* What a great idea! The Saudis alone have received in excess of 11 trillion dollars in undeserved wealth over the last 30 years, which they have largely used to fuel the global jihad, to build mosques and madrassas everywhere in the dar-al harb. Considering that Mohammedans have raided the coasts of Europe over 1000 years and taken more than one million white slaves, robbed millions of Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, Hindus and Buddhists and destroyed their places of worship, taken their children away (the girls for their harems and the boys as janissaries) it would be high time to ask them to pay up. What say you?
In early September 2008, demands were made that France must make reparations for its colonial past in Algeria. The calls followed the signing between Italy and Libya of a 5 billion dollar investment agreement to resolve colonial-era disputes. The 25-year deal includes the construction of a highway running between Egypt and Tunisia and the return to Libya of a prized ancient marble statue taken to Rome in colonial times. The settlement was a “complete and moral acknowledgement of the damage inflicted on Libya by Italy during the colonial period,” said Italy‘s Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. “Italy committed historic errors in Libya, and the Italian government’s move to apologise is positive,” secretary of Algeria‘s National Liberation Front (FLN) party, Al-Said Abu Haja, told Algerian daily El-Khabar. The FLN led the war of independence from France between 1954 and 1962. “We hope that the European Union will be able to put pressure on other former colonial powers such as France and get it to make amends for what it did in Algeria,” Haja added. “Algeria asked for France to apologise long before Libya [asked Italy]. The French occupied us for 130 years.”

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) – The Muslim call to prayer fills the halls of a Cairo computer shopping center, followed immediately by the click of locking doors as the young, bearded tech salesmen close shop and line up in rows to pray.

Business grinding to a halt for daily prayers is not unusual in conservative Saudi Arabia, but until recently it was rare in the Egyptian capital, especially in affluent commercial districts like Mohandiseen, where the mall is located.
But nearly the entire three-story mall is made up of computer stores run by Salafis, an ultraconservative Islamic movement that has grown dramatically across the Middle East in recent years.
“We all pray together,” said Yasser Mandi, a salesman at the Nour el-Hoda computer store. “When we know someone who is good and prays, we invite them to open a shop here in this mall.” Even the name of Mandi’s store is religious, meaning “Light of Guidance.”
Critics worry that the rise of Salafists in Egypt, as well as in other Arab countries such as Jordan and Lebanon, will crowd out the more liberal and tolerant version of Islam long practiced there. They also warn that the doctrine is only a few shades away from that of violent groups like al-Qaida—that it effectively preaches “Yes to jihad, just not now.”

The cost of monitoring Muslims in the U.K. must now be staggering. The cost includes putting non-Muslim agents — or paying Muslims who may not always be, and who very often may not be, reliable — to monitor nearly two million people. The thousands (by now) of mosques, the madrasas, the coffee shops, the curry-shops, the convenience stores, the very monica-ali streets, reeking of Rawalpindi in the midst of John of Gaunt’s once-sceptered isle (the scepter being quite different from the decapitatory knives of today), have to be patrolled, not only for the usual crime, but for the Islam-promoted schemes and plots, of which are so many.
There are, at the moment, about 2,000 groups or individuals that are apparently being watched. What does that take, in round-the-clock manpower? How many policemen or security agents are left for the task of protecting British citizens from ordinary crimes, when so much time and money must go into the monitoring of Muslims?

Cecep Hermawan, a businessman and activist in Indonesia’s radical Islamist movement, says he wants it to become a site where “pilgrims” can pay their respects to “those who fought for the existence of Islamic sharia, those that paid with their life”. He has offered a hectare of land in the city of Cianjur, West Java.
He has discussed the proposal with the bombers on death row – who killed 202 people, including 88 Australians, when they bombed Bali’s tourist strip six years ago – during his regular visits to them.

An 11-year-old girl has been set on fire by a relative in India’s northern city of Jaipur for wearing lipstick and being inappropriately dressed.
Police say the girl suffered burns over 90 per cent of her body and her chances of survival are bleak.

What are the limits? For example, there have been hardly any protests about the Merkez Mosque in Duisburg, which is scheduled to open on Oct. 26, 2008, and will be Germany’s largest. But the announcement that two additional mosques would be built in the city sparked protests by local inhabitants.

In the midst of turmoil in the global financial system, there is one branch of finance that aims to operate within strict moral and ethical boundaries – Islamic finance.Â
But how will it survive in the current climate?
Opposite London’s largest mosque, in the heart of the capital’s Muslim community, is a branch of the Islamic Bank of Britain.
It is one of eight branches around the UK that bring Islamic finance to the high street.
It looks just like any other high street bank – but manager Abu Fozoll tells me that it offers finance with a difference. “Every single product we offer here is all Sharia compliant. From home purchase plans to direct savings, these are all governed by Sharia principles.”
That means there’s no mention of interest – instead, savers are offered a projected share of profits. In practice, Muslims can still get a return on their investment, but without compromising their religious principles.
High street Islamic finance is just one small part of a thriving industry.
