I think it very unhealthy for Islamic organizations (ie, the UN) to be dictating the terms of surrender to Islam. By g-d, whatever the West is smoking is some crazy wild shiz.

Could the Taliban be any more devoutly Islamic, violent, oppressive, misogynistic, barbaric, savage, and bloodthirsty? And yet, their names were taken off a UN sanctions list which has frozen their assets and blocked foreign travel. Any deal would also need their removal from United States “kill or capture” lists. Read that again.

And hundreds of millions of dollars in jizya.

“Cash, not muscle, may end Afghan war”

After winning reluctant support from Western allies, Afghan President Hamid Karzai said yesterday he planned to offer money and jobs to Taliban fighters to draw them back to civilian life and away from their warlord masters.

Mr Karzai said he would use money from the international community to pay salaries and resettlement costs of former insurgents, saying his country must have ”peace at any cost”.

The plan to ”buy out” insurgents, known as reintegration, is a key pillar of the new strategy…

Awan’s jihad: lawfare

As some readers may recall, Khurrum Awan was the chief sock puppet for the Canadian Islamic Congress in their long attempt to criminalize my writing north of the border. Having lost out on all three suits, Awan is now suing my valiant comrade in the battle to restore free speech, Ezra Levant, on the curious grounds that, since Ezra began writing about him, he “has been shunned by his former friends.” I’m not sure that’s actionable even in Canada.

As Phyllis Chesler notes, Awan’s suit is part of the same assault on liberty as the Geert Wilders prosecution in Amsterdam. The point of “legal jihad” in the Western world is to make the price of discussing Islam in any meaningful sense too high. As Awan boastedto the Canadian Arab News, even though he struck out in three different jurisdictions, he cost me and my publishers 2 million bucks, and thereby “attained out strategic objective — to increase the cost of publishing anti-Islamic material.” (Under the Canadian “human rights” regime, the loser does not pay costs, so there is no downside to nuisance suits.)

Still, it’s odd to see Mr Awan suing because he has no friends. After all, he used to brag that he had successfully marginalized me and Ezra as Islamophobe haters beyond the Canadian pale. Turns out he marginalized himself.

I was able to offset my legal expenses with the profits from my Christmas single, but for some reason Ezra is reluctant to venture into this lucrative territory. So, if you can do anything to toss a couple bucks (U.S. or Canadian) or even a Euro his way, please do(scroll down). It is important that the Islamists’ “strategic objective” of putting this topic beyond the price range of nervous publishers be resisted on every front. It’s expensive, and it’s thankless work, but it is necessary to defeat the likes of Awan, and to show to the world that they have been defeated — or the lamps of liberty will be extinguished one by one.

Nik Aziz, the spiritual leader of Parti Islam se-Malaysia, was quoted on Dec. 11 in Malaysia’s New Straits Times as saying Islamic spiritual leaders should practice polygamy to be better able to counsel their flocks about the practice, which he called suitable to “the era of information and communications technology.”

It is not fitting for a believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Apostle, to have any option about their decision: if anyone disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he is indeed on a clearly wrong path] (Al-Ahzab: 36)

It is not. It is suited to the Middle Ages. Statistics show that polygamous marriages, like twisters, leave a trail of destruction in the form of neglected women and dysfunctional children in their wake.

Polygamy has been much in the Malaysian news. The New York Times, in a Jan. 5 article about a polygamous family, painted a relatively benign picture of a husband with four wives — a physician, a divorce lawyer and two teachers — and nine children living in apparent harmony in Kuala Lumpur. Other media have given considerable attention to The Ikhwan Polygamy Club, which says it has 1,000 members across Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, the Middle East and Europe.

Boat people stand-off ‘Indonesia’s problem’

AUSTRALIA has rejected an Indonesian call for more help to resolve a long-running asylum seeker stand-off at a Javanese port.

More than 240 Sri Lankan asylum seekers have spent more than three months holed up on their rickety cargo boat at the port of Merak, in Java’s west.

Intercepted by Indonesia at Australia’s request in October, the Tamils do not want to come ashore because they fear they will be forced to wait years for resettlement.

They want instead to be offered a rapid resettlement deal like the one Australia used to coax 78 Tamils off the Oceanic Viking last year.  Of course!

Senior Indonesian officials this week indicated Indonesia would ask Australia for more help to resolve the stand-off.

But the Department on Foreign Affairs and Trade today made it clear the stand-off was Indonesia’s problem.

“The disembarkation of the passengers on the Merak vessel is a matter for the Indonesian government to resolve,” a DFAT spokeswoman said.

DFAT confirmed Australia’s People Smuggling Ambassador Peter Woolcott would travel to Jakarta “shortly” but indicated the Merak crisis would not be on the agenda.

“The Ambassador will be holding general discussions with the Indonesian Government about bilateral co-operation on people smuggling issues,” DFAT said.

According to the UN, so far, the governments of Iran and Saudi Arabia have contributed nothing towards Haiti earthquake relief. Neither have Egypt, Jordan*, or Syria.

On the other hand, (possibly because of the bad press,) the Organization of the Islamic Conference has asked Muslim nations to help the victims.

The Al-Arabiya article about this call to help is interesting in the reactions by the readers.
