BBC spends £200,000 of licence fees on legal fight to suppress report on anti-Israeli ‘bias’

The BBC has spent hundreds of thousands on a legal fight to block publication of a report on alleged bias in its Middle East reporting.

The Law Lords today ruled that a campaigner who is pursuing a battle to force the broadcaster to make the report public can continue his fight.

But this means the BBC will probably have to spend thousands more as the case is set to rumble on for months until a final decision is reached.

The corporation is understood to have already used about £200,000 of licence fee cash trying to prevent it having to release the Balen Report.

Hassan Abu Al-Ashbal: What’s the point of having an animal you can ride, if it drives you nuts? The distance it takes you – you could cover in a bus for a quarter of an Egyptian pound, but you have to spend 100 pounds on this animal. Sell it, and get rid of it. Would anyone blame you for selling it? Would anyone say: “Shame on him for selling it”? It’s only an animal.

If a man is completely fed up with his apartment, because he has bad neighbors, and the apartment is falling apart – would anyone blame him for selling it, and say: “Shame on you, how can you sell it? This is where you were born and raised.” This apartment does not suit him anymore. I have bad neighbors, and I don’t feel good in it.

The same goes for the woman. If a woman has such bad character that her husband does not feel comfortable with her, there is nothing to prevent him from divorcing her. What are we, Christians?!

Female FBI officer ‘tortured Mumbai terror attacks suspect with sex’

A female FBI officer tortured a suspect in the Mumbai terrorist attacks by performing a sex act on him during interrogation, it has been claimed.

Fahim Ansari is accused of helping to plan the attacks in which 173 people were killed in November.

His lawyer, Ejaz Naqvi, has filed legal papers with Mumbai magistrate’s court, claiming the “white woman” removed all his clothes and showed him pornographic films.

In the papers, he claims that three foreigners, including the woman, sexually abused him, causing him “severe itching and wounds” on his body, including his genitals.

Britain Capitulates To Terror

If anyone had doubted the extent to which Britain has capitulated to Islamic terror, the banning of Geert Wilders a few hours ago should surely open their eyes. Wilders, the Dutch member of parliament who had made an uncompromising stand against the Koranic sources of Islamist extremism and violence, was due to give a screening of Fitna, his film on this subject, at the House of Lords on Thursday. This meeting had been postponed after Lord Ahmed had previously threatened the House of Lords authorities that he would bring a force of 10,000 Muslims to lay siege to the Lords if Wilders was allowed to speak. To their credit, the Lords authorities had stood firm and said extra police would be drafted in to meet this threat and the Wilders meeting should go ahead.

Over in the Lost Land of the Mendacious Very Little Green Craven One, and His Mindless Minions, there is a predictably distorted “discussion” of yesterday’s banning of Dutch Parliamentarian Geert Wilders from Britain, where Wilders was slated to show his film Fitna at the House of Lords.

Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer have informed discussions on the subject of Wilder’s banning.

Whether Mr. Wilders has deliberately insulted Muslim people is for the judges to decide. But for a man who calls for a ban on the Koran to act as the champion of free speech is a bit rich.

Then Charles Johnson said it yesterday at the once-worthwhile site Little Green Footballs (no link, as the adolescent Johnson has blocked links from this site), as he continued to libel anti-jihadists with false charges of “smelly fascist associations”:

However, Wilders himself does not deserve to be called an icon of free speech, since he explicitly wants to ban the Koran and make Islam illegal in Europe; in other words, he wants to take away other people’s freedom of speech and freedom of religion, and that is simply wrong. Book banning is what totalitarians do, not believers in free speech.

Austrian-born Ferrero Waldner expressed her satisfaction with the talks, stressing how this “is an historic moment in relations between the European Union and Libya: it was Libya herself who wanted to reintegrate with the international community and we acknowledge this”. In relations between Tripoli and Brussels “we can make big strides” Ferrero Waldner said, turning to Libyàs Foreign Minister, Abdulrahaman Shalgam. Apart from the issue of immigration, other themes touched on were political dialogue, trade relations, transport (especially by air), the environment and energy with the aim – reports an Italian source in the delegation – of “developing a dialogue on energy policies to include everything: gas, oil, solar energy”. Ferrero Waldner’s delegation also met the General Secretary for European Affairs of the Libyan government, Al Obeidi, and the head of these negotiations with the European Union, Mohammed Siala

During the Democratic primaries, Barack Obama promised to meet the leaders of Iran “without preconditions.” He appears a man of his word. Within days of his election, the State Department began drafting a letter to Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad intended to pave the way for face-to-face talks. Then, less than a week after taking office, Obama told al-Arabiya’s satellite network, “If countries like Iran are willing to unclench their fist, they will find an extended hand from us.” The president dispatched former Defense Secretary William Perry to engage a high-level Iranian delegation led by a senior Ahmadinejad adviser.

The pundits and journalists may applaud, but their adulation for Obama’s new approach is based more on myth than reality. “Not since before the 1979 Iranian revolution are U.S. officials believed to have conducted wide-ranging direct diplomacy with Iranian officials,” the Associated Press reported. But Washington and Tehran have never stopped talking; indeed, many of Obama’s supposedly bold initiatives have been tried before, often with disastrous results.

What an astonishing – and whimpering – campaign Britain is now launching:

Prominent British Muslims are being recruited to star in a government-backed advertising campaign aimed at preventing people in Pakistan from engaging in extremist activity, the Guardian has learned.

Please don’t hate us: UK ad campaign to target extremism what???

I certainly hope that telling jihadists that Britain isn’t anti-Muslim will work. But two things worry me.

First, Britain hasn’t even managed to convince a frightening number of its own Muslims that it’s too nice to bomb. Second, when you crawl like that to men of such violence, you are likely to get not sympathy for your pleas, but contempt for your weakness.
