator. But now it’s mainstreaming:

(Al) Gore touted the Congressional climate bill, claiming it “will dramatically increase the prospects for success” in combating what he sees as the “crisis” of man-made global warming.

“But it is the awareness itself that will drive the change and one of the ways it will drive the change is through global governance and global agreements.”

But that’s beginners stuff. The Goracle (still) infects his fans:

Australia’s comrade  KRudd is right on track. Just listen for once, if you can bear it:

rudd_mao-1

“International law, international finance, international standards, global governance, United Nations, carbon trading, global warming, climate change, world economy, carbon footprints…   ah yes: “working families”  anybody?  You don’t hear much about them these days.

If all fails (or if all goes to plan) career  rider  KRudd will still fall up the ladder and find himself a cushy  position at the United Nations. Thats where spin-doctors usually end up. Just think about Koffi Annan for a moment: he didn’t  do badly out of it. Neither did Tony BLiar, Britain’s empty suit who is looking for peace in all the wrong places and reads the Koran every day.

The environmental group Friends of the Earth advocated the transfer of money from rich to poor nations during the 2007 UN climate conference.

And thats what it’s all about – redistribution of wealth via Socialism, with a capital S – the forcing of AGW obedience world wide is the sheep’s clothing these wolves wear.

Great idea: Americans should “pay” for  China’s carbon footprint…

(WSJ) Commerce Secretary Gary Locke said something amazing—U.S. consumers should pay for part of Chinese greenhouse-gas emissions. From Reuters:

LONDON — When Ayatollah Ali Khamenei used his speech at Friday Prayer in Tehran to denounce Britain as “the most evil” ofIran’s enemies, he was striking a chord with a deep resonance in the psyche of Iranians, the legacy of a long history of British imperial intrusions into their country’s affairs.

Mark Steyn: Whoa, racist! Crime? Racist! Welfare? Racist! Islam? Racistracistdoubleracist!!!

The greatest threat to Western Civilization may be white guilt. The fear of being charged with racism inhibits countless people. This madness is also mostly responsible for the election of the shabbily educated race hustler Barack Obama.

Mark Steyn mocks the the slippery downward spiral of  the Eurabians, who are moving towards removing rights, liberties and freedoms due to ‘hypersensitivity.’  If you bother to read some of the letters to the editor, there is no shortage of “fascist” shriekers, and that includes Ralph Peters hit piece in the New York Post ‘The Eurabia Myth’.

090611t_steyn

Talk about denial: while it is (the Islamization of Europe)  happening before our very eyes,  Peters  tells us its not happening. Very much like Walter Duranty, really. Is there something in the air or in the water in NY that afflicts people in this way?

Why the fascists are winning in Europe

Mark Steyn

In bad times, if the political culture forbids respectable politicians from raising certain issues, voters will turn to unrespectable ones

Things are not going to get any prettier in the next European electoral cycle. Aside from professions of “horror” at the success of the neo-nationalists, there is now talk of shutting down these parties by using the legal system (as was done in Belgium) or by denying them the public funding to which their share of the vote entitles them. Subverting democracy to suppress neo-nationalism doesn’t seem a smart move. But then if the political class were that smart it wouldn’t be in this situation. The problem in Europe is not a lunatic fringe but a lunatic mainstream ever more estranged from its voters.

The European political class is congratulating itself at holding the tide of neo-nationalism to the low double-digits. I’d say some of these results are pretty remarkable given that these parties are all but excluded from the public discourse and that even a relatively mild dissenter from the consensus such as the Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilders has been banned from setting foot in Britain and is undergoing prosecution for his views in the Netherlands. What makes the Labour Party “mainstream” with 15 per cent of the vote and UKIP the “fringe” with 17 per cent? Nothing, other than the blinkers of the politico-media class. But if you want to drive the electorate toward the wilder shores in ever greater numbers, keep crying “Racist!” at every opportunity.
