The group carried out attacks on targets they considered to be “enemies of Islam,” including a German Red Cross worker who was shot dead in Aceh. The house where two American teachers were living, and the Aceh office of UNICEF were also attacked.
“According to the group, NGOs or foreign aid agencies were agents of Christianization in Aceh,” one document said, adding the group planned to destroy churches in the staunchly Islamic region and stem what they saw as the spread of liberal thought.

The backers of the Ground Zero Mosque have virtually no money, one of the group’s leaders says, and plan to create another nonprofit organization that would further complicate the already labyrinthine financial network surrounding the project.Daisy Khan, one of the leaders of the project, told supporters over the weekend that the mosques organizers have “nothing in the bank” for their effort. Khan said there is no money and that she doesn’t know of anything that has been raised.

Suhail Khan is the son of Maboob Khan, who, as head of a Wahabbi mosque in California, had hosted Osama bin Laden’s number two man, Ayman al-Zawahiri, and raised money for him, and that as a member of the White House staff -Â a position Norquist engineered for him -Â he had authorized radical Islamists to meet with President Bush.
Suhail Khan’s father was the late Mahboob Khan, a Ph.D. in solid-state physics. His biography claims that he helped establish the Muslim Students Association (MSA) while a student in Boulder. The elder Khan also served as member of Majlis a’Shura (the governing council) of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). Mahboob Khan founded a mosque after he moved the family from Colorado to southern California in 1975.  The mosque, together with an Islamic center and an elementary school, comprises the Islamic Society of Orange County (ISOC), of which Dr. Khan served as president before moving on to San Jose in 1980.

But you gotta keep in mind that terrorism is ‘absolutely forbidden in Islam’, no Muslim can be a terrorist, and Islam is a religion of peace. Add to this that you can’t tar all Muslims with the same brush, can’t blame all Muslims for the tiny minority of extremists that misinterprets the religion,  and if you don’t  stop asking questions and submit to Islam anytime soon, one and a half gazillion Muslims will come charging out of the mosques and kill you.

Many people would probably dismiss Dutch politician Geert Wilders as a right-wing extremist for his anti-Islam manifesto, in which he says Muslims are retarded and vows to ban the Koran.
But his ‘Freedom Party’ has come from the fringe of politics to gain significant support in the Dutch Parliament, increasing its seats to 24, placing him in a position where he could now decide the future of Holland’s government.
Like Australia, the Netherlands has a hung parliament. At first the parties said they wouldn’t negotiate with Wilders, but after two months of failed talks, he may now have the deciding vote on who rules the country.

CNN: Koran burning far worse than Islamic terrorism

Spencer takes a more realistic approach:

As such, it would be better to read aloud from the Qur’an for all to hear of its hatred and subjugation of non-believers, the second-class status of women, cruel and unusual punishments, and open-ended calls to warfare in order to impose Islamic law.

In a recent article appearing in Tablet, Lee Smith takes former House speaker Newt Gingrich to task for the latter’s focus on sharia (i.e., Islamic law). The thrust of Smith’s argument is that sharia is a “hopelessly abstract concept” and “a highly idealized version of reality that has little basis in fact”; that sharia is “a catchall phrase for legal principles that have rarely, if ever, existed in actual Muslim societies”; and that “the notion that something called ‘sharia’ was widely imposed throughout the lands of Islam is an Orientalist fantasy.”My first observation is — even if all these charges were perfectly true — so? It hardly matters what sharia really is; all that matters is what today’s Muslims believe it is. And a great many believe sharia is tangible and codified, and that it can, and should, be implemented in society. More to the point, telling the apostate or adulteress — who are regularly executed “according to sharia”– that they are reallybeing murdered by “principles that have rarely, if ever, existed in actual Muslim societies,” is hardly reassuring.
Smith does acknowledge Islam’s famous draconian punishments; he just prefers to call them hudud, and limits them to “Islamist outfits like the Taliban.” Similarly, Smith offers a blitz tour on Islamic jurisprudence — including the Hanbali, Hanafi, Maliki, and Shafi’i madhahib, the differences between usuli and akhbari, fiqh,ijma, ‘aql, qiyas, and ahkam sultaniyya — even as the reader wonders how these concepts are relevant to the discussion at hand: Islam in America, from a national security context….
