Move over, infidel!

The Queensland government is trying to encourage employers to employ more Muslims [there has been a well grounded fear so far in this regard] and allay fears of having to change canteen food supply and make provisions for prayer rooms. A sum of money has been allocated to encourage such employment and the debunking of ‘myths’ surrounding Islam (which Ayaan Hirsi Ali said were founded on reality)

Melbourne, June 12: In a bid to encourage employers to hire Muslims, the Australian Queensland Government has given a sum of 19,100 dollars to refugee settlement agency Assisting Collaborative Community Employment Support Services (ACCES Services) to debunk the “myths” surrounding the faith. The government had to take this step as employers started overlooking Muslim workers, apparently to avoid making special arrangements for their prayers or change the canteen menu. (source)

It would be interesting to know where this push has come from. Queensland is home to the ‘Queenland Muslim Times ’, which is not just an ethnic newspaper but a strident advocate of special rights for Muslims due to their ‘victim’ status. The sooner that Australians stop thinking in terms of this wailing victimisation of Muslims, the better.

Of course, Muslims should be encouraged to work, but the push for special provisions is a dangerous path to follow – once started, according to those who have lived with Muslims overseas, it does not end and it always works to the detriment of the host society.

New Mosque for Cairns

Our readers will be pleased to know that Cairns is going to have its own brand new mosque. It is expected the temple should be hopefully ready by the next Ramadan. There is already a mosque – a former Christian church in Mareeba, about 50 kms west of Cairns which, apart from the word ‘Mosque’, proudly displays several large signs in Arabic (why bother with an English translation).
The new architectural monstrosity in Cairns apparently has local council approval as well as full support of many in the local non-Muslim community (future dhimmis) .

This new mosque will serve 25-30 Muslim families
The mosque will serve 25-30 Sunni families and probably all the rich Muslim tourists from the oil-gulf-states brought to Oz by rapidly expanding Emirates Airline.
Who knows, if we are lucky we can probably replace India, Thailand and Philippines as the sex-tourism destination for the Saudis.

Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here Tuesday the West would gradually understand that adoption of different resolutions would not be an appropriate solution to the “misunderstanding” over Iran’s peaceful nuclear case.
Addressing ambassadors of Arab states to Tehran, he said, “The necessity of adopting a logical solution arises day by day.” He added, “Establishment of a consortium to enrich uranium in Iran will be an effective way to increase confidence. In that case, negotiations will focus on non-diversion.”

U.K. woman taught to be suicide bomber by now-former husband

“Woman in UK ‘groomed’ as bomber” from the BBC:

The former wife of a British Islamist extremist has said her husband suggested she carry out a suicide bombing against the UK.
Speaking exclusively to the BBC’s Newsnight programme, the woman said her husband showed how she should strap an explosive belt around her body.

The BBC is not identifying the South Asian woman for security reasons. However, her husband is known to have fallen in with UK extremists sympathetic to the aims of Osama bin Laden.
In the interview, the woman told Newsnight’s Richard Watson how her husband and fellow extremists would talk about what they believed to be their duty to follow a course of “jihad” – in this context referring to attacks against the perceived enemies of Muslims.
“He used to say we should all do jihad because he used to give an example of a woman who was a suicide bomber in India, who killed herself,” she said in the interview.
“My husband told me I should join him to participate in jihad as well.”
The woman told the programme her husband attempted to give her instructions in how to turn herself into a suicide bomber by concealing explosives under baggy, traditional, Islamic clothes.
“He would tell me how to use a [bomb] belt around the waist,” she said. “Whenever he would discuss these matters I just would ignore him and go to the kitchen.”
“Uh, yes, dear.”

‘Walk away’
The woman said: “I told him I’m not interested at all. He was very clever. He told me how the girls tied the suicide belt around their waist and [wore] the hijab over the top.
“I would go to the kitchen or visit my friend. I told him that I don’t want to listen to these sorts of things. Why should one spoil her or his life to kill innocent people? I would walk away.”
In the interview, the woman claimed that three weeks before the 7 July 2005 London bombings her husband and his jihadi associates were warning about an attack.
“He said that something would happen and he would flee but I would be trapped. I told him I’m not going anywhere, I will stay.
“He said all his other colleagues are sending their wives away so I should leave as well.”

The GSS says that the two women “took advantage of Israel’s humanitarian policies, receiving a fraudulent medical permit to enter Israel.” 

JERUSALEM, June 13 (Reuters) – A pregnant Palestinian mother of eight and her niece told Israeli interrogators they planned a double suicide bombing in Israel after they were detained last month, Israel’s Shin Bet security service said on Wednesday.

Citing what it said were confessions the two women made after their arrest trying to leave the Gaza Strip, it said Fatima Zak and Ruda Habib were recruited by militant group Islamic Jihad and applied to enter Israel for medical treatment.

Zak, 39, and Habib, 30, said they were to have travelled to the West Bank, received explosives from local militants, and then re-entered Israel for the attack, the Shin Bet said.

Here’s much more than you really want to know about the bodily fluid fatwa recently issued by the Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Ali Gomaa: Egyptian Mufti: The Companions of the Prophet Blessed Themselves with His Urine, Sweat and Saliva.

When not issuing these freaky fatwas, the good Doctor can be seen meeting with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, discussing how to improve the teaching of Islam in Britain.

In his book Religion and Life – Modern Everyday Fatwas, Egyptian Mufti Dr. Ali Gum’a wrote that the companions of the Prophet Muhammad would bless themselves by drinking his urine, and described an incident of urine-drinking from a hadith: “Umm Ayman drank the urine of the Prophet, and the prophet told her: ‘This stomach will not be dragged through the fire of Hell, because it contains something of our Lord the Messenger of Allah…’

”This blessing,“ Al-Gum’a added, ”[can also] be done with the honorable saliva, sweat, hair, urine or blood of the Prophet. This is because anyone who knows the love of the Messenger of Allah is not repulsed [by these]; just as a mother is not repulsed by the feces of her son, this is even more so [in the case of] our Lord the Messenger of Allah, whom we love more than our fathers, sons, and wives. Anyone who was or is repulsed by the Messenger of Allah must recant his faith.“

Following the ensuing uproar, Gum’a came to the defense of his fatwa, saying: ”The entire body of the Prophet, whether exposed or hidden, is pure, and there is nothing in it– including his secretions – that [can] repulse anyone. His sweat smelled better than perfume. Umm Haram would collect this sweat and distribute it to the people of Al-Madina.“

Dr. Gum’a added: ”The hadith of Suhail bin Omar at Al-Hudaybiya says: ‘Oh Lord, I was with Kisra [the ruler of Persia] and with Kaisar [the ruler of Byzantium] and I saw no instance in which the leader was glorified like the Companions of the Prophet glorified Muhammad. The second Muhammad spat, one of them would immediately hasten [to grab his saliva] and smear it upon his face.’ Hence, the ulema, including Ibn Hajar Al-Askalani, Al-Baihaqi, Al-Daraqutni and Al-Haythami, determined that the Prophet’s entire body was pure.”

Following is an interview with President of Al-Azhar University and former Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, which aired on Nile News TV on May 25, 2007.

Ahmad Al-Tayyeb: With regard to wife beating… In a nutshell, it appeared as part of a program to reform the wife. [According to the Koran], first “admonish them,” [then] “sleep in separate beds, and beat them.”

Interviewer: I think we must stress that this pertains to a rebellious woman…

Ahmad Al-Tayyeb: Of course. It’s not that anybody can start beating as he sees fit. [Westerners] who claim this talk about an Islam which is a figment of their imagination. They are villains because they know there’s no such thing in Islam, and they want to pin this interpretation on it. Why? Because Islamic culture is the only culture that is spreading, and is viewed with fear by people of other cultures. In any case… This method appeared as part of the treatment of a rebellious wife. I am faced with two options – either the family will be destroyed by divorce, or I can use means that may bring my wife, the mother of my children, back to her senses. The first means is admonishment.

* Islamo-logic at work: You see, a Westerner who claims wife-beating is a bad thing is a ‘villain’ and the whole thing is a ‘figment of his imagination’- but wife-beating is perfectly okay to bring a woman ‘back to her senses’…

The second means of treatment is “sleeping in separate beds.” Why? Because this targets the honor… A lot could be said about this. The strength of a woman lies in her ability to seduce the man. The man is strong and can do whatever he wants, but the woman has a weapon of her own. This weapon can be targeted. Many women will come back to their senses, when they realize that this is what’s involved.

By Allah, even if only one woman out of a million can be reformed by light beatings… It’s not really beating, it’s more like punching… It’s like shoving or poking her. That’s what it is.

* Surely infidel females are now ‘reverting’ in droves? How could anyone possibly resist the call to Islam now?

Here we have the highest authority in Sunni Islam telling us that women are all about sex and nothing but sex, with their power derived not from superior morality or tenderness or intelligence, but only from their satanic powers of sexual, not intellectual, seduction.

One looks forward to Western feminists, worrying over such things as “glass ceilings” for female executives, and the male gaze, telling us what they think of the advice dispensed by the president of al-Azhar and former Mufti of Egypt. Or will there be silence? Or a pretense that he has no authority to speak, but is merely a lone mad mufti, possibly punch-drunk himself, in every sense?

* Islamic taqiyya spin-doctors give you all kinds of excuses for this barbaric practice. Like ‘it has nothing to do with Islam,- its a cultural thing’- or ‘others do it too’- like some black tribes in Africa. But they will not tell you that it is proscribed in the hadith, the sayings and traditions of Muhammad.

Although there is no mention of it in the Quran itself, there are several hadiths, where Female Genital Mutilation is encouraged by Mohammad:

The first hadith is from Abu Dawud (Book 41, Number 5251): Um ‘Atiyyah is reported as an exciser of female slaves who had immigrated with Mohammad.
On one occasion Mohammad allegedly asked her if she kept practicing her profession, to which she responded in the affirmative. Then she added: “unless it is forbidden and you order me to stop doing it.” Mohammad replied: “yes, it is allowed.”
Mohammad then gave Um ‘Atiyyah specific instructions on the methodology for female circumcision (Aldeeb, 1994, p. 6), explaining to her that his method of “female circumcision” would bring radiance to the face of the woman.
This hadith is also quoted by al-Hakim and al-Baihaqi on the authority of al-Dhaahhak ibn Qais (al-Sabbagh, 1998, p. 17).

Another well-known hadith is that of Ahmad ibn Hanbal. He relates in his Musnad (5:75) from Abu al-Malih ibn, Usama’s father, that Mohammad said:
“Circumcision is sunna (tradition) for men and an honorable quality for women”

A third hadith states: “If the two circumcision organs (khitanan) meet, ritual ablution (gusl), becomes obligatory.” This is cited in Malik, Muslim, al-Tirmithi and Ibn Majah in their respective hadith collections and can also be found in other collections (al-Sabbagh, 1998, p. 38).

There are many documented justifications by Islamic scholars through the ages, based on these Hadiths. And many of them, coincidentally, are from the same aforementioned Al-Azhar university. Possibly because Egypt is pretty much FGM-central, with 97% of women there having been subjected to it. You’d think if the practice contradicted Sharia it would have become less prevalent, if not stamped out by now.

In Reliance of the Traveler, a classical manual of Islamic law, endorsed by Al-Azhar in 1991 as conforming ‘to the practice and faith of the orthodox Sunni community,’ we find the following, with notes from several scholars and the translator:

e4.3 Circumcision is obligatory (commentary of Sheikh ‘Umar Barakat: “for both men and women”). For men it consists of removing the prepuce from the penis, and for women, removing the prepuce (Arabic: Bazr) of the clitoris (remark by the translator: “not the clitoris itself, as some mistakenly assert”). (comment by Sheikh ‘Abd al-Wakil Durubi: Hanbalis hold that circumcision of women is not obligatory but sunna, while Hanafis consider it a mere courtesy to the husband.)”

A look at the original Arabic show the text to actually say:

Circumcision is obligatory (for every male and female)
by cutting off the piece of skin on the glans of the penis of the male,
but circumcision of the female is by cutting out the clitoris
(this is called HufaaD).

OUTGOING Islamic leader Sheik Taj al-Din al-Hilali did a bad job and embarrassed Australia’s Muslims, Foreign Minister Alexander Downer said today.

Sheik Hilali stood down from the position of Mufti of Australia yesterday.

The move followed a series of controversial remarks by the Muslim leader in the past year.

“I have to say I think that Sheik Hilali has done a very bad job as the leader of the Islamic community,” Mr Downer said on Sky News.

“I know many Muslims who have been embarrassed by him and have felt he hasn’t done Islamic Australia any good at all. Him standing down and a new mufti taking over, it has to be a step forward.”

* Downer must be living in another universe. He must be talking about those elusive ‘moderate Muslims’ – those that resemble something between Bigfoot and the Yeti

The former mufti’s spokesman, Keysar Trad, said Sheik Hilali stepped down because of constant government pressure, with Prime Minister John Howard and Mr Downer telling the Muslim community for six months to find a new mufti.

Mr Trad, president of the Islamic Friendship Association of Australia, said there had been veiled threats to withdraw government funding from Muslim communities and some government ministers had threatened not to attend events if the sheik was there.

* Its all about the jiziya, right Keysar?

Sheik Hilali sparked outrage by describing scantily clad women as “uncovered meat” and joking about notorious gang rapes by young Muslim men.

He also said Muslims had more right to be in Australia than people brought to the country in chains as convicts.

“They are playing the man and not the ball. If something can be misinterpreted or carry ambiguity, they will go for the worst possible spin, so the mufti has decided to step down and let someone else take the pressure.”

He said the council of imams also had appeared to bow to pressure because it did not insist that the sheik continue in his role as mufti.

“Under normal circumstances they would say, `no way’ and insist he continue as mufti and not step aside,” Mr Trad said.

He described the new mufti, Sheik Fehmi El-Imam, as “a very nice man”.

“It appears the media likes him and people in the Muslim community like him.”

Mr Trad rejected calls for the position of mufti to be abandoned altogether, saying such demands came from people ignorant of the religion.

“The position of mufti is not like the Pope,” Mr Trad said.

“The mufti takes it upon himself to find answers to difficult theological questions. These people calling for the position to be scrapped are acting out of vested interests or gross misunderstanding of the significance of this position.”

* Why should we care?

Australia’s imams elected 79-year-old Sheik Imam to the role when Sheik Hilali said he would not seek re-election.

Today, Sheik Imam defended his predecessor, saying Sheik Hilali was misunderstood.

In his first press conference, Sheik Imam said the Australian media should be more open-minded.

Al-Hilali, you see, like so many other Islamic spokesmen, and like the core Islamic texts, is simply operating at another level. Mere infidels can’t understand him, or the Qur’an, or anything else Islamic. When they call for jihad against infidels, when al-Hilali says women are to blame if they are raped, their words don’t mean what they appear to mean. When the Qur’an says a man may beat his disobedient wife, it doesn’t really mean what it appears to mean. It is all just so complex, you see. So easily misunderstood. When al-Hilali’s words are reported, it is the media’s fault. Not his. When someone writes about what the Qur’an actually says, he does it because he hates Islam and Muslims. Got it now?

He said his predecessor of 18 years did more good than he was given credit for.

“Maybe sometimes you may let your tongue go too far,” Sheik Imam said in Melbourne.

“I know that, but still, maybe he didn’t mean to harm others but the way he put it sometimes didn’t sound to others as pleasant as you want it.”
The new Mufti said the public should remember Sheik Hilali travelled to Iraq “in the midst of battle” to help free kidnapped Australian businessman Douglas Wood.

* Hilali travelled, that’s correct.

But never ‘in the heat of battle’- and nothing, absolutely NOTHING he did helped Douglas Wood in his predicament.

Hold your BS, mufti…

He called for greater co-operation between the Muslim community and the media.

“I want it to be a good relationship all the way, sometimes people say `we don’t like media’ I say let us like media … and let us like each other, let us know how to live with each other, how to handle each other, how to deal with each other.”

* What he wants is censorship and NO criticism of Islam in the media, simple really.

Sheik Imam has been described as a gentle soul who will not be as high-profile as his predecessor.

Director of the Islamic Council of Victoria Waleed Aly said Sheik Imam was widely respected.

“He is a very gentle soul,” Mr Aly said on ABC radio.

“He’s been around as an imam in Australia for some 50-odd years, he has got an Order of Australia, he is very widely respected and highly regarded in Victoria.

“He wants to ensure that Muslims and non-Muslim Australians are pulling in the same direction and that there’s a convivial relationship between the two.

“I think what you will find is someone who is slightly less high-profile in the role than previously.”

Sheik imam came to Australia from Lebanon in 1951 and is senior imam at the Preston Mosque.

He was elected Mufti for a two-year term.

Minders today barred him from answering questions about his views on the Iraq war but when quizzed about Jihad (holy war), the Muslim leader was more forthcoming.

He said the Muslim community would declare Jihad to defend Australia if the country was under attack.

“If you defend your country you are doing Jihad so we’ll do Jihad for Australia, to defend Australia.”

The European Union on Monday resumed aid to the Palestinian finance ministry for the first time since the West launched an economic boycott of the government more than a year ago.

The assistance begins with a four-million-euro (about five-million-dollar) project to help ensure that Palestinian taxpayers’ money is spent efficiently and that expenditures are accounted for.

“Minister of finance Dr Salam Fayyad and European Commission representative John Kjaer today signed a memorandum of understanding which relaunches European Union assistance to the ministry of finance,” the European Commission said.

“The European Union’s first step will be a four million euro project to help the minister of finance in ensuring that Palestinian taxpayers’ money is spent efficiently and that all expenditures are accounted for to the highest international standards,” it added.

The European Union, one of the biggest Palestinian donors, suspended direct aid to their government after Islamist movement Hamas — blacklisted by the West as a terrorist organisation — took office in March 2006.

The European Commission has now decided to renew direct assistance to the ministry after Hamas formed a national unity government in March and with the appointment of Fayyad, a political independent and widely respected economist.

Under the project launched on Monday, the four million euros will be paid in instalments until June 2009 and training will be provided in both the Ramallah and Gaza City offices of the finance ministry by accountancy firm Ernst & Young.

“This support for the ministry… will help me ensure that we work in accordance with the best international standards, and that the government can give every Palestinian taxpayer the assurance that their money is being legally and honestly spent,” Fayyad said in a statement.

With this programme, “the EU is resuming its support of the Palestinian Authority in a direct manner by the finance ministry,” Fayyad said in a press conference after the signing.

Despite the freeze on direct aid, EU aid in 2006 — extended indirectly through a mechanism that avoided the Hamas-led government — increased on the previous year to reach around 700 million euros (934 million dollars).

In a report published in March, the International Monetary Fund found that much progress achieved in years prior to 2006 to strengthen the finance ministry’s control over government finances and increase transparency was lost.

Kjaer praised Fayyad and his team for achieving “remarkable results in exceptionally difficult circumstances” and called on Israel to pay money owed to the Palestinians in the form of tax receipts withheld since early 2006.

“I take the opportunity to recall that the European Union continues to call on Israel to transfer to the Palestinians the money that Israel collects on their behalf,” he said in a statement.

And Fayyad warned that the PA’s economic hardships will not be resolved until Israel releases hundreds of million of dollars in custom duties that it has withheld following Hamas’s legislative victory in January 2006.

“We call on Israel to transfer the money as rapidly as possible,” he said.

Israel collects the funds on behalf of the Palestinian Authority on goods routed through Israel and chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erakat says the total amount of money currently owed is 600 million dollars.

Israel transferred 100 million dollars owed after a summit between Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas last December.
