Because that could cause  backlash. Police commissioner Simon Overland is already fully in tune with Islamic customs and is often seen apologizing to Islamic leaders, usually after some of the tiny minority of extremists  get caught doing their Islamic duty, which includes blowing up stoopid infidels like you and me.

A group of conspirators waited in Australia for an Islamic cleric in Somalia to grant them a fatwa.

They wanted his blessing to break into Sydney’s Holsworthy army base and kill as many people as possible.

But one of them expressed fears that it could be “a catastrophe”, the Victorian Supreme Court heard yesterday.

In a phone conversation intercepted by police in June last year, Abdirahmin Mohamud Ahmed told Saney Edow Aweys it would be easy for an “angry” sheik in the mountains of Somalia to tell them to “enter this place” and they had to ask “people with knowledge”.

“If the sheik says to the guys enter this place . . . it’s a catastrophe, brother,” Mr Ahmed said.

Mr Aweys, who has been identified in many recorded conversations repeatedly describing Australians as “infidels”, told Mr Ahmed he was “soft” and told him if a fatwa was granted, “I am included”.

Riot charges against  (fake) asylum seekers dropped

The Commonwealth DPP has dropped charges against two asylum seekers who were accused of taking part in a riot at Christmas Island last November.

Six Sri Lankan men remain on trial in the Perth Magistrates Court charged with rioting and weapons offences.

Defence lawyers will today argue the video interview of another of the accused men is inadmissible as evidence and his charges should also be dropped.

Any Idea Why Australia Needs a Middle Eastern Crime Squad?

Geehad Ghazi shot Constable Bill Crews, 26,  in the head during a drug raid   in Bankstown last night. Constable Bill Crews is dead. Mr Ghazi was one of two men arrested.  According to court documents, he was  in possession of a small silver barreled gun with a brown wooden handle, believed to be a CZ52 model, without a permit or license. THE police officer shot in the head during a drug raid last night has lost his fight for life.

William Crews, 26, a constable attached to the Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad, died in hospital earlier this morning, it has been confirmed…

Constable Crews was taking part in a search warrant relating to the sale of prohibited drugs when a number of shots were fired from an apartment block in Cairds Ave, Bankstown, just after 9pm.

Yet another boat has been intercepted today – the sixth since the election.

We have more than 4100 boat people now in detention, and some are getting very restless:

POLICE are searching a group of Afghan asylum-seekers who broke out of Darwin detention centre to stage a protest as they fear they may be carrying weapons…

Reports have put the number of detainees who breached the perimeter fence at 92 and police have cordoned off part of the Stuart Highway and are negotiating with the group.

One of the men, Hussein Ali, said he was protesting to raise awareness of his people’s plight.

NSW moonbat cabinet votes against burqa ban

NSW Premier Kristina Keneally says her government will not support a ban on the burqa, the head and body veil worn by some Muslim women, because “such a ban has no place in multicultural NSW”.

Christian Democratic Party MP Fred Nile had called on both major parties to allow members a conscience vote on his private member’s bill, which was introduced into Parliament in June.

Mr Nile wants NSW to follow a growing number of European countries trying to ban women from wearing in public the burqa and the niqab, a veil with a narrow opening for the eyes.

However, at an interfaith dinner with about 300 religious leaders last night, Ms Keneally announced that cabinet had decided to oppose the Full-face Coverings Prohibition Bill, which is modelled on legislation recently passed by the Belgian Parliament.

“We are fortunate to live in a largely harmonious state where differences in language, culture and faith are rightly seen as things which enliven and strengthen our society,” Ms Keneally said.

“It is in this spirit that the NSW Government has decided to oppose the bill seeking to create a criminal offence of wearing a burqa in public places.”

Mr Nile said he was disappointed that MPs would not be allowed a conscience vote when the bill returns to Parliament next month.

A Day Late and a Dollar Short:

TONY Abbott says he will take a stand against an extreme Muslim group he describes as “peddlers of hate” who have defamed Australian values.


In an exclusive interview with the Herald Sun, the Liberal leader revealed that if he won next Saturday’s federal election he would move to prosecute the radical Hizb ut-Tahrir.

And an Abbott government would order intelligence and security agencies to keep closer tabs on the group and others like it, which he said “gives aid and comfort to terrorism”…

Mr Abbott said he was “really distressed” by the “apparent enthusiasm of at least 1000 Australians” who attended an Israel-bashing conference organised by the group in Melbourne.

This is an issue the Liberals should have raised in the proper context – three weeks ago when immigration and population were the hot issues of the campaign.

Tony Abbott then did no more than give the smallest wink to concerns that some immigrants were not “joining the team”. He should have said then what he’s saying now.

But at least Abbott is talking about it now, on the day the papers are full of news about one immigrant family that – to our cost – most certainly did not “join the team”.

MANY teachers lack a basic understanding of Islam and are left feeling uncomfortable and in urgent need of guidance on issues that involve Muslim students, according to a visiting British scholar.

Peter Vardy, (“truth is a dangerous word” and  “We live in a post-Christian society”) a specialist in religion and values education, says non-Muslim teachers are keen to be better informed to deal with a range of dilemmas.

“I think, to be honest, the biggest thing is ignorance,” he says. “They just don’t know where to turn and they haven’t had any training, so they find it difficult to actually engage with the questions young people raise because they don’t have the knowledge base. There is a thirst to be trained and better informed than they are.”

Dr Vardy, vice-principal of Heythrop College, a specialist philosophy and theology college at the University of London, was a keynote speaker at a workshop held at Ivanhoe Grammar last week to help non-Muslim teachers better engage with and teach Islam.

The grammar school’s director of world studies, Tim Bush, says often the responsibility for fostering community cohesion is handed over to schools but teachers are unsure what they can do to improve understanding.

“In many respects, teachers don’t necessarily have the resources, facilities or time to develop that, so workshops like this are absolutely critical,” he says.

Dr Vardy is passionate about using education to reduce misunderstandings about the Islamic faith.

“Islam is only one world religion . . . but it’s hugely important that young Australians have an understanding which goes beyond the superficial,” he says.

Nothing “moderate” about slick taqiyya spin-meister Waleed Aly

WALEED Aly is the model of a “moderate” Muslim, and well rewarded for it.

The Wesley College graduate and lawyer became well known as the articulate, guitar-playing spokesman of the Islamic Council of Victoria.

He made a more reassuring apologist for Islam than, say, former Mufti of Australia Taj al-Din al-Hilali did with all his accented talk of martyrs and jihad.

Monash University made him a lecturer in its Global Terrorism Research Centre, while the Leftist media made him its pin-up, with his columns run by the Guardian, Australian, Sydney Morning Herald and The Age. His first book was showered with praise, and the ABC’s Q&A asked both him and his convert wife to present the face of Islam it preferred.

But this week Aly turned up for his spot as a co-host of the Conversation Hour of ABC 774 presenter Jon Faine, who said he’d earlier interviewed Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the Somali-born author and former Dutch MP who is now a critic of Islam, warning it’s a violently rejectionist faith akin to “fascism” and incompatible with a liberal democracy.

And, as Faine told Aly, “she says people who are ‘moderate’ Muslims like yourself are part of the problem because you take the rough edges of something that is fundamentally flawed”.

Of course, no Islamic organization has ever denounced Islamic terrorism  without ifs or buts, and no Islamic organization has ever explained the meaning of ‘innocent civilians’, simply because such a concept doesn’t exist in Islam. Add to this the command to wage perpetual war on infidels, to terrorize them, to lie to them and deceive them until they pay the jiziya with willing submission and submit to Islamic law, and you’ll begin to understand why CAIR thug Nihad Awad is “sick and tired” of making excuses for sharia.
